228: Bright Star, a magical civilization

"Holy Shield!"

"Mirror Refraction!"

"Holy Judgment!"

The three white-robed mages shouted together. Two defensive spells immediately blocked their front, while a beam of brilliant white light shot out, aimed directly at the Bone Witch.

The Bone Witch's Soul fire flickered slightly, and a layer of deep purple shield enveloped itself and Sean.

The brilliant white beam instantly submerged the two figures.

Meanwhile, in the sky, three ghost soul arrows struck the outermost Mirror Refraction.

Under their horrified gazes, the arrows paused for a moment.

Before they could breathe a sigh of relief, the arrows pierced through the Mirror Refraction spell, penetrated the Holy Shield, and shot into their foreheads in the next instant.

The boundless Power of Lost Souls exploded within their mental worlds!

In almost an instant, the mental cores of the three were crushed to pieces.

Instant kill!

The light in the white-robed mages' eyes faded, and their figures slowly fell from the high sky.

When the dust settled, Sean tremblingly raised his head, just in time to see this scene.

Dead?

Dead!

The white-robed mages of the Holy Court, who had been hunting him for years, were actually dead!

Sean's gaze couldn't help but fall upon the thin Lich in front of him, his eyes filled with disbelief.

He was somewhat aware of this Lich's strength, but he never imagined...

That it could actually wipe out three high-order Magi in a single strike!

And they were Light-element Magi directly under the Radiant Holy Court!

Sean could feel that those three deep purple arrows indeed contained an extremely overbearing Power of Lost Souls.

From this point alone, it indeed belonged to the dark-element magic commonly used by Liches.

But for some reason, Sean always felt something was off.

Those arrows didn't have the gloom or evil feeling of dark-element magic at all.

Instead, they had a sort of... majesty like heavenly punishment?

Dark-element, majesty?

For a moment, Sean couldn't help but feel a bit of absurdity at his own thought.

In the next moment, the Lich slowly turned around, its skull tilting slightly as it observed the foreign human before it.

Brown hair, blue eyes, and a gray mage robe that was tattered and worn.

He also held a five or six-foot-long staff in his hand, with a black crystal embedded at the head.

The overall image looked very much in line with the characteristics of the Magic Civilization.

The Soul fire in its eye sockets flickered slightly. The Lich raised its hand and grabbed, extracting the magic items from the three corpses.

Under Sean's terrified and apprehensive gaze, it picked him up and flew directly toward the depths of the mountain range.

At the same time, a wisp of black flame fell, burning the three corpses to ash... Several hours later, in a hidden cave.

Sean huddled in a corner, secretly observing the Lich in front of him, which was currently flipping through a magic book.

His gaze held curiosity, apprehension, and a hint of yearning.

That magic book was precisely what had been scavenged from the white-robed mages' magic bracelets.

None of this was strange.

What puzzled Sean the most was: could this Lich understand it?

In the Magic Civilization, there were the Human Common Tongue, Demonic Beast Language, Dragon Language, Elven Language, Undead Language, Monster Language... the types of languages were countless.

If Sean remembered correctly, this Lich should have come from some secret undead land; it wasn't a Lich transformed from a human mage.

Nor was it the kind of highly knowledgeable undead.

If it weren't so, how could he, a mere Peak Great Mage, have established a summoning contract with it?

What he had seen and heard in these few hours simply overturned his imagination.

"So, this Radiant Holy Court is just a power established by a Saint Realm Magister."

Su Ling raised his head, the Soul fire in his eyes looking directly at Sean on the other side of the fire, sending out a thought, "And this Minghui Star is just a Plane located at the outermost edge of the Magic Civilization world?"

Long ago, when he took the Bone Witch's Soul fire into the ten thousand souls banner, its Soul consciousness had already been controlled by Su Ling.

After so many years of researching the ten thousand souls banner, he had long been able to occupy the body of any ghost within the banner with his Divine Soul.

This method was somewhat similar to the effect of the soul imprints of the Nascent Soul Elders of the Xuanming Sect.

Detecting that what appeared beneath the Bone Witch was a summoning array.

Out of curiosity, Su Ling immediately left a wisp of his Divine Soul in its Soul core, following the Bone Witch across time and space to this Plane of unknown distance.

The one who used the Nether Soul Arrow Secret Art earlier was also him.

Moreover, the place where Sean drew the summoning array still had the residual Power of Lost Souls from his two uncles.

With his Divine Soul power comparable to Soul Transformation, even if it was just a wisp, the Ghost Soul Arrow he performed was not something a mere white-robed mage comparable to the Late Nascent Soul Stage could withstand.

To be honest, Su Ling was still very interested in the Magic Civilization.

After all, in his previous life, he had indeed come into contact with many Western fantasy films, animations, and novels.

"That is indeed the case."

Sean nodded silently, conveying his thoughts via Mental Energy, "That Saint Realm Magister is a top-tier powerhouse who has mastered the Law of Light."

"Heh... Mastered the Law?"

The skull shook, and a slightly mocking thought entered Sean's mind.

It left him unsure of how to answer for a moment.

He had gradually grown accustomed to this way of conversing since arriving at this cave.

He also began to realize that the 'Lich' before him was definitely not the one he had signed a contract with before.

Or rather, the previous Lich was a complete and free individual.

Now, it had already been controlled by some powerhouse and had become a Puppet.

He just didn't know where this unknown powerhouse came from... Unlike the Immortal Domain Civilization, the Magic Civilization teaches much knowledge about the Astral Realm starting from magic apprentices.

This includes the characteristics and merits of many civilizations.

In a sense, the overall atmosphere of the Magic Civilization world is very open.

As long as one can pay the price, one can learn profound secret arts and magic from various academies and magic towers.

Conversely, in the Immortal Domain Civilization, without a certain background or strength, one simply cannot access knowledge of Astral Realm civilizations.

Profound Cultivation Techniques and secret arts are basically held in the hands of major Sects.

To obtain these techniques and arts, it's not something that can be exchanged for mere Spirit Stones or other resources.

In Su Ling's view, it was hard to judge which was superior.

A Saint Realm Magister is an existence comparable to a True Immortal in the cultivation world.

Cultivators can begin to comprehend Great Dao Laws starting from the Body Integration Stage.

For a True Immortal, their comprehension of Laws is only around 1% to 10%.

Even for a Golden Immortal powerhouse, it is only 11% to 50%.

Only when the degree of comprehension exceeds half can one attain the Taiyi stage.

What right does a mere Saint Realm Magister, comparable to a True Immortal, have to talk about 'mastering'?

Su Ling closed the magic book and tossed it to Sean.

What was recorded in this book were only light-element spells of the fourth rank and below.

He had already memorized all of its contents.

Observing Sean as he silently put away the magic book, Su Ling suddenly sent a thought, "I am very interested in the Magic Civilization and want to observe it more... If you have no objection, this Divine Thought can attach itself to you."

"Uh..."

Sean was stunned for a moment, then quickly nodded, "Of course, Sean is deeply honored!"

"In that case, open your mind."

"Okay."

Sean did not hesitate at all, immediately calming his mind with a Meditation Method and slowly opening his mind.
