128: Underworld Survival Rules

Xia Yuan's method of taking Lin Chuan away from District 81 was very simple and unpretentious: by train.

It was similar to a high-speed rail, but it was driven by Spirit Stones, making it faster and able to cross multiple large districts in a single day.

As for airplanes? The sky didn't entirely belong to humans.

The area where the inner city and the central city met, this circular region, didn't belong to any single district; it was called the University District.

Dozens of universities were located in this area, making communication very easy.

Before Lin Chuan could properly admire the scenery of Xuanwu University, Xia Yuan whisked him straight to the principal's office.

This scene, why did it feel so familiar?

"Old Wang, I've brought a student to report," Xia Yuan pushed the door open directly.

"Xia Yuan, you're a teacher, at least set a good example in front of the students," an old man in the office said helplessly.

Though, it was useless to say it.

Then, he looked at Lin Chuan beside Xia Yuan and said with a smile, "Lin Chuan, hello, I am Wang Xuanyi."

"Hello, Principal," Lin Chuan quickly greeted him.

The old man in front of him could only be described with one word: unfathomable.

"I don't know what Xia Yuan told you, but since you've joined Xuanwu University, I hope you prioritize protecting yourself first.

We old bones are still around; it's not yet at the point where students need to fight to the death."

"Principal, I understand."

"I'll have someone handle the enrollment procedures. You take Lin Chuan to see the academy first; maybe he'll change his mind! I, for one, agree to him changing his major, haha..."

Wang Xuanyi said with a hint of meaning.

"Damn it!" Xia Yuan was so angry he almost flipped the table.

He pulled Lin Chuan and turned to leave... After passing through layers of checkpoints, Lin Chuan was led to a Secret Realm space portal.

"Yu Ming Academy is built within a Secret Realm. Once your procedures are complete, you won't need me to accompany you in and out," Xia Yuan explained, seeing Lin Chuan's surprised expression.

Lin Chuan was speechless. Was that what he was surprised about? It felt like he was being closely guarded and monitored everywhere, not like a school, but rather a prison.

Upon entering the Secret Realm, everything suddenly became clear.

The internal portal was built on a sports field.

Buildings stood tall all around, no different from an ordinary school.

However, around the school, there were also arrays of military camps, giving off a very stern atmosphere.

"Dormitories are two-person rooms. This year, only you and Xia Siye are early entrants, so you two will share a room.

Oh, by the way, Xia Siye is my nephew; you've met him."

"Xia Siye?"

"Yes, his talent is average; you should guide him well."

Lin Chuan: ...Can an SS-rank talent be called average?

"By the way, will Long Chenhao come in?"

Speaking of talent, Lin Chuan naturally thought of Long Chenhao.

"No, first, the Long family won't let him take risks here, and second, his talent isn't extreme enough; entering the Underworld offers no particular advantage."

"Extreme?"

"That's right, defense, attack, or movement speed, Cultivation speed... In short, the more extreme, the better.

All-around development is very difficult to survive with here," Xia Yuan said as he walked.

All-around development is very difficult to survive with?

Lin Chuan unconsciously touched his nose.

His own positioning seemed to be defensive, extremely defensive.

Hmm, that's good, I'm a defensive type, I can survive, yay!

...The dormitory was a two-bedroom apartment with complete facilities.

After Xia Yuan brought Lin Chuan there, he left.

The official start of school was still a month away. During this time, Lin Chuan could Cultivate and read on his own, adapt to the environment, and even go to the areas outside the academy to see what the so-called Underworld truly was.

In short, it was very free.

Xia Yuan knew that for true Geniuses, time was the most precious thing; as long as he was given the right environment, he would naturally grow.

As for how to plan his time, there was no need to worry... Lin Chuan lay on the living room sofa, casually flipping through a copy of "Underworld Survival Guide."

This thing, just openly placed on the coffee table, wasn't it afraid of scaring students away?

Rule One: Do not challenge above your rank;

Rule Two: It's best to team up when going out, and teammates must not leave each other's sight;

Rule Three: When alone in the Underworld, trust no one;

...Rule Ninety-Nine: In an emergency, you can abandon your teammates.

...Lin Chuan glanced at it casually and then tossed it aside.

These rules, while perhaps important for ordinary people, were quite ridiculous for Lin Chuan.

They even included not being able to relieve oneself anywhere; was he supposed to carry a portable toilet?

"What, do you think it's useless?" Suddenly, a voice spoke from behind Lin Chuan.

"Damn it, you walk silently!" Lin Chuan was startled; he genuinely hadn't noticed someone appearing behind him.

"Sorry, it's a habit."

Xia Siye, dressed in a black tight-fitting suit, whether he had come out of his room or returned from outside, Lin Chuan hadn't felt any movement.

Xia Siye sat opposite Lin Chuan, and with a flick of his hand, an identical "Underworld Survival Guide" appeared in his hand, which he then also tossed aside.

"Generally speaking, a dormitory automatically forms a team. It's best if we keep our pace consistent.

Since you think it's useless, then it's useless."

"You trust me that much?" Lin Chuan said with some surprise.

"No choice, people really die here," Xia Siye sighed.

"Then why are you still here?"

"Defending the land and bringing peace to the people is the duty of the Xia clan," Xia Siye said seriously.

"Hmm..." Lin Chuan recalled that before the Yao Beast Secret Realm descended upon this world, the most powerful country on this continent seemed to be called Great Xia... "I will try my best not to let you die."

Lin Chuan looked at Xia Siye and thought he was a decent person; after all, he had given him five thousand Spirit Stones.

"Then thank you. The Underworld rules truly have no effect on you, haha..."

β€”Rule Ninety-Nine: You can abandon your teammates.

Saying that, Xia Siye extended a hand.

"Let's reintroduce ourselves. Yu Ming Army, Xia Siye."

"Lin Chuan."

Then, the two simply shook hands, formally acknowledging each other.

After agreeing to go see the Underworld outside the school together tomorrow, Xia Siye returned to his room.

Xia Siye had clearly arrived much earlier than Lin Chuan, perhaps even having trained here frequently during his high school years.

Lin Chuan just needed someone to help him get familiar with the environment.

"A good teammate!" Lin Chuan chuckled softly, recalling the information he had just investigated.

Beast Tamer: Night Shadow Demon Spirit (Elite Six-Star)

Skills:

Fatal Strike Lv9 (Passive, 50% chance to deal five times damage when attacking)

Shadow Assault Lv9 (Active, teleports behind an enemy within three hundred meters to attack, 100% chance to deal double damage, can stack with Fatal Strike.)

Shadow Stealth Lv1 (Active, disappears into the shadows, reappears after being attacked, damage taken is reduced by 20% for three seconds after reappearing. Cooldown: 1 minute.)

Phantom Possession Lv1 (Active, possesses the master, both parties share all attributes and simultaneously increase them by 10%)

Night Affinity Lv1 (Passive, all attributes increase by 50% in a night environment)

Death Harvest (Passive, race exclusive, permanently increases attack strength after killing a target not weaker than oneself.)

Potential: King Rank One-Star

The ultimate assassin attribute. If he were to advance to King Rank, he would truly be the nightmare of all squishy Yao Beasts and all Beast Tamers.

Lin Chuan estimated that a Gold-rank Beast Tamer would probably be instantly killed with one strike if caught off guard.
