2: Chapter 2 Heading Straight to Hangzhou!
In front of the computer, the study was spacious, but Lei Jun's focus was entirely on that palm-sized chat box.
The message that remained unanswered for so long made it impossible for him to calm his mind.
To a certain extent, if he were to start a business, many investors would likely flock to him, but compared to investment, he valued resources more.
"What's wrong? You seem distracted. Is Xinshan inviting you back to go up against Microsoft again??"
Microsoft footsteps approached, and a gentle voice made Lei Jun shake his head involuntarily as he took the fruit platter.
"I'm waiting for a message from someone." Lei Jun sighed softly, picked up a toothpick, speared a slice of cut Apple, and popped it into his mouth.
"Waiting for someone's message?" The woman, who wasn't stunningly beautiful but had a look that grew on you the longer you stared, clearly showed a trace of astonishment on her face.
"You're surprised too, aren't you?" A wry smile couldn't help but appear on Lei Jun's face.
"A business partner?"
"Yes." Lei Jun nodded.
"Which big company's employee is it, to make you so distracted?" Zhang Tong pulled up a chair from the side and sat down.
She curiously stretched her neck to look at the screen. To be honest, even when their business failed over a decade ago, he had only given a wry smile. The last time he was this distracted was on the eve of Xinshan's IPO.
Their long-standing goal was finally about to be reached; she understood why he was distracted back then, but this time, she truly didn't understand.
After all, they had built everything from nothing, growing a small company into a listed corporation.
"It's not from a big company; it's an online friend I've known for a year. If I can invite them to start a business together, I have a premonition that we can definitely build a technology company that will shock the world..." Lei Jun's tone was full of certainty.
That spirited look made Zhang Tong glance at him, feeling as if she had dreamed back to their college days, seeing that high-spirited young man.
Zhang Tong subconsciously leaned in toward the screen, watching the pulsating avatar. Accompanied by a 'ding' sound, an address appeared.
"No. 39, Xinmin Group, Qianjiang Village, Hangzhou City..."
The 'ding' sound rang out, immediately attracting Lei Jun's attention.
"I'll go with you."
"Okay."
...
Early morning.
On the outskirts of Hangzhou City, although there wasn't the bustle of the city center, the air was very good.
However, the streets were remote, and there were weeds on both sides of the road.
A dirt road ran off to the side; because it had just rained a couple of days ago, some mud had gathered into small puddles in the middle of the path.
A dilapidated square warehouse stood at the end of the dirt road.
Although the Xinshan was definitely not good—it was essentially a large warehouse at the end of the village and in a remote area—precisely because of that, the environment was very quiet.
The inside of the warehouse was somewhat empty. A young man wearing black trousers and a white collared T-shirt stood in front of a large blackboard, sometimes frowning, sometimes writing furiously.
The blackboard was covered in dense formulas, and the long table next to it was covered in papers.
On the papers were various numerical formulas, as well as some diagrams outlined with lines.
"It took a year, but I've finally reconstructed the entire important framework..."
Zhou Fan exhaled a breath of stale air, looking at the pile of drawings in front of him, a satisfied smile appearing on his face.
He casually picked up one, which was a design concept diagram. As he thought carefully, it came alive in his mind, arranging and combining itself with thin lines, as if carved into his brain, impossible to forget even if he wanted to.
"Abilities really do get stronger with practice." The satisfied smile on Zhou Fan's face grew wider. Since his rebirth, it wasn't just his memory that had greatly improved.
Even his brain had undergone a huge change. He could use lines to outline objects. Take a car, for example; if he had detailed blueprints, he could clearly and accurately grasp the proportions and dimensions of every single screw's detail inside.
Such an ability was an incredibly strong boost for him as someone working in scientific research.
If he had possessed this ability in his past life, the Room-Temperature Superconductivity project, which he had studied for decades, might have been realized long ago.
His biggest regret was failing to witness the breakthrough in Room-Temperature Superconductivity research. Once a breakthrough in Room-Temperature Superconductivity was achieved, it would mean a complete revolution in fields like energy, medicine, and transportation.
A great technological leap no less significant than the Industrial Revolution.
Lossless power grids, superconducting energy storage, maglev trains, superconducting computers... all would become reality.
