19: Chapter 19 Unleashing Divine Power in the Martial Arts Arena

Chun Xiaobai only then realized that at some point, he had been draped in a snow-white Daoist robe that felt warm to the touch and carried a faint scent of sandalwood.

"Damn it, This Great King was wondering why I slept like a log; turns out someone actually covered me with a blanket?"

However, he immediately realized that he was in big trouble now.

He didn't have a shred of Qi in his body; it might work to fool these young Qi Refining and Foundation Establishment kids, but how could a big shot who had lived for hundreds of years and killed countless people not see through him?

"Where is Elder Gu?"

"He is at the Martial Arts Field, personally guiding the Disciples on their Sword Intent. Everyone has gone over there."

Chun Xiaobai scanned the room and discovered that the vast Hall of Dharma Transmission was now empty, save for himself, Bai Jiner, and Fang Yuan, who was standing to the side like a temple guardian.

"Quick! Let's go!"

Chun Xiaobai cursed inwardly.

It really lived up to that old saying: One nap can ruin your whole life!

At this moment, on the Martial Arts Field, Sword Qi crisscrossed as two Disciples were sparring with their Sword Intent.

Gu Changfeng stood with his hands behind his back in front of the crowd, his gaze burning like a torch.

The Outer Sect Disciples of the Qingyun Sect, regardless of whether they cultivated the sword, were all willing to come and listen to Gu Changfeng preach the Dao.

This was precisely because his method of preaching was different from the other Elders.

Others would at most explain the obscure points of a Cultivation Technique, and whether you could learn it depended entirely on your own Comprehension Ability.

But Gu Changfeng was different; as long as you wanted to learn, he would tell you everything he knew without reservation, and he would even patiently step onto the field himself to personally guide every Disciple on the problems in their swordsmanship.

"Elder Gu!"

Hearing the voice, Gu Changfeng turned his head and saw the fellow who had been sound asleep during his lecture.

"Your robe." Chun Xiaobai hurriedly handed over the Daoist robe, preparing to turn and make a quick escape.

"You've come at just the right time." Elder Gu suddenly spoke. His voice wasn't loud, but it made Chun Xiaobai's feet feel like they were filled with lead.

"Go up and try it out. Let me see how far your Sword Intent has progressed."

"I'm done for!"

Ten thousand alpacas stampeded through Chun Xiaobai's mind.

"Is this damn Elder Gu a Transmigration fellow too?"

"Why is he acting just like those university professors from my past life?"

"Always calling on the students who sleep in class to answer questions!"

Before he could find an excuse to decline, a helpful Disciple beside him kindly handed him a longsword of unknown quality.

Chun Xiaobai had no choice but to bite the bullet and take it.

He didn't know Sword Intent, but he had practiced his ancestral saber techniques for over a decade.

"Senior Brother Chun, go for it!" Bai Jiner was still on the sidelines, waving her pink fists and cheering for him like a little fan girl.

Chun Xiaobai could only bite the bullet, nod at her, and then head to the center of the Martial Arts Field.

Standing in the center of the field was already a young Disciple with an imposing Aura.

Using the sharp, discerning eye he had honed from years in the Jianghu, Chun Xiaobai judged that this person's level should be on par with Fang Yuan'sβ€”that is, Qi Refining Level 7.

Most importantly, this guy had clearly witnessed his "throwing money around" generosity. As soon as he saw him step onto the field, his eyes filled with extreme caution, as if facing a formidable enemy.

"Damn it," Chun Xiaobai felt nervous inside. "This Great King isn't even at Qi Refining, and this guy is so cautious; will I get stabbed to death by him in a moment?"

"Senior Brother Chun, please enlighten me!" The Disciple bowed respectfully with cupped fists.

Chun Xiaobai followed suit and returned the Jianghu salute, cupping his fists, but before he could even set his stance, a low shout rang out.

"Senior Brother Chun, watch the sword!"

"Damn it, no martial ethics!"

A flash of sword light, accompanied by the sound of tearing wind, thrust straight at Chun Xiaobai's face.

His head tilted to the left almost by reflex, and the longsword in his right hand slashed diagonally to the right in a standard wood-chopping motion!

"Clang!" A crisp sound rang out!

