42: Chapter 42 The Steel Monster, Ramming Around

"Pei Ji, grip the steering wheel tighter. If you shake again, I'll throw you out the sunroof!"

Qin Feng leaned back in the leather passenger seat and casually patted the still-shivering Pei Ji. His tone was calm, and his gaze swept playfully over the alley entrance ahead, where a police cordon had already been set up.

"Brother... is this thing even meant for carbon-based lifeforms to drive?"

Pei Ji looked at the dense array of dashboards before him and the steering wheel, which was larger than a millstone. His previously weak legs suddenly felt as if they had been injected with adrenaline. He gripped the wheel tightly, veins bulging on the back of his hands, his eyes erupting with a madness born from extreme fear.

He slammed his foot onto the floor.

"Boom—!!"

The V10 engine, crazily modified by Chen Haonan's black market factory, instantly let out a roar like an ancient dragon. The entire Ford F-650 surged forward like an ignited rocket, its massive body lunging ahead, the tongues of flame from the exhaust pipe even licking the trash cans behind it.

"Stop it! Quickly, stop it!"

The SWAT Captain at the alley entrance had his pupils shrink. In his line of sight, that wasn't a car; it was a mountain of steel moving at high speed.

Two Santana police cars parked side-by-side in the middle of the road looked like two shivering soda cans in front of this behemoth.

"Ram through it!"

Qin Feng whispered, a look of unbridled arrogance appearing on his face.

"Here we go!"

Pei Ji roared, gritting his teeth.

"Bang—!!"

A sound of tearing metal exploded in the night sky. The modified F-650's ten-centimeter-thick manganese steel bumper precisely cut into the side of the police car. Sparks flew, and the entire street was filled with the ear-piercing sound of metal grinding.

Those police cars, usually considered indestructible, were now as fragile as paper, pushed over a dozen meters away instantly. One of them even rolled in the air before crashing heavily into a flower bed.

"Damn! That's so damn tough!"

Pei Ji was so excited his face turned red. He felt a slight vibration from the steering wheel, but the overwhelming feedback of power made him feel like he was floating.

"Keep going, don't stop. Target: the overpass."

Qin Feng didn't even look at the chaos left behind. He casually tapped the screen, switching to the police communication channel.

The headset was filled with chaotic shouts: "Requesting backup! The suspect is driving an unidentified armored vehicle and has broken through the perimeter! Requesting spike strips! Requesting support from mine-resistant ambush-protected vehicles!"

"Heh."

Qin Feng smiled vaguely. He looked at the string of red and blue police lights in the rearview mirror like a long dragon, his tone cold: "If you want to catch me, this level of show isn't enough."

At this moment, over Jianghai City.

Three media helicopters were risking having their licenses revoked, flying low over the urban jungle, broadcasting this shocking scene in real-time to viewers across the entire network.

"Dear viewers! Look below! This is practically a real-life version of 'Death Race'!"

The commentator's voice was extremely high-pitched amidst the roaring wind; he was almost shouting into the microphone: "That man named Qin Feng is driving a steel behemoth, tearing through the West District! The police's ordinary sedans can't even get close to it; any attempt to cut it off is like suicide!"

In the live stream chat, the comments were already going completely wild.

"Does anyone get it? I really love this kind of aesthetic of violence!"

"Is that a tank? It must be a tank!"

"This guy is too intense, is he playing Jianghai City like GTA?"

"Give the driver a bonus! This charge gets full marks!"

At this moment, Su Tang, sitting in the back seat, was pressed against the bulletproof glass, watching the neon lights receding rapidly outside. She was still clutching her lollipop, but her eyes were like she was watching a fireworks show, and she excitedly slapped her thigh: "Brother, does this count as a self-driving tour of the whole city?"

Alice coldly checked the sawed-off shotgun in her hands, her tone indifferent: "If you don't speed up, the police helicopters behind will catch up."

"Pei Ji, did you hear that?"

Qin Feng glanced sideways at the speedometer.

"Got it, Brother Feng! Let these bumpkins see what a true Jianghai racing god is!"

Pei Ji grinned viciously and yanked the steering wheel hard to the right. The tires rubbed crazily against the asphalt, emitting pungent white smoke. The entire vehicle, in an extremely bizarre drifting posture, slid sideways onto the overpass entrance leading to the city center.