As researchers in Room-Temperature Superconductivity, they joked with each other that they were pioneers on the road, destined to live with loneliness, but once successful, it would surely be like Controllable Nuclear Fusion, becoming a twin star existence.
Controllable Nuclear Fusion solved the problem of clean energy, and it was nearly inexhaustible.
And if Room-Temperature Superconductivity could be successfully researched, it would solve long-standing technological barriers; perhaps the resulting great technological leap could even make venturing into the sea of stars possible.
"Finished organizing... Next, I have to figure out how to verify it. After verification is complete, I'll have to consider recruiting researchers to conduct in-depth studies..."
"For verification, I need experimental equipment... related equipment development, and updates to related materials... all of which require money..."
Zhou Fan had spent a year since his rebirth, experiencing that prejudice was a huge mountain. So, during this year, he hadn't entertained other thoughts, but instead focused on organizing the materials for Room-Temperature Superconductivity.
Now that the data organization was nearing its end, for the next step of verification, not to mention building a laboratory, the equipment definitely required money.
Zhou Fan pondered for a moment, carefully classified the files on the long table one by one, put them into a file bag, and locked them in a stainless steel cabinet next to him—a cabinet that could keep out honest people but not thieves.
Inside the cabinet were piles of materials. These were the general framework materials for Room-Temperature Superconductivity that he had spent a year organizing, along with detailed research on certain directions.
Zhou Fan had just finished everything and turned back to tidy up the long table when the warehouse's iron door clanged and clattered.
With a harsh creaking sound, two young men walked into the warehouse.
"I told you he would definitely be here on the weekend!"
Before the person arrived, his loud voice arrived first; he was clearly a talkative person.
He stepped into the warehouse as if it were his own home, immediately heading to a corner, his eyes filled with undisguised appreciation.
"Wow, these rugged lines, the perfectly placed rust, the retro paint job..."
Seeing his doting look, the young man with gold-rimmed glasses following behind him couldn't help but push up his glasses, his expression full of speechlessness.
"With all that praise, you might as well just say it's assembled from junk. Do you think Zhou Fan would hold it against you?" Chen Fei looked speechless, but he didn't move slowly; he immediately crowded in front of the model airplane, clearly having a strong interest in it as well.
Although the materials were a bit old, one had to admit that the detail processing between every component could be called perfect.
Wu Chen was retorted but didn't care; instead, he fixed his gaze on Zhou Fan and said with a chuckle:
"Old Zhou! Let's three brothers start a business together, open a model airplane factory. If we succeed, by the time I graduate from high school, I'll definitely be worth a million. If anyone dares to bring up college entrance exam scores with me, I'll just smash them in the face with money and let them know what real awesomeness is!"
Wu Chen touched the rust on the model airplane. If he could make such a model with just some scrap metal, if they really opened a factory, he didn't believe model airplane enthusiasts wouldn't buy it.
As the recognized bottom-ranked student in the third year of Hangzhou City No. 6 High School, and a failure in the eyes of the dean of students, Wu Chen desperately needed to find a way to prove himself.
"Uncle Wu seems to have said that if you don't study well, it doesn't matter if you spend your days drinking and carousing, or even working as a gigolo, but you are absolutely not allowed to start a business!" Chen Fei stated a fact very calmly.
This immediately made Wu Chen pause, and the excitement on his face faded slightly.
"Hmph... You should only listen to half of what my dad says at most. Entrepreneurship is about talent; my dad simply doesn't understand my talent..." Wu Chen hummed softly, a look of stubbornness on his face.
"When was the last time your dad hit you?" Zhou Fan, who had walked over from the side, asked curiously.
"A week ago, I guess..."
"Then your tone is justified."
"..." Wu Chen's face froze, and he was immediately unconvinced.
"Zhou Fan, I'm trying to make you rich, and you look at me like that? Are we still brothers or not..."
"We are brothers, but don't start a business..." Zhou Fan said with a serious tone.
Wu Chen's father was right. It didn't matter if Wu Chen drank and caroused, or even worked as a gigolo, but he definitely couldn't start a business. In his past life, Uncle Wu hadn't been strict enough, and in the end, he had been worn down by persistent pestering, which resulted in a bloody lesson.
