Chapter 377 Major Events of the World

As the saying goes, a day in heaven is a year on earth.

Although the time flow difference between the Yuanqing Holy Realm and the Lower Realm where Yan Chu was located was not quite that large, while the Cold Ice Holy Sect was making its move, time in the Lower Realm was also passing rapidly.

Nearly a year had passed.

During this year, the World Society became a Holy Land in the Martial Forest, its reputation surpassing both the Buddhist and Daoist sects in one fell swoop, attracting countless martial artists who came for its fame.

Even though that legendary Blade Demon Yan Chu never once showed his face from beginning to end, it couldn't extinguish the enthusiasm of the people of the world; many people exchanged martial insights with other fellow practitioners here and gained much.

The World Society remained aloof from worldly affairs and did not expand aggressively outward.

Simultaneously, because of this, other forces in the Jianghu saw this and their original wariness towards Yan Chu and the World Society faded away.

Since he had no ambition to contend for the world, other ambitious figures began to gradually emerge.

Several major events occurred in the world during this time.

First was the Great Jin Dynasty Emperor Li Heming.

After returning from Heavenly Pillar Mountain, with no hope of Ascension left, he finally put all his focus on suppressing the rebellions across the world and reshaping the imperial court's structure.

He possessed a cultivation at the Early Stage of the Yuantai Realm, so the rejection from heaven and earth he faced was relatively small; furthermore, with the protection of the imperial seal of the realm, he could take action with more confidence.

With the death of the Buddhist Holy Monk Liaochen and a group of high monks from Nalanda Temple inside Heavenly Pillar Mountain, Buddhism lost its firmest pillar.

To suppress the rebellions, the first target Li Heming chose was the Buddhist sects.

But no one expected that just as he was attacking the Hanging Temple in Yongzhou, an old monk with a body like clay walked out from the Hanging Temple's blessed land, Mount Dà Ruò.

This old monk was part of the Hanging Temple's hidden foundation, a high monk of the Kong generation of Buddhism, belonging to the same generation as Master Kongming of the Ten Thousand Buddha Cave, and he possessed a formidable and resolute cultivation.

To delay aging, he had been hiding inside Mount Dà Ruò, turning his flesh and blood body into a clay statue, remaining in a state of semi-slumber.

Had Emperor Li Heming not personally come to attack, he would not have awakened from his slumber.

The two of them fought a great battle, fighting above Mount Dà Ruò until the heavens and earth lost color and the sun and moon grew dim.

Aside from the battle at Heavenly Pillar Mountain, this was the strongest battle to occur in the outside world in recent years; more than half of Yongzhou was affected by the battle's fluctuations, attracting countless eyes.

After the great battle, Emperor Li Heming led his people in retreat, and that old monk was also heavily injured and fell back into a slumber.

At that time, the rebellious Heavenly King Xue was hiding in the Hanging Temple.

After this battle, Xue Bai re-emerged in the Jianghu and raised the banner of righteousness once more.

The other rebel kings in various Regions had been quiet for a year, but because of this battle, the entire world became like boiling water, falling back into a chaotic melee.

Previously, everyone had been wary of the World Society and Yan Chu, fearing that being the first to stand out would draw the World Society's target.

In this battle, Yan Chu did not appear, and Emperor Li Heming also failed.

The Daoist sects also watched from the sidelines, not helping either side.

Everyone could see that the Luck of the Great Jin Dynasty had completely run out.

The entire Imperial Dynasty was already beyond redemption.

Originally, Emperor Li Heming wanted to pull out the hardest nail—the Buddhist sects—to intimidate the world, but not only did he fail to win, he also returned to the imperial palace in disgrace.

All the rebel kings knew that they only needed to attack the Central Prefecture, as someone else would deal with the Emperor.

The second event was the change in Southern Wei.

Originally, Southern Wei had the Old Dean of White Deer Academy as its stabilizing pillar, and the entire situation in Southern Wei was as stable as Mount Tai.

But with the Old Dean's death in Heavenly Pillar Mountain, the situation in Southern Wei also became chaotic.

And right at this time, the Holy Lotus Sect Venerable made a sudden and grand appearance.

Previously, the Holy Lotus Sect Venerable had been titled State Preceptor by the Southern Wei Emperor, but he was a figure without real power, merely the product of a brief cooperation between the two parties.