The Disciple's longsword suddenly sank as the blade passed by Chun Xiaobai's ear. Immediately after, a tremendous force surged over, numbing the web between his thumb and index finger, and his body was dragged a step to the left.

"Holy crap!" Chun Xiaobai was stunned.

It wasn't because he had blocked that swift and fierce sword strike, but because he was shocked to discover that both his sword speed and the strength in his arm were nearly double what they had been before!

Yes, that's right, double!

"Could this be... the Medicinal Pill?"

He had crunched and chewed nearly two hundred Medicinal Pills yesterday!

The Disciple steadied his stance, his expression becoming even more serious. He clearly hadn't expected that the opponent's seemingly casual strike would possess such overwhelming power.

No wonder he was so generous; his talent was indeed high. To have such great strength without even using any Qi.

Chun Xiaobai suddenly found his confidence.

He could feel that the power of his casual strike now reached at least five thousand catties!

In other words, even if he took three sword strikes from this guy head-on, he would be fine, but if this guy took one strike from him, he would definitely vomit blood!

With his confidence boosted, his Aura naturally rose.

He simply gripped the sword with both hands, held it diagonally behind him, and struck a pose like "Autumn Wind Sweeping Fallen Leaves."

As the saying goes, laymen watch the excitement, while experts watch the technique. Gu Changfeng's brows shot up sharply as he watched.

"This... this guy actually grasped Saber Intent?"

The Disciple on the field was also taken aback when he saw Chun Xiaobai's unconventional way of holding the sword.

But the more this was the case, the less he dared to be careless.

With traditional sword-holding stances, one could still predict the trajectory of the attack, but this unheard-of, bizarre stance made it difficult for him to capture the opponent's offensive momentum.

Chun Xiaobai also became cautious.

Others were playing with immortal arts and Qi; he was playing with pure strength. This wasn't a battle on the same level at all.

If he happened to get stabbed by that sharp sword tip, he might very well end up dead right here on the spot.

He knew he could only fight by counterattacking.

If it was a direct clash, as soon as someone found a flaw in his sword movement and thrust over, it would be a heart-piercing blow.

Seeing Chun Xiaobai set his stance and remain motionless, the Disciple thought this was a Senior expert letting him take the initiative.

He no longer stood on ceremony. With a surge of Qi throughout his body, he unleashed his movement technique, the "Chasing Wind Steps," stirring up a gust of wind as his figure turned into an afterimage, instantly appearing before Chun Xiaobai!

In that split second, Chun Xiaobai discovered that not only had his speed and strength increased, but his reaction ability had also increased by at least twenty percent!

He happened to catch a tiny flaw in the trajectory of the incoming sword tip.

He twisted his waist, and the longsword in his hand moved from bottom to top in a vicious, groin-slashing, chopping motion, thrusting upward violently!

Just as the Disciple's sword tip was about to pierce his chest, the longsword in his hand arrived first despite starting later, its blade already reaching the Disciple's waist and abdomen.

Outside the field, Gu Changfeng's expression changed.

The next second.

He appeared between the two of them, his two fingers like iron pincers, firmly clamping onto Chun Xiaobai's longsword, which had already torn through the opponent's Daoist robe and pierced half an inch into his skin.

Afterwards, he said in a deep voice.

"It is only a sparring match, why did you use such a vicious move?!"

"Is this very vicious?"

Chun Xiaobai asked, scratching his head with an innocent look on his face.

"Huh???"

Gu Changfeng's eyelids twitched, and the surrounding Disciples froze upon hearing this.

If Elder Gu hadn't intervened, this Senior Brother would have been cut in half at the waist by your sword strike!

Isn't that vicious?

Originally, this sword strike might not have counted as vicious, but paired with your current blank and innocent expression, it seemed... too vicious!

Chun Xiaobai hurriedly retracted the longsword in his hand and took a step back.

The Disciple who had just wandered on the edge of death let out a long breath of relief.

He wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and immediately bowed to Chun Xiaobai with cupped fists.

"Senior Brother's swordsmanship is superb; this Junior Brother admits defeat!"

Gu Changfeng stood with his hands behind his back, his hawk-like eyes staring straight at Chun Xiaobai, and said coldly: "What? Do you want to try something even more vicious?"
