24: The clinic was first established

Shen Xiaochuan turned around.

Anna stood on the spot, clutching a piece of paper in her hand, her knuckles turning white.

"Main God."

She said, "Seventeen severely wounded. The worst one has a broken leg, the bone pierced through the skin, and it has already turned black."

"We are short on Materials right now—only three portions of Spirit Liquid remain, and ordinary herbs can only stop bleeding. Setting the bone requires the Holy Light spell, and it must be cast continuously for six hours."

She handed over the paper.

"Begin treatment immediately," Shen Xiaochuan said.

"You can access the warehouse at any time. If you need anything, just keep a record."

Anna nodded and turned to leave.

"Wait a moment," Shen Xiaochuan called out to her.

"Is the roof of the Medical Hall sealed?"

"Tang Keke says it must be finished today. It will rain tomorrow."

"Then add more manpower. We must not let the wounded get rained on."

Anna acknowledged and walked away quickly.

Shen Xiaochuan walked toward the Blacksmith Shop.

On the way, he saw Lolia squatting at the entrance, wiping a freshly forged blade with a cloth. Her hair was slightly messy, and her face was covered in dust, but her eyes were startlingly bright.

"How is it?" Shen Xiaochuan asked.

He carefully took the blade, slowly unsheathed it, and examined the edge—the blade gleamed with a cold, deep blue light. His eyes flickered: "How many can you make in a day?"

Lolia stood up, her voice trembling slightly but filled with excitement: "Twelve is no problem! Give me two more people, I can train them, and the output will be stable!"

Shen Xiaochuan nodded: "Approved. The apprentices you asked for will enter the shop tomorrow."

Lolia patted the dust off her pant legs, her voice softening, carrying a hint of imperceptible tension: "Main God... is this rune really for me?"

"You are a craftsman. Only when the blades are well-made can the warriors survive."

She lowered her head, said nothing, and her shoulders trembled slightly.

Shen Xiaochuan put the blade away: "Go get some rest. There is still work to do tomorrow."

He turned and walked toward the Medical Hall.

There were piles of wood by the construction site, and seven or eight people were nailing down the roof.

Tang Keke stood by the ladder, holding a wooden staff in her hand, chanting in a low voice. The wind suddenly picked up, whipping up several unfixed wooden boards.

"Stop!"

She shouted loudly, "The clouds in the east are pressing down too low; the rain is coming early!"

The workers were stunned: "What should we do then?"

"Seal the roof first! The walls can be built later!"

Shen Xiaochuan walked over: "Listen to her. Assign five more people here."

The workers immediately dispersed to call for more people.

Tang Keke saw Shen Xiaochuan and walked up to greet him quickly: "Main God, I have calculated it three times. The rain will fall by the second half of tonight at the earliest, and will be heaviest at early morning."

"Are you sure?"

"I have observed the celestial phenomena in the church for three years; the cloud thickness and wind direction changes all match. This rain carries Yin Qi, and the wounded must absolutely not come into contact with it."

Shen Xiaochuan looked up at the sky; the clouds were heavy and gloomy, and the wind was strengthening: "Then we must race against time. Assign everyone who can work to the Medical Hall to finish it first."

Tang Keke nodded and turned back to climb the ladder.

Shen Xiaochuan walked into the Medical Hall.

Inside, there were ten beds, all newly made wooden frames, covered with dry grass and coarse linen. Anna was directing three priests to move medicine chests.

"Where is the one with the broken leg?" Shen Xiaochuan asked.

"The third bed on the left."

Anna took off her outer robe and rolled up her sleeves, "I am going to begin the spell."

"How long will it take?"

"Six hours, and it cannot be interrupted in the middle. If it stops, all previous efforts will be wasted."

"The people outside are yours to command. If you need more people, just say so."

Anna nodded, walked to the bedside, and sat down, placing her hands over the wounded man's broken leg. A white light slowly lit up in her palms.

The light spread like a stream, creeping up along the wound. The broken bone began to tremble slightly.

No one made a sound. A priest quietly retreated to the doorway and asked in a low voice: "Can it really be reattached?"

The other shook his head: "Before, we could only stop bleeding; who has ever seen a broken bone regenerate?"

Shen Xiaochuan stood at the doorway, silent.

