48: Mission Hall
Gu Changan took a general look at the Bounty Board.
Most of them were Cultivators from the Blood Fiend Alliance, and some were Cultivators who had offended the Tianji Pavilion.
For example, those who had stolen from the Sect or killed its Disciples—these people would end up on the Wanted List!
At the very top were several Hall Masters of the Blood Fiend Alliance, marked with Golden Core Stage cultivation, with bounties of hundreds of thousands of Contribution Points.
The highest among them was a Hall Master at the Peak of the Golden Core Stage, with a bounty of 800,000 Contribution Points.
Gu Changan's eyes burned with greed; 800,000 Contribution Points would be enough for him to spend for a long time!
But then he thought about his treasure gathering basin, haha!
It wasn't much after all!
Gu Changan estimated that very few people could kill him, which was why the bounty was so high.
Killing a Golden Core Stage Cultivator was extremely difficult, especially one at the Peak of the Golden Core Stage, and most importantly, a Hall Master.
Not to mention their own Peak Golden Core Stage cultivation, they also had an endless stream of treasures, and one would have to go into the heart of their School's territory.
This was the reason why the Contribution Points on these bounty lists remained so high!
Gu Changan wiped his drool and returned his gaze to the mission area on the left.
He wanted to see what missions he could take!
He browsed from top to bottom and found that there were roughly only a few types of missions!
Resource-type missions: These involved handing over specific resources in exchange for Contribution Points, going to fixed resource points for tasks, guarding, gathering, or mining!
Investigation-type missions: These occurred when unknown events happened in areas covered by the Sect. Disciples would ask for help, and the Sect would issue a mission to send Disciples to investigate.
Or it could involve infiltrating areas not covered by the Sect to gather specific information.
Combat-type missions: These were much simpler. The investigation was already complete, identifying where hostile forces were located!
Then, Disciples with strong combat power would be sent to eliminate them.
Or if resources were discovered somewhere, powerful Disciples would be sent to seize them.
Support-type missions: These missions were benefits for Sect Disciples, ensuring their basic livelihood.
For example, cleaning certain areas of the Sect or managing cities within the Sect's territory.
Or maintaining the operation of specific Formations!
After thinking it over, Gu Changan first ruled out support-type missions and combat-type missions. One was a waste of time with no benefits, and the other was too dangerous and didn't suit him.
That left resource-type missions and investigation-type missions.
He could take these two types, although resource-type missions might be difficult to accept.
For example, if the mission was to collect Spirit Medicine, then these medicines must be ones not found on the market!
If they weren't on the market, how could he duplicate them?
Unless he could use low-Rank Spirit Medicine to upgrade them!
He could give it a try when the time came!
But even if the upgrade was successful, he could probably only hand it in once!
Otherwise, if others had been trying to collect it for months or half a year without success,
and then you showed up, handing one in today and another tomorrow, even a fool would know something was wrong!
Most importantly, the duplicated Spirit Medicines were exactly the same.
For instance, if this medicine had four root fibers, that one would also have four, and they would be in the exact same spot; the entire stem would be identical.
This would make it easy to expose himself.
So, for resource-hand-in missions, he could only do each type once!
Then there were investigation-type missions. He could take those that were further away and less dangerous!
He could use that time to stay away from the Sect, Cultivate properly, and level himself up.
Although his Qi Concealment Art had been upgraded to yellow rank supreme grade, it could only hide 3 to 5 levels of Qi Refining Stage cultivation.
He was now at Qi Refining Level 6, but he appeared to be at Qi Refining Layer Three to others.
So, at most, once he reached Qi Refining Level 8, he would be exposed.
If he were outside, he wouldn't have so many concerns; he could just change his face and continue to Cultivate.
If he managed to Cultivate to the Foundation Establishment Stage, then it wouldn't matter whether he returned to the Sect or not.
Anyway, he hadn't made any soul lamp yet.
Leaving now would be very free, but if he reached the Foundation Establishment Stage, he might have to make a soul lamp.
At that point, if he wanted to leave, he might not be able to!
Gu Changan saw Ye Wei walking out and quickly went forward to ask about the doubts in his heart.
Ye Wei replied, "Oh, I see!"
"Come, let's talk outside!"
Gu Changan followed beside Ye Wei as they walked out!
Ye Wei: "Back then, the few of us were just as confused as you!"
"Later, Zhao Ye went out to ask around, and it turns out most people don't touch the Spirit Medicine given to New Disciples."
"One reason is that this Spirit Medicine is the last asset of a New Disciple."
"If it's taken, some Disciples will fight to the death, no longer caring about the Sect's rules."
"Similar things have happened in the past!"
Gu Changan nodded: "So that's how it is!"
Ye Wei: "Actually, the main reason is that it's strictly forbidden by the higher-ups!"
"Because you participated in the Sect trial, and the top 10 winners received rewards."
"If they were robbed the moment they turned around, what kind of future would such a Sect have?"
Gu Changan: "No one would want to participate in the Sect trials anymore!"
"The Sect would lose its cohesion!"
"Thinking about it, the Sect might let you fight over some Cultivation resources,"
"but stealing the Sect's rewards is like slapping the Sect's face!"
"No wonder we were able to keep them!"
"I thought they had forgotten!"
"By the way, how did you guys handle that Spirit Medicine?"
"Did you sell it for Spirit Stones? Or did you sell it back to the Mission Hall?"
Ye Wei smiled very happily: "Of course we sold it for Spirit Stones!"
"Selling it for Spirit Stones gets you 100 stones, which can buy 100 low-grade qi gathering pills!"
"But selling it back to the Mission Hall only gets you 50 Contribution Points!"
Gu Changan said in surprise: "50 Contribution Points?"
"Is the contribution point return for Spirit Medicine that low?"
"Isn't Spirit Medicine supposed to be scarce?"
Ye Wei nodded: "Yes and no!"
"Spirit Medicine is scarce, but it depends on which one!"
"For other Spirit Medicines, the Mission Hall also buys them back at 100 Contribution Points!"
"But the one we got was issued by the Sect, which means it's cultivated by the Sect!"
"It's called Star Grass, and it's only about 10 years old. It's the least valuable Spirit Medicine in our Sect!"
"It's grown on Heavenly Spirit Peak, in large-scale cultivation!"
"Now do you still think this kind of medicine is worth many Contribution Points?"
Gu Changan was dumbfounded: "Alright! That makes sense!"
Ye Wei: "Then I'll head off to do my mission!"
"You should also find some easy missions to do, stay away from the dangerous ones!"
"Whatever you do, don't follow the example of Shen Yan and Zhao Ye!"
Gu Changan was a bit confused: "What happened to them?"
"What kind of mission did they take?"
