3: Wilderness Town

A young girl brandished the peach wood sword in her hand over and over again.

Bursts of Sword Qi scattered the peach blossoms on the ground, and she only stopped once she was drenched in fragrant sweat.

She then wiped her forehead and began to lift a bamboo basket to gather the peach blossoms falling from the sky.

Looking up at this moment, the sky above was covered by a massive floating island.

The giant floating island hovered overhead, with massive peach trees hanging upside down from it, each appearing extraordinarily bewitching.

All the peach blossoms were blowing down from the floating island.

In the very center of the peach forest, a wooden house built of peach wood hung beneath the floating island.

If Gu Changan were here, he would definitely say: "Holy crap! This scenery is beautiful!"

The voice of Immortal Master Xuan Yin rang in the young girl's ear: "Disciple! Come to the main hall for a moment."

The girl trembled all over: "Understood, Old Ancestor!"

The girl put down the bamboo basket, and without bothering to tidy up, she flew directly toward the Sect's main hall.

The girl arrived before the Old Ancestor, bowing her head and not daring to make a sound.

Immortal Master Xuan Yin said: "Luo Li! You have stayed in the mountains for quite some time now."

"It is time for you to go down the mountain to gain some experience!"

The girl lowered her head nervously: "I have grown up in the mountains since childhood."

"The Old Ancestor's kindness in raising me is truly difficult to repay!"

Immortal Master Xuan Yin fell silent: "There is a matter I need you to handle."

"According to my deductions, a key figure who will stir the winds and clouds has appeared."

"I need you to make contact with him."

"It would be best if you can bring him back."

"If you cannot bring him back, try your best to help him grow."

The girl looked up in surprise: "Old Ancestor, who is this person?"

Immortal Master Xuan Yin: "I do not know!"

"Then where is this person?" the girl hurriedly followed up.

Immortal Master Xuan Yin: "I do not know!"

The girl was a bit dazed: "Then where am I supposed to find him?"

Immortal Master Xuan Yin: "In destiny, you will naturally meet!"

The girl nodded somewhat ignorantly.

Immortal Master Xuan Yin: "Go! I must cultivate."

The girl obediently withdrew.

Gu Changan had just emerged from the membrane and was all alone; he had no memories of this world in his head, so what should he do?

First, that Cultivator earlier had fire coming from his hand, so that was definitely a Spell!

There were also terrifying monsters and his own bronze small cauldron which was like a Magic Treasure; it was certain that this was a world of cultivation!

Gu Changan was secretly excited—Cultivation, here I come!

Let's see me stir the winds and clouds, becoming a Dragon and an Old Ancestor!~

The most important goal right now is to figure out my location!

Also some common knowledge of cultivation and the cultural situation.

I also need to guard against running into acquaintances who know me; if I do, I'll just pretend to have amnesia!

Most importantly, I need to figure out my cultivation Aptitude and see where I can go to test it.

Gu Changan estimated that this body's Aptitude probably wasn't very good.

If it were good, his predecessor wouldn't have died so easily.

Perhaps he would have directly joined that Sect and been well-protected, or had his own Family, and they wouldn't have let the predecessor come out to take risks.

Gu Changan was already mentally prepared for this.

After straightening out his thoughts, he thought of his predecessor's belongings.

The long sword was of normal size and looked to be of average quality!

He played with the small shield in his hand; Gu Changan felt it was not simple!

His predecessor wouldn't have brought a useless item while out adventuring. Could it be a Magic Treasure that can change size?

As he spoke, he injected a sliver of Spiritual Qi into the small shield, and with a flash, the small shield turned into a normal size.

It was about a meter in diameter and could protect most of his body. It shimmered with light, and the front of the shield was carved with lifelike flowers, birds, fish, and insects.

Gu Changan was a bit dazed; looking at it this way, this small shield also seemed to be a Magic Treasure, though its quality was probably not as good as the bronze small cauldron.

But it should still be decent. If everyone had Magic Treasures that could change size, wouldn't this world be in chaos?

Then his predecessor's identity was worth considering. How did someone with such good treasures die?

Either the predecessor had some background, or it was passed down from ancestors!

Or the predecessor had come into a windfall and obtained such treasures. Which case it was, he didn't know!

Gu Changan was somewhat looking forward to that yellow pouch.

Perhaps because the predecessor had died or because there were no Restrictions at all, Gu Changan easily poured everything out.

A few pieces of clothing, several ceramic bottles, several unknown plants, and a few sabers and swords, all of normal size.

There were also some white stones that looked like small pebbles. Could they be Spirit Stones? After all, that's how it's written in novels!

Gu Changan's suspended heart finally died; he had thought the predecessor had some Heaven-Defying background and that there would be massive resources and Spirit Stones in the Storage Pouch!

As it turned out, it was a total letdown!

Anyway, he was already quite satisfied; there was plenty of time ahead.

Gu Changan looked around, chose a direction he thought was relatively good, and began to move.

Along the way, he looked for any signs of human activity, hoping to find a human village or town.

In the end, he really did discover something unusual.

Not long after passing through the forest ahead, he found a large number of footprints. The entire sole of the footprint had five lobes; he didn't know what kind of animal it was!

The dense footprints stretched all the way into the distance!

It looked like they were meant to explore the marsh behind him.

Following the footprints, Gu Changan traveled for about fifty li and saw a small town.

He followed the crowd into the small town, watching as others paid a white spirit fragment and received a token.

Gu Changan also followed the flow and successfully entered the city.

Playing with the token in his hand, he couldn't feel anything unusual. Gu Changan felt this should be something like a Magical Artifact, at least able to distinguish which person it belonged to.

Such a token only allowed one to stay in the town for one day.

To stay longer, one had to pay—one white stone a day—unless one had property or a business in the town.

Gu Changan put away the token; it seemed he had to change his plan and find a job in the town.

Otherwise, those few stones wouldn't last more than a few days.

Gu Changan moved through the town, and seeing Loose Cultivators setting up stalls, he went forward to watch.

He finally figured it out: the white stones were called Spirit Stone fragments, also known as spirit fragments.

Ten spirit fragments equaled one Low-Grade Spirit Stone.

A Low-Grade Spirit Stone was a stone full of Spiritual Qi and rounded.

He only recognized it after seeing someone trade with a Low-Grade Spirit Stone, and he looked on with great envy!

Gu Changan's eyes were opened; the various treasures on the Loose Cultivators' stalls were overwhelming, and he took a cursory look at most of them.

He also figured out that the few plants in his Storage Pouch were likely ordinary medicinal materials, each worth about 5 spirit fragments.

As for Medicinal Pills, they were hard to judge.

They were all kept in pill bottles to prevent their medicinal properties from dissipating, and they would only be opened for inspection when someone wanted to buy.

Gu Changan could only give up; otherwise, wouldn't asking this and that about the simplest Medicinal Pill immediately give him away?

Telling others, "I'm a newcomer, a total noob"?

Gu Changan noted several stalls that purchased medicinal materials and several stalls that sold Cultivation Techniques.

He looked for an opportunity to sell those few medicinal materials and then buy some books on cultivation common knowledge, cultural geography, and so on.
