Lanzhi grass great harvest

Director Wu knocked on the door of the principal's office with some trepidation.

Principal Zheng, Zheng Chi, who was working at his desk, let him in without even raising his head.

Once inside, Director Wu told the principal exactly how Gu Xiaoyue and Chu Li had exploited loopholes in the rules, leading to complaints from many students.

However, he did not mention that Chu Li had talked back to him, or that he had tried to force them into submission by threatening them with disciplinary action and expulsion.

After listening, Principal Zheng laughed heartily. "These two children are quite interesting! But Old Wu, you didn't tell me everything, did you? I reckon if you were able to keep them in check, you wouldn't have come to me!"

Director Wu pulled a long face. "How was I supposed to know they were so stubborn? I spoke nicely at first, but later, when I said they would be expelled if they didn't accept the punishment, they even talked back to me!"

Principal Zheng thought for a moment. "You say the rules have loopholes and they exploited them, but I think the biggest loophole is that Chu Li's strength is just too great! Tell me, if someone were stronger than Chu Li, could they have exploited this loophole? If you had that kind of strength, I think you'd be eager to pamper your wife to the skies!"

"This—" Director Wu thought about it, and it seemed to make sense.

"I think things are fine as they are. Those with complaints should just work hard and defeat them! This is an era where strength reigns supreme. What, you want to drive them both away and have them teach us another lesson during the National Competition? From what you've said, Chu Li's strength is among the top tier in the entire Dragon Kingdom. Even if Gu Xiaoyue isn't as good as Chu Li, based on her college entrance exam scores, how much worse could she be? Alright, I've still got a pile of work to do, go back and think it through!"

With the matter settled, Gu Xiaoyue and Chu Li hadn't taken it to heart in the first place, but the happiest person was Director Ding XinYu.

Her bonus had almost been lost, but fortunately the principal downplayed the incident and smoothed things over with Director Wu, so she didn't have to lose any star coins.

Gu Xiaoyue had exchanged for all her lanzhi grass for the month, and then she remembered the monster-slaying mission previously issued by the system. She could get a lot more lanzhi grass from that!

She met up with Chu Li and went to find Head Teacher Ding to ask her to help open a monster combat simulator so she could complete the mission.

After Gu Xiaoyue completed Mission 7 and Mission 8, she received 28 leaves of lanzhi grass directly. She felt like she had struck it rich overnight.

She immediately gave three leaves each to Ye Wanrou and Chen Yixuan.

Ye Wanrou's mouth dropped open in an 'O' shape. "Xiao Yue, where did you get so much lanzhi grass?"

"Chu Li gave it to me." Gu Xiaoyue said casually without thinking.

Ye Wanrou was a bit skeptical. "Is he really that nice?"

But thinking back to the obscure expression on Chu Li's face when Xiao Yue gave her the lanzhi grass before—perhaps it really was Chu Li's. In that case, she wouldn't stand on ceremony; Young Master Chu was loaded, after all!

On the day before the second Freshman Ranking list was released, Gu Xiaoyue and Chu Li repeated their old trick. Head Teacher Ding knew their routine and didn't say anything.

Gu Xiaoyue firmly secured the first place on the Freshman Ranking list.

The few students who had gone to find the head teachers before went again, expressing their dissatisfaction even more strongly. However, the head teachers seemed to have coordinated with each other, instead urging them to work hard and focus their efforts on defeating Chu Li.

One student who was still unwilling to give up snuck off to find the Dean. However, they were told that the school leadership hoped everyone could find and improve upon the loopholes in the rules while in adversity. The implication was clear: either win through strength or keep quiet.

Consequently, even if there were dissatisfied students, no one went to report the situation to the head teachers or the Dean anymore. After all, the situation had been reported many times, and the point of contention remained whether or not one could defeat Chu Li.

However, many people were still unconvinced because they had never seen Gu Xiaoyue take action, yet they knew of Gu Xiaoyue's trash-tier constitution.