One hour passed. Sweat beaded on Anna's forehead, but the white light remained steady. A faint "clicking" sound came from the broken bone, as if the bone was quietly growing.

Two priests took turns offering water, but she didn't drink.

Three hours later, the white light suddenly dimmed. Anna took a deep breath, gritted her teeth, and continued to channel her spell power.

Footsteps suddenly sounded outside the door. Chen Yan rushed in: "Main God! People have arrived from the north, saying they were sent by Zhang Heng!"

"What is it?"

"They are delivering blueprints! They say it is the perfect town construction plan, it is urgent!"

Shen Xiaochuan walked out the door. A messenger was kneeling on the ground, holding a bamboo scroll high with both hands.

"Zhang Heng ordered me to deliver this to you personally; I cannot delay for even a moment."

Shen Xiaochuan took it and unfolded the blueprint.

It depicted road directions, functional zones, and building layouts. The Medical Hall was marked on the south side of the central area, with a note on the side: "Level 1 Livelihood Facility".

Residential areas, workshops, granaries, and defensive towers were clearly positioned; even the slope and direction of the drainage ditches were noted one by one.

"Where did this map... come from?"

"Zhang Heng drew it all night last night. He said you currently lack planning, and the temporary sheds won't last many days."

Shen Xiaochuan put away the blueprint: "Go back and tell him, I have noted it."

The messenger left. Shen Xiaochuan returned to the Medical Hall.

Anna was still casting the spell. Although the white light was dimmer than before, it had not been interrupted. The wounded man's complexion gradually turned from gray to normal.

Five hours passed. The last priest was so tired he sat down on the floor. Anna's hands trembled slightly, her breathing was heavy, but she never stopped.

"Hold on a little longer."

Her voice was hoarse, "It's almost done."

Exactly six hours. The white light flashed suddenly and then dissipated.

Anna's body went limp, and she was caught in time by someone.

The wounded man on the bed moved his leg and suddenly opened his eyes: "I... I can move?"

Everyone crowded around. Someone lifted the blanket—the leg was as good as new, the skin smooth, with only a faint mark remaining.

"The broken bone is reattached!"

Someone exclaimed.

"Physician Anna saved him!"

The crowd cheered. Several lightly wounded patients on crutches came out, wanting to squeeze in to take a look. A long line had already formed outside the door.

Shen Xiaochuan walked to Anna's side: "Can you still hold on?"

She leaned against the wall, breathing rapidly: "For the lightly wounded behind, the three priests can take turns treating them. The severely wounded... will have to wait for me to recover a bit."

"You rest first. The others will come in order."

Anna nodded and was helped to the corner to lie down.

Shen Xiaochuan walked out of the Medical Hall.

The line at the door grew longer and longer: some with missing fingers, some with burns, and a woman holding a child.

Karl arrived with the security team to maintain order.

"Follow the list!"

He shouted loudly, "Don't push! No one will be missed!"

Shen Xiaochuan stood on the steps, watching the crowd in silence.

I don't know when, but Lolia had also arrived, standing by his side: "So many people at the Medical Hall?"

"There will be more in the future."

Shen Xiaochuan said, "When there are more injured people, there must be a place to treat them."

"Then I will have to forge more blades. If one less warrior dies, that is also a good thing."

Shen Xiaochuan nodded: "Meeting tomorrow, all craftsmen must be present. We will build the city according to the new blueprints."

"Blueprints?"

"Sent by Zhang Heng. Ten times better than what we have now."

Lolia's eyes lit up: "Then... will I also be assigned a workshop?"

"More than that. All the apprentices you asked for will be assigned to you."

She smiled and lowered her head, rubbing her hands.

Shen Xiaochuan looked toward the Main Hall: "Let's go, let's go inside and discuss the details."

As the two of them stepped forward, Tang Keke came running down from the construction site, her expression changing abruptly.

"Main God!"

"What's wrong?"

"The clouds are not right! It's not the kind of rain I calculated!"

She pointed to the sky—a mass of black clouds was rushing in from the east, with purple edges, moving extremely fast.

"These clouds... they carry evil!"

Shen Xiaochuan narrowed his eyes: "What do you mean?"

"They were not formed naturally! Someone is pushing them!"