The two police SUVs in hot pursuit tried to imitate this maneuver, but because their center of gravity was too high, they flipped over right at the entrance, sliding dozens of meters before stopping.

"A bunch of losers!"

In the headquarters command room, Zhao Shanhe slammed his hand onto the table. Watching that swaggering steel silhouette on the big screen, his eyes turned red, and he roared through gritted teeth: "Contact the Traffic Management Bureau for me! Activate all tire spikes on the third section of the overpass! I don't care how heavy that car is; as long as it has no tires, it's just a pile of scrap metal!"

Xie Qingshang sat in the corner, staring intently at the moving red dot. He whispered: "He's not that stupid. Getting on the overpass is a dead end; he must have a backup plan."

"Backup plan? I'll just make him blow a tire!"

Zhao Shanhe grabbed the walkie-talkie: "Activate the tire spikes! Quickly!"

On the third section of the overpass, on the straight bridge deck, dozens of rows of sharp triangular tire spikes instantly popped out from the expansion joints, shimmering with a chilling cold light under the dim streetlights.

This thing is known as the bane of heavy trucks.

"Brother Feng! There are spikes ahead!"

Pei Ji's heart skipped a beat. Looking at the array of steel spikes covering the entire road ahead, cold sweat dripped down his temples. At this speed, if all four tires blew out, they would lose control and flip off the overpass.

Below the bridge was the river, dozens of meters deep.

"I see it."

Qin Feng sat up straight, his gaze like a torch, his fingers calculating the tilt angle rapidly on the tablet.

"Drive to the left, stay close to the guardrail."

"What? That guardrail is made of concrete! It'll scrape off the car paint!"

Pei Ji exclaimed.

"Less talking! Listen to me! Press the left wheels onto the slope at the base of the guardrail. Maintain a speed of 110, prepare to tilt!"

Qin Feng ordered in a deep voice.

Pei Ji's pupils dilated. He understood. Qin Feng wanted to pull off 'two-wheel driving.'

By using the roughly thirty-centimeter concrete slope at the base of the overpass guardrail, he would force the left side of the vehicle to take the weight, forcing the right-side tires to hang in the air, thereby avoiding the tire spikes laid on the right side and center of the road.

"This... this is a miracle of physics! Brother! What if we flip?"

"There is no 'what if'."

Qin Feng's tone exuded a sense of absolute control, "Now, turn left five degrees, drive up!"

"Let's do it!"

Pei Ji roared, his entire body trembling. He yanked the steering wheel, and the multi-ton steel behemoth seemed to understand its master's will, roaring as it slammed into the concrete guardrail.

"Screech—!!!"

The ear-piercing sound of grinding metal exploded instantly. The left front wheel crushed onto the slope, and the massive inertia combined with the lateral thrust caused the right side of the monster's body to lift upward sharply.

Amidst the screams of countless viewers, this black F-650 actually, like a circus act, sped along the guardrail slope in a forty-five-degree tilted posture, with one side of its wheels suspended in the air.

"Crunch, crunch—"

Sparks drew a brilliant trail over a hundred meters long across the overpass.

The suspended right-side tires just happened to pass over those deadly steel spikes.

"My god... he did it..."

The commentator in the helicopter was so shocked he forgot to breathe, not even noticing the headset in his hand dropping to the floor.

In that instant, the entire Jianghai City seemed to fall silent, with only the roaring of that rampaging monster remaining.

Xie Qingshang stood up abruptly, and the pencil he had been holding in his hand was snapped in two.

This had already exceeded the scope of acting.

This was naked provocation, a ruthless crushing of existing physics and rules.

"This kid..."

Zhao Shanhe stared blankly at the screen. The diamond worth 300 million in his pocket was still digging into his leg; at that moment, he suddenly felt that the necklace was well worth it.

"Bang!"

As the vehicle landed steadily, crossing the spike array, Pei Ji felt completely drained, gasping for air, but a crazed smile hung on his face: "Brother Feng! Did you see that! I've become a god, damn it!"

Qin Feng leaned back into his seat, his expression calm. He glanced at the system shock value that was skyrocketing crazily, a slight smile appearing at the corner of his mouth.