But with the Old Dean's passing, the Holy Lotus Sect Venerable stabilized the situation in Southern Wei by himself, firmly grasping all of Southern Wei in his hands.

After this, the Holy Lotus Sect did not rush to participate in the struggle for world hegemony, but began to distribute its disciples throughout Southern Wei, including several prefectures of the Great Jin Dynasty that had previously been captured by Southern Wei, which all became the Holy Lotus Sect's territory, firmly rooted.

All the Southern Wei martial artists were under strict surveillance, and the entire Southern Wei was in a state of panic, not knowing what the Holy Lotus Sect intended to do.

But an atmosphere of "the wind sweeping through the tower before the mountain rain comes" had enveloped the entire country, and the air grew increasingly heavy.

These matters also caught the attention of the martial artists in the Great Jin Dynasty.

But now, the Holy Lotus Sect controlled the borders extremely strictly, and only sporadic news came from Southern Wei.

Rumors said the Holy Lotus Sect was searching for precious resources everywhere and had also ordered the Southern Wei imperial court to offer three thousand young boys and girls; no one knew what grand scheme the high-level officials were plotting.

The third event occurred in the Western Regions.

The number one force in the Western Regions was the Ten Thousand Buddha Cave.

The Ten Thousand Buddha Cave was the ancestral home of Buddhism, and Master Lichen was the holy monk of the current generation.

When he was around, all the Devil Heads and petty people in the Western Regions didn't dare show their faces; otherwise, they would face the suppression of the Ten Thousand Buddha Cave and Lantuo Temple.

But after the trip to Heavenly Pillar Mountain, most of these people died at Yan Chu's hands; even though there were still many experts in the temple, they had lost the kind of suppressive power that could crush everything as before.

An organization called the White Bone Asura emerged in the Western Regions.

The leader of this organization called himself the Asura King, and there were five other people of the Evil Path in the organization whose status and cultivation were equal to his: the Underworld Abyss King, the Rakshasa King, the Myriad Tribulations King, the Withered Bone King, and the Fallen God King.

These people were collectively known as the Six Shura Heavenly Kings!

Recently, members of the White Bone Asura slaughtered a small country in the Western Regions, drawing two high monks of the Fa generation from the Ten Thousand Buddha Cave, Fa Ru and Fa An, to investigate, only for them to be cruelly murdered by the Withered Bone King who was lying in ambush.

The bones of the two high monks were stripped out, and only two sets of complete flesh were sent back to the Ten Thousand Buddha Cave.

This matter caused a massive uproar in the Western Regions.

The wrath of the Ten Thousand Buddha Cave was ignited, and they joined forces with Lantuo Temple to launch several great battles against the leader of the White Bone Asura in the Western Regions.

The result was shocking.

The ancestral home of Buddhism suffered heavy losses, and even the spiritual land of the Ten Thousand Buddha Cave was invaded by the Underworld Abyss King, one of the Six Shura Heavenly Kings, who killed many high monks who specialized in Buddhist dharma and studied Buddhist scriptures.

These high monks' cultivations were not high, as they usually focused on studying Buddhist scriptures; they were the treasures within the Ten Thousand Buddha Cave, and their status in Buddhism was no less than that of some experts with profound cultivation in the Deva Realm.

After this incident, the Ten Thousand Buddha Cave and Lantuo Temple had to shrink their sphere of influence to recuperate.

The White Bone Asura organization grew large because of this, controlling two-thirds of the countries in the Western Regions and casting covetous eyes on Liangzhou Prefecture, Region, and other places.

In short, after the events at Heavenly Pillar Mountain ended, the situation of the world not only failed to calm down but became increasingly chaotic.

The Great Jin Dynasty Luck was exhausted; it was the time for heroes to vie for the throne.

The current Jianghu was much more lively than it had been several years or even decades ago!

In Cangzhou Prefecture, within the World Society.

Inside the hall where Yan Chu was, there was not a single person within a radius of several hundred feet.

Before going into seclusion, Yan Chu had given a strict order that no one was allowed to approach; in this year, even his bedfellows like Su Zhirou and Han Yunlu had not been able to see him once.

Of course, Yan Chu did this for their own good.
