248: Chapter 248 Night Talk, Night Raid
"Yingxue, what's wrong? You look so gloomy."
"It's nothing, Yaoyao. I just remembered some unhappy things."
Sun Yingxue had confidently pulled Zou Luyao to take a shower together, wanting to compare their figures, but the result wasn't as pleasant as she had hoped.
Often, hard work really can't compare to raw talent.
Of course, she wouldn't say that out loud, so she used the telecom scam she had recently encountered as a shield.
Zou Luyao widened her eyes upon hearing this. "How can there be such people in this world!"
"Have you never received a scam call?"
"I didn't get a mobile phone until I started college. Basically, only my mother and teachers knew my number."
Hearing that Zou Luyao seemed to have a story, Sun Yingxue immediately became interested.
"Yaoyao, I've already told you about my situation, why don't you tell me yours?"
Sun Yingxue had just shared her own growth experience, though she certainly wouldn't reveal her true self.
She didn't choose to fabricate facts either, but cleverly picked stories she could tell, piecing them together to achieve a seemingly coherent effect.
"Me? My story doesn't seem very interesting."
Zou Luyao thought for a moment. Although her past wasn't worth being happy about, she was willing to open her heart to one of her few good friends.
So, she told her story from the moment she had memories as a child, exactly as it happened.
Sun Yingxue listened in silence.
While everyone has their own misfortunes, Zou Luyao's experience was a bit too oppressive.
Sun Yingxue's mother had a beautiful appearance but no backbone, and Sun Yingxue didn't learn to scheme and act from a young age; it was all forced by life.
She learned and grew through one setback and deception after another.
But even those experiences couldn't compare to what Zou Luyao had endured.
Zou Luyao's upbringing was like living in a prison, and her mother was the warden with supreme power; she had never lived a single day for herself.
Although Sun Yingxue had a hard life as a child, her fate had always been in her own hands, while the mere thought of Zou Luyao's life gave her an urge to destroy everything.
"So, that day I decided to destroy myself. I thought, if I did that, I would be free, right?"
Hearing this, Sun Yingxue couldn't help but feel a pang of heartache.
Just how much despair had accumulated to make such a beautiful girl choose to destroy herself with such extreme means?
"Then you gave up later?"
"No, my head was hot at the time, so I went to a big bar I found online, I think it was called Blue Moon, and as expected, I was targeted by a group of bad people. I drank a spiked drink and passed out."
Although logically Zou Luyao should have been saved, Sun Yingxue couldn't help but feel nervous hearing this.
After all, for a girl, if something like that happened, it would be worse than death.
"Then you... are you okay in the end?"
"Originally, my normal life should have ended there, but that's when he appeared and saved me."
Mentioning this, Zou Luyao's face was full of sweetness, and Sun Yingxue naturally knew who had saved her.
"That was truly thrilling. Don't ever do such a foolish thing again. There won't be so many coincidences in the world to save you."
"I won't. I was too stupid before, but after meeting him, my life completely changed. Such things will never happen again."
Sun Yingxue felt some sympathy hearing this; hadn't her own life been the same?
She had walked through the first half of her life cautiously, living with a mask every day, with her mind constantly thinking about how to make herself valuable so that some unknown wealthy man would take a fancy to her and take her into his home.
She hated that version of herself, and she longed to live as her true self.
But these things seemed achievable now.
Thinking of this, she smiled sweetly.
"Yaoyao, how far have you progressed?"
"Huh? Us? What progress could we have?"
"Holding hands, hugging, kissing... or, have you already...?"
"Don't guess randomly. We just, just kissed a little bit."
With a better understanding of her good friend's progress, Sun Yingxue was at least ahead in these aspects.
As for other areas, she had to take the lead as well.
She now considered Zou Luyao half a friend and had basically seen her true self; she had really been fighting with air before.
Speaking of the campus beauty rivalry, Zou Luyao didn't even know it existed; she later found out that her internet usage had been restricted, and she hadn't even logged onto the campus network except to choose courses.
And her encounter with Zhao Xiaoshuai was entirely due to coincidence; being brought back to this mansion to stay temporarily was also to help her escape her mother's control.
Her hostility towards Zou Luyao had diminished significantly, but the slight loss in appearance and figure still weighed on her mind; she had to get ahead in other areas.
Sun Yingxue was helping her good friend tailor some clothing.
Because she often altered her own clothes, Sun Yingxue's tailoring skills were quite good.
She taught Zou Luyao some techniques while helping her make a cosplay costume.
"Yingxue, have you fallen in love yet?"
"I am falling in love right now."
"Then can you teach me? This is my first time dating, and I don't know how to progress."
"I'm a first-timer too."
"Then let's advise each other. Isn't it said that three cobblers are better than one Zhuge Liang? The two of us cobblers, shouldn't we at least make half?"
"Sure."
Unknowingly, the two good friends chatted until late at night.
When Sun Yingxue fell asleep from exhaustion, she vaguely saw Zou Luyao still energetically working on her cosplay costume.
It seemed she was truly happy.
When she opened her eyes again, it was already some unknown hour in the early morning.
She glanced at her friend beside her, who was fast asleep, and not far away lay a mostly finished cosplay costume.
Sun Yingxue carefully got up, wearing only her underwear, and left the room.
She arrived at Zhao Xiaoshuai's room next door and tentatively turned the handle.
The door opened.
But there was no sign of Zhao Xiaoshuai in the room.
She looked around in confusion; there were indeed no signs of him having gone to sleep.
"He doesn't sleep here at night. Did he go to that room on the first floor with a good view to rest?"
Just then, Zhao Xiaoshuai, who had just come up from the basement, happened to return to his room and discovered his new girlfriend in his room.
"It's so late, why are you in my room?"
Sun Yingxue turned around.
Although she didn't know where he had gone or what he had been doing in the middle of the night, those things didn't matter now.
She sat on the edge of the bed, propping herself up with her hands, her upper body leaning back slightly, revealing a beautiful curve.
She said abruptly: "I have fallen in love with you."
Zhao Xiaoshuai knew what she was talking about, so he casually locked the door and walked toward the bed.
"I know."
