147: Demon Lord's Night Raid

Night deepened.

Su Quan and the other two were arranged to stay in the best courtyard of the City Lord's Mansion.

The County Magistrate originally wanted to host a banquet for the three Dao Sect Immortals, but Lin Yao politely declined; as Cultivators, they possessed untainted bodies, and consuming the world's grains would only increase Impurities and hinder their cultivation.

"We shall rest for today, but we must not let down our guard. Bai Yongfeng acts arrogantly and is very likely to launch a proactive sneak attack!" Lin Yao whispered her warning in the courtyard.

Lin Yi crossed his arms, his tone arrogant. "If that Devil Head truly dares to come, I'll make her witness the prowess of This Young Master!"

Lin Yao nodded and glanced at Su Quan, saying, "Though my brother and I are only at the Integration Realm, our combined strength can face a Mahayana. I am unsure of Junior Brother Su's true strength, but as the Named Disciple of the Taiyi Ancestral Grand-Mistress, you must have your own extraordinary qualities!"

Her plan was simple: feign weakness to the enemy, lure Bai Yongfeng into attacking, and then eliminate her.

"However, even if that Devil Head doesn't show herself, there's no need to worry. This time, I've brought ten Hummingbirds, Dao Sect artifacts; within a radius of a million miles, she will have nowhere to hide!"

While speaking, Lin Yao took out ten exquisitely crafted, miniature mechanical artifacts. As she channeled Spiritual Qi, the ten mechanical Hummingbirds slowly rose and eventually vanished into the night.

"Alright, everyone return to your rooms!"

Su Quan returned to his room.

The room wasn't large, but the decor was clean and tidy, with the floor and bedding swept spotless; it was clear the County Magistrate had put in a lot of effort.

He stood by the window; the bright moon hung high outside, exceptionally lonely, with only the faint, intermittent sound of the night watchman's clapper drifting in.

"Sleep, sleep!"

Su Quan shook his head and flopped onto the bed. His collar was slightly open, and by the moonlight, one could faintly glimpse his fair, jade-like skin.

Such a sensual scene would be enough to drive all the female Cultivators in the world mad.

"No Cultivating tonight!"

The Spiritual Qi in the Mortal Realm was incomparable to the Dao Sect's territory; it was not only thin but also mixed with a large amount of Impurities. Cultivating here was not only useless for one's Realm but also harmful.

"I just wonder what kind of methods Wei Changsheng will use!"

He stared blankly at the ceiling.

Gradually, Su Quan drifted into a slumber amidst his complicated thoughts.

After an unknown amount of time, he slowly opened his eyes and looked around, only to find himself in a magnificent garden filled with brilliant fragrance and dense Spiritual Qi.

The garden's decorations were extremely luxurious. Hundred-thousand-year-old precious herbs, which external Cultivators would fight to the death for, were planted here as casually as weeds. The Spirit Stones paving the ground were the finest Immortal Crystal Marrow; a piece the size of a fingernail would be worth the entire fortune of an ordinary Immortal.

"Brother, hug me! Brother, hug me!"

A soft, sweet voice came from behind him.

Su Quan turned around and saw a little girl, about five years old, with bare feet, sprinting toward him. With a few quick movements, she leaped into his arms.

The little girl wore twin ponytails, her beautiful face as delicate as carved pink jade, and her crimson eyes were as beautiful as rubies.

She raised her small pink fist and said with some pride, "Brother, I beat up Liu Hongluan again today. She wants to marry you away, but there's no way! Brother cannot get married!"

"You crazy girl, you're becoming more and more lawless. Quickly, follow Mother to the Liu Family to apologize!"

A middle-aged couple walked across the small bridge.

Their faces seemed shrouded in a mist; no matter how wide Su Quan opened his eyes, he couldn't see them clearly.

The little girl jerked her head to the side, her braid brushing against Su Quan's face, and huffed, "I won't apologize to that woman! She can't even beat me, so how could she protect Brother?"

Su Quan opened his mouth, but just as he was about to say something, a needle-like sting shot through his Divine Soul, and the scene shattered.

*Creak—*

Su Quan sat up abruptly, the wooden bed groaning under the sudden weight. His pupils were dilated, cold sweat seeped from his forehead, and he gasped for breath.

Again!

This was already the countless time he had appeared in that garden.

In the past five years, as long as his Divine Soul relaxed even slightly, he would be pulled into that illusion. However, each time, the illusion couldn't last long, shattering after about five seconds.

"System, System..."

His mouth felt dry as he called out softly.

Just then, a violent crashing sound erupted from the courtyard, followed by Lin Yao's sharp cry: "Junior Brother Su, the Devil Head is launching a night raid. Let's attack together!"

Su Quan didn't think further. With a tap of his toes, he slipped out through the window.

In the courtyard, Lin Yao and Lin Yi each brandished their Dharma Swords, joining forces to attack the black-robed figure in the sky.

The brilliant Sword Qi illuminated the night like day.

"The Taiyi Dao Sect disciples are here! Devil Head, surrender at once!"

*Boom—*

The black-robed figure threw a backhand punch.

A terrifying Qi Gang rippled across the surrounding ten thousand miles.

"Jie jie jie jie jie jie! You little brats from the Dao Sect think you can take on this old devil? You'd better call your Ancestral Master!"

As she spoke, she waved her hand again.

Endless Black Sand burst through the air.

"Watch out, it's a hidden weapon!"

Lin Yi's expression changed drastically.

He frantically circulated the Origin Qi within his body, sweeping his sword in a semi-circle to form a defensive stance with Lin Yao.

The Black Sand collided with the Sword Qi, emitting "sizzling" black smoke; clearly, the Black Sand was coated with potent poison.

The two barely managed to block it, but the Mortals in the city suffered. Large swathes of buildings were destroyed by the Black Sand, leaving the ground covered in corpses in an instant, with wails and cries echoing everywhere.

"Junior Brother Su, help us quickly!"

Lin Yao shouted.

Su Quan remained silent. The Nascent Soul within his Dantian lit up as endless Spiritual Qi flooded into his Eight Extraordinary Meridians. His eyes flashed with light as he soared into the air, his left arm striking toward the black-robed figure with heaven-shaking force.

"Oh? There's even a little mouse. I'll spare you all for today, then!"

Feeling that overbearing Fist Intent that seemed ready to shatter the sky, the black-robed figure's eyes narrowed involuntarily.

She waved her sleeves and transformed into a plume of black smoke, fleeing into the distance.

"Devil Head, where do you think you're going!"

Lin Yao stepped onto her Dharma Sword and transformed into a streak of light, taking the lead in the pursuit.

Lin Yi roared and followed as well. "Now that I'm making a move, today will be the day you die!"

Su Quan remained in the air, his cheeks twitching unnaturally.

Are these two really this reckless?

Based on the strength the black-robed figure just displayed, she was clearly stronger than Lin Yao and Lin Yi combined, and that might not even be her full power.

I really don't know how this sister and brother managed to Cultivate to the Integration Realm!

His expression shifted unsteadily. After thinking for a few seconds, he could only grit his teeth and give chase.

Retreating in the face of battle and leaving fellow disciples in danger was a great taboo of the Dao Sect. Even if he survived today, he would face severe punishment upon returning to the Sect.

With that thought, his figure turned into a bolt of lightning as he chased after them.

It wasn't completely hopeless right now. The black-robed figure's strength was unknown, but his own strength... was far from as simple as it appeared on the surface!
