33: Chapter 33 Amazing Technology
The medical Stasis Field Generator was ultimately installed in a hidden basement beneath Processing Tower No. 5 on Blue Winter Star, a space that had been expanded and heavily reinforced.
After the cargo from Vira Prime arrived, Liang Qiming and Liang Chengping did not opt for conventional Warp shipping.
For them, crossing through the portal connecting the two worlds was the safest and most direct 'logistics channel.'
Several Storage Pouchs were used to neatly pack the Stasis Field Generator's core components, energy modules, and control systems.
The two passed through the portal back to Green Mist Valley, stayed briefly to ensure safety, and then opened the door again to return to Blue Winter Star.
With one round trip, the cross-universe transport was complete, entirely avoiding the unpredictable horrors of the Warp.
Liang Chengping initially suggested transporting the equipment back to the Immortal Realm to study it in the depths of their own Manor for maximum safety, but Liang Qiming vetoed it.
“Uncle, we can move the equipment, but what about the power? That is the foundation that makes it run. We can't move the entire power system.”
Liang Chengping thought about it and realized it was true.
Thus, this otherworldly stronghold on Blue Winter Star became the optimal location for testing and applying this temporal technology.
Accompanying the equipment were installation and operation manuals provided by the Imperial Adeptus Mechanicus, detailed to the point of being tedious.
With the assistance of numerous Servitors, the two spent several days finally assembling and calibrating the device—a silver-grey apparatus the size of a small room, its surface covered in precise patterns and indicator lights.
It stood quietly in the center of the basement, connected to thick cables drawn from the tower's main power lines, emitting a low, steady hum.
“Now... shall we try it?” Liang Chengping's voice carried a hint of nervousness and irrepressible anticipation.
Liang Qiming nodded and walked to the console. The control interface was a mixture of complex runes and mechanical buttons, but fortunately, there was a translation guide. He followed the manual, operating it with great care.
“Setting target area... ten meters directly in front of the generator. Range... a sphere with a half-meter radius. Power output... lowest stable setting,” he whispered as he worked.
Hummm...
The Stasis Field Generator emitted a higher-frequency hum, distinct from its standby state.
The air ten meters ahead began to produce a subtle distortion, imperceptible to the naked eye but clearly sensed by those with sharp spiritual awareness.
Light seemed to undergo an extremely minute deflection there.
Liang Qiming picked up a prepared metal cup from nearby, filled halfway with clear water.
He gently placed the cup on the ground at the marked spot, positioned exactly in the center of the preset 'sphere.'
“Activate.”
He pressed the prominent red button protected by a safety cover.
There was no earth-shattering sound, no blinding light.
Ten meters ahead, centered on that metal cup, the half-meter radius of space suddenly solidified.
It wasn't frozen in ice or petrified, but a more fundamental 'stagnation.'
The dust in the air no longer floated; it froze in its original position, forming a bizarre suspended micro-sculpture.
The faint light filtering through the ceiling cracks bent in a ring at the edge of the 'sphere,' as if blocked and distorted by an invisible, extremely dense transparent membrane.
The most shocking sight was the metal cup and the half-cup of water within it.
The metallic luster on the cup's surface seemed 'frozen,' no longer reflecting dynamic light and shadow.
In the clear water, the tiny ripples on the surface vanished completely; the water's surface was as flat as the smoothest mirror, and even the Brownian motion of the water molecules seemed to have stopped.
A single drop of water that had been slowly sliding down the side of the cup—not yet fallen—simply hung there in mid-air, maintaining its posture of about-to-fall, eternally solidified in place.
Time, within that small sphere, had been paused.
Liang Chengping's mouth hung open, his eyes wide, even forgetting to breathe.
Although he had heard his nephew's explanation before, the impact of witnessing such a logic-defying phenomenon with his own eyes was worlds apart from a mere verbal description.
“This... this is... a Stasis Field?” His voice was dry, filled with disbelief.
“Yes,” Liang Qiming’s voice also trembled with excitement, but it was more of a feverish thrill. “Time stagnation, spatial isolation. As long as the energy supply continues, this state can be maintained for a very, very long time. Until we turn it off.”
He walked to a sealed metal cabinet next to the console, entered a password to open it, and revealed several sets of neatly folded, strangely textured silver-white full-body protective suits, along with matching gloves, boots, and helmets.
“This is the accompanying protective gear. Putting it on synchronizes the wearer's Biological field with the field generator, granting immunity to the Stasis effect.” Liang Qiming took out a smaller set and began to put it on.
Liang Chengping followed his lead, clumsily but carefully donning another set. The protective suit was very light, but once fully equipped, they could feel a faint energy field enveloping their bodies, creating a resonance with the massive generator in front of them.
Once fully dressed, the two looked at each other.
Liang Qiming took a deep breath and took the first step, walking toward that solidified bubble of space-time.
His footsteps met no resistance as he easily crossed that invisible boundary.
The moment he entered the 'sphere,' the sensation was incredibly strange.
Every sound from the outside world—the hum of the generator, even the sound of their own heartbeats and breathing—vanished instantly into absolute silence.
The light also seemed different, more... 'solid'? The air no longer flowed, and the temperature was constant.
He raised his hand and moved his fingers; everything was normal, the protective suit shielding him perfectly.
He walked to the metal cup, reached out, and gently gripped its side.
Cold and hard. The sensation was real. He tried to move it.
The cup was lifted by him, leaving the ground.
This process itself was him applying external force to change the cup's spatial position.
But the cup's internal state remained in absolute stasis.
The clear water inside remained as flat as a mirror, without the slightest wobble. When he tilted the cup, and even turned it upside down—
The water did not flow out.
That half-cup of water seemed frozen inside the cup's walls, or perhaps held firmly in its original 'shape' and 'position' by an invisible force. Even with the container inverted, it maintained the state it had when the cup's mouth was level, hovering at the bottom of the inverted cup and maintaining its original contact surface with the walls.
It defied gravity, defied fluid dynamics, and followed only one absolute law: 'Spatial Cessation.'
He carefully placed the cup back in its original spot and then exited the stasis sphere.
Removing the protection, the sounds of the outside world and the flowing air instantly returned.
“Uncle, did you see that?” Liang Qiming’s voice was high with excitement. “This isn't an illusion or a parlor trick! It's real temporal technology! With this... with this...”
Countless application scenarios flashed through his mind in an instant.
“The rise of our Liang Family is just around the corner!” Liang Chengping finally snapped out of his shock, punching the nearby metal wall with a dull thud, his face full of wild joy.
