45: Bounty List
“Principal, what did you need me for?”
Lin Chuan swaggered into the principal’s office, casually found a chair, and plopped down.
As for Lu Xiaomo, she stood beside him.
“Xiaomo, you can sit too,” Lan Lan said gently, then looked at Lin Chuan: “You challenged another class today?”
“That’s right. To motivate my classmates, I just have to work hard,”
Lin Chuan said righteously.
“Um, Principal, is there a reward?”
This guy, a leopard can’t change its spots.
“There are no rewards for challenges within the school.”
“What about outside the school? Are there any?” Lin Chuan quickly asked.
Even without a reward, Lin Chuan would still go for the challenge; it was always worth a shot.
“Yes.”
“What’s the reward?”
“See for yourself.”
With that, Lan Lan took out two A4 forms filled with text.
“This contains all the information for the top fifty students in the third year from First High School and Second High School.”
Lin Chuan took them and quickly scanned them.
They contained dense lists of names, star Ranks, talent Ranks, and Beast Taming attributes—basic public information.
However, what interested Lin Chuan most was the final remarks column.
Behind each name was a number.
For example, the first name from First High School:
1 Lei Dian S-Rank 9-Star Lightning Attribute Thunder Sub-Dragon 1000
“Principal, what does this 1000 at the end mean?”
“That’s 1000 Spirit Stones, or resources of equivalent value,”
Lan Lan explained.
However, she felt a bit awkward. The reward for the first place was just something she put there to bait Lin Chuan; she never expected him to actually get it.
Of course, if Lin Chuan really did achieve it, let alone a thousand, ten thousand would be honored.
“Got it.”
Lin Chuan continued to look down.
There was nothing special left; Lei Dian was the only S-Rank talent.
Most of the top twenty were A-Rank, and those after the twentieth were B-Rank talents.
As for star Ranks, the top ten were all nine-star, and the rest were eight-star.
“I didn’t expect Yan Hao to be so weak, only ranking outside the top fifty in First High School.”
As for the prize money, first place: 1000; 2nd-5th place: 200; 6th-10th place: 100; after 10th place, there was only a symbolic 10 Spirit Stones.
However, 10 Spirit Stones were only low compared to the hundreds or thousands before; it was still equivalent to a regular student’s allowance for five months.
It seemed Lan Lan had invested heavily to motivate Lin Chuan. However, a portion of this was originally ‘extorted’ by Lin Chuan from the Yan Family, so it was natural for it to be used on him.
The situation at Second High School was similar, except there were no S-Ranks. The first and second places appeared to be a pair of brothers:
1 Nan Jingwu A-Rank 9-Star Ice Attribute Ice Armor Warrior 500
2 Nan Jingwen A-Rank 9-Star Fire Attribute Blazing Violent Bear 300
The rewards for other Ranks were all similar.
This pair of ‘Ice and Fire Brothers’ had a slightly lower value than Lei Dian, but it was still a considerable amount.
Lu Xiaomo watched from the side, dumbfounded. This wasn’t a ranking list; it was clearly a bounty list.
Even the 50th-ranked person on this list, if taken alone, could Rank in the top two at Third High School, a level she could only dream of reaching.
Now, they were at the bottom of the form, and Lin Chuan couldn’t even be bothered to glance at them.
Lu Xiaomo vaguely felt that something big was about to happen in District 81, starting with this list.
If she could witness Boss Lin Chuan crushing everyone… just thinking about it… Lu Xiaomo couldn’t help but breathe rapidly, her whole body feeling hot… “Principal, are S-Rank talents so rare? Is there only one in the entire District 81 this year?”
Lin Chuan memorized the form and then paid it no further attention, asking casually.
He had seen Qin Yan’s test before, and it seemed he was S-Rank.
He hadn’t experienced large-scale talent tests, so he naturally didn’t realize the scarcity of Advanced talents.
Among students of the same year, less than 5% were A-Rank or above; this was the statistical data for the entire Xuanwu City. In reality, the proportion in the outer districts was even lower, possibly only 3%.
This year’s third-year graduates, from all three schools combined, numbered over a thousand, with only about 40 A-Ranks. This was after school screening; some with truly low talents didn’t even enter Beast Taming High School.
“It’s good enough for District 81 to have one this year; some years don’t even have any. Lei Dian originally had the chance to go directly to school in the inner district, but his father is the principal of First High School. To keep this year’s top student at First High School, he was allowed to stay in District 81.”
Lan Lan sighed: “An S-Rank combat talent, just the boost to a Beast Taming, is three times that of an A-Rank, not to mention other traits. The Nan brothers from Second High School combined aren’t enough to beat Lei Dian, so you’ll earn a lot.”
Lin Chuan: “???”
Principal, you’re getting ahead of yourself!
It hasn’t even started, and you’re already so sure I can crush those ‘Ice and Fire Brothers’?
Why don’t you think even higher, maybe I’ll even crush Lei Dian!
“Alright, this is what I needed you for. Since you made the bold statement yourself, you naturally need to fulfill it. Next, even if you don’t challenge them, they will come to challenge you.
Don’t waste time on the other classes at Third High School; challenging them now won’t have a motivating effect. You might as well prepare well.”
Lan Lan said with a smile, as if she was looking forward to what would happen next.
“Alright… Principal, I have a request.”
Lin Chuan’s eyes darted around as he spoke.
“Tell me, as long as I can do it.”
“Can I get an advance on the reward? It’s all mine anyway. Advancing 1000 Spirit Stones isn’t too much, is it?”
“Get lost!”
Lin Chuan retreated in defeat.
“Xiaomo, Lin Chuan is not someone who makes things easy. You don’t need to worry about other things; just be responsible for recording. Can you do that?”
“Principal, I understand.”
Lu Xiaomo said firmly.
Although Boss Lin Chuan’s combat speed was very fast, she wouldn’t miss it again!
…After leaving the principal’s office, Lin Chuan planned to go home.
This guy had completely given up pretending, laid his cards on the table, and was just going with the flow; there was no need to attend school anymore.
Lu Xiaomo followed him closely.
“Boss Lin Chuan, why are you leaving school now? Are you going to challenge other schools so soon?”
“I’m going home.”
“Huh?” Lu Xiaomo was stunned, “Now, there are still two hours until school ends.”
“Together!” Lin Chuan said casually.
Lin Chuan naturally meant to leave school together, and then each go home.
“Ah? This, isn’t it a bit much?” Lu Xiaomo lowered her head, her face flushed, and she looked shy and hesitant.
“Is it a bit too soon? After all, we just met… Should I bring some gifts for your aunt and uncle… Boss Lin Chuan, do you prefer boys or girls?”
After saying that, Lu Xiaomo looked up with eager eyes.
“Eh… Boss Lin Chuan???” Lu Xiaomo looked around.
Lin Chuan was nowhere to be seen.
