124: Can I get a refund for Chapter 124?

Commander Sun clenched his fists, his voice somewhat hoarse:

"The reason I arranged such a brutal trial for everyone is to tell you a few things!"

"First, we and the ferocious beasts are irreconcilable enemies! We must slaughter them all! If you don't kill them, they will eat your flesh, drink your blood, and destroy your homes!"

"Second, the eight cities in the Southern District are now in imminent danger! Ferocious beasts are constantly descending through these strange spatial rifts! We need to find the root of the problem as soon as possible and eliminate these rifts!"

"Third, and this is the reason why I had you do this!"

Commander Sun looked around at everyone, his gaze becoming incredibly intense:

"Because spatial rifts can appear at any moment now, almost all the military's manpower has had to be stationed within the cities. We have formed multiple patrol squads, patrolling different sectors day and night, just to be a second faster when the beasts raid, striving to keep civilian casualties to a minimum!"

"Therefore, the military is currently severely lacking manpower to go Outside the Border to clear out the sources! And you! As the pride of the younger generation, as Professionals who have enjoyed the country's best resources, you must take on this responsibility as soon as possible!"

"There is no time for you to grow slowly!"

"The coming month will be filled with this kind of high-intensity training, and even actual combat missions!"

"I don't know what your teachers told you before you came."

"But in my eyes, you are not here to participate in some bullshit competition or fight for the empty titles of first or second place!"

"You are here to join the army! You are here to fight a war! You are fighting for the people behind you!"

These words were resonant and thought-provoking.

Everyone present was a bit dazed.

They had originally thought they were just here to participate in a slightly difficult competition.

They hadn't expected the burden on their shoulders to suddenly become so heavy, so heavy that it made them feel breathless.

But at the same time.

An inexplicable surge of passion was burning in their chests.

Seeing that everyone was silent, Commander Sun shouted:

"Do you understand?!"

"We understand!!"

Everyone answered in unison subconsciously.

Although the voices were uneven, there was already a hint of a soldier's bearing.

"Good!"

Commander Sun nodded with satisfaction:

"Then the practical combat lesson is over. Next, I will tell you about the arrangements for the next three months you will spend with me."

After speaking, Commander Sun raised his hand.

"Click, click, click—"

The sound of machinery operating rang out.

A huge electronic screen, dozens of meters wide, slowly rose from the back of the open space.

"First, let me educate you on the classification of ferocious beasts!"

Commander Sun pointed to the data chart that popped up on the screen and began to explain:

"Since the game invaded reality, each of us has had our own level panel where we can see our own level. But wild ferocious beasts are different; they do not have digitized health bars or level displays."

"We currently haven't mastered the technology to accurately distinguish the level of every wild ferocious beast. However, after years of bloody battles and research, we have discovered that ferocious beasts of different strengths have different colored auras."

Commander Sun pointed to the picture of the Hellhound on the screen, which had a faint green halo:

"Like those 10 Hellhounds from just now, the aura on them was green. According to research, their combat power and destructive power correspond to the attribute panels of Dungeon Monsters around level 40."

"We generally call them—Second-Order Ferocious Beasts."

"Our military has a simple classification mnemonic: white aura is First-Order, corresponding to around level 20; green aura is Second-Order, corresponding to around level 40."

"What?!"

Hearing this, the students below let out a cry of surprise.

"So those Hellhounds just now had stats around level 40? No wonder they were so monstrous!"

"And there's no health bar display, isn't that too hard to fight?"

Hearing this, Commander Sun frowned, looking displeased:

"Second-Order Ferocious Beasts already make you feel they are monstrous? They already make you feel desperate?"

"Let me tell you! Outside the Border, after leaving the safe zone, Second-Order Ferocious Beasts are nothing more than the most bottom-tier cannon fodder!"

"In the true depths of Outside the Border, those overlords occupying their own territories are basically Third-Order or Fourth-Order! That is, their auras appear yellow and purple, corresponding to the terrifying attributes of Dungeon Monsters at level 60 and level 80!"

"There are even the legendary red-named Fifth-Order Beast Kings! That is, the legendary level 100 ferocious beasts."

Hearing this, everyone fell into a deathly silence once again.

Someone swallowed hard and asked in a low voice:

"So... Commander Sun, our mission? Is it to go and kill these Third or Fourth-Order ferocious beasts? How is that any different from throwing our lives away? We should just go back to school to study..."

"Spineless!"

Commander Sun glared at the person and snorted coldly:

"Rest assured, I brought you here to help solve problems, not to send you to your deaths. I don't expect you to be able to single-handedly take on a Beast King right now."

As he spoke, Commander Sun pointed to the huge screen:

"Do you see the list on it? The screen will irregularly issue clearing missions of various difficulties."

"The missions have detailed information, specifying the level of the ferocious beast, the approximate location, and the [military merit points] obtained upon completing the mission."

"Combine this with your own abilities and act according to your means. Within these three months, if you accept and complete the corresponding missions, you can earn military merit points."

Everyone followed Commander Sun's finger to look, only to see dense lists of mission entries scrolling on the screen:

"Mission 1. Outside the Border (330, 231) area, clear First-Order ferocious beast tide, difficulty: E, reward military merit points: 10 points."

"Mission 2. Luocheng Changping Street, clear Second-Order invading ferocious beasts, difficulty: D, reward military merit points: 30 points."

"Mission 3. Outside the Border (864, 285) area, kill Fourth-Order ferocious beast, difficulty: SS, reward military merit points: 1500 points."

...

Speaking of which, Commander Sun paused:

"By the way, I heard that before you came, you also had corresponding battle team points in your respective schools."

"However, once you arrive here, the rules of the game have changed."

"I have contacted the principals of each school, and your battle team points have been forcibly converted into military merit points at a set ratio by us."

"The ratio is—every 100 school points = 1 military merit point."

"Wow—!!"

Upon hearing this, the crowd instantly erupted.

"No way! 100 to 1? This exchange rate is too unscrupulous!"

"I worked so hard to earn those points at school, thousands of them, and here they are directly devalued to just a few dozen points? Isn't this robbery!"

"Commander Sun, can I get a refund?"

Commander Sun sneered, his powerful aura suppressing the crowd's protests:

"Is there a problem?"

"The difference in difficulty between killing those play-house monsters in a dungeon and killing ferocious beasts in the wild—didn't you just experience it? Don't you have any self-awareness?"

"Think it's too little? Then go kill ferocious beasts and earn it back!"