"As for this thing called strength—I actually think that being able to make Young Master Chu willing to yield the throne of first place to you is a form of strength, too." Ye Wanrou tilted her head, petting Xiao Mo in her arms as they sat on the bed in their dormitory, chatting idly.

It was strange to say, but while other pet beasts couldn't control the size of their bodies, Mengji could. So, sometimes Gu Xiaoyue would let it out, and she and Ye Wanrou would pet it together.

"But many people can't wrap their heads around it; they just feel like I'm taking advantage of Chu Li. At the end of the day, it's because Chu Li is willing, so what does it have to do with them? It's like they're standing on the moral high ground, scrutinizing and criticizing others, when in reality, they can't even sort out their own affairs."

Gu Xiaoyue knew there were still some people who had complaints about her, but she didn't care. She just wanted to get what she wanted, and that was enough.

She didn't want to hurt anyone—if their pitiful glass hearts counted, then she was sorry!

"Exactly! If Chen Yixuan could be like that, I'd be over the moon!" Ye Wanrou rolled her eyes, and her little face instantly flushed red.

Gu Xiaoyue gave a mischievous smile. Could these two have developed feelings over time?

Ye Wanrou picked up Xiao Mo and held it in front of her face with a shy expression. Xiao Mo didn't understand what was going on and let out "Mo—Mo—" sounds, its two tails swaying uneasily.

Gu Xiaoyue took Xiao Mo back into her arms, watching Ye Wanrou, whose face was as red as a boiled shrimp. "If you two like each other, then just be together."

"But—but Xiao Yue, I know he was your first love. I can't steal a man from my best friend; that's too immoral!"

Ye Wanrou had always thought Chen Yixuan had a good personality, but until one day, when she realized she seemed to have fallen for Chen Yixuan—she berated herself: how could she like the same man as her best friend!

Gu Xiaoyue's mind went blank for a few seconds as she gently stroked Xiao Mo's fur. If it were the original owner, she might have minded, but she wasn't her. The current Gu Xiaoyue only hoped for Ye Wanrou and Chen Yixuan's happiness.

"That was all a long time ago. The point is how Chen Yixuan feels. Anyway, if you guys can be together, I'd give it my full support!"

This remark made Ye Wanrou's face turn even redder, and she pounced on Gu Xiaoyue to playfully wrestle with her.

Over two months had passed, and Gu Xiaoyue had exchanged for 10 pieces of qiu mu grass. She still had 16 pieces of lanzhi grass in her possession, and she planned to find a time to sell 10 of them.

Consequently, after Xiao Qi, Xiao Jiu, and Qingqing had successively reached the 10th level of the Young life stage, she arranged to go to the Beastmaster Association with Chu Li.

Being a provincial capital as well, Hechuan, where Nanya was located, was much more prosperous than Qingyu City.

Gu Xiaoyue also found it troublesome to look for an auction house; it was faster to just go directly to the Beastmaster Association.

Upon arriving at the Beastmaster Association, Gu Xiaoyue said she wanted to sell some materials. The two young girls in charge of reception were there. One looked delicate and weak, while the other looked sunny and energetic.

Both introduced themselves; the more delicate one was named Guan Yue, and the sunnier one was called Dong Xin Xin.

"Please come and register first. You are still students, right?" While speaking, Guan Yue glanced secretly at Chu Li, her face flushing red.

Gu Xiaoyue was used to it; Chu Li was handsome and had an outstanding temperament, which was almost guaranteed to attract young girls.

The registration information required was quite comprehensive, including talents, attributes, and so on, since they would eventually have to participate in promotion exams at the Beastmaster Association, and they would have to be on file sooner or later.

Gu Xiaoyue filled out the registration form and handed it to Guan Yue. Guan Yue took a look, set the materials aside, and said to Dong Xin Xin, "Xin Xin, you handle this person!" Then she ran over to Chu Li's side to chat with him.

Gu Xiaoyue was a bit confused; what kind of move was that?
