Chapter 7: loosing control
Tyson had been walking for hours, the weight of his thoughts bearing down on him.He wasn't sure where he was headed or why he had left the Rangers' headquarters. He had simply walked out.All this time he always wondered who were his parents and why they abandoned him. He hated them and believed maybe in the future when he met them he would ask them why. But now he won't be able to.
He took a heavy step, the cold night air bit at his skin. He was trying to outrun the ghosts that haunted him. The streets were quieter than usual, People passed by, oblivious to the storm raging inside him.
He sighed, looking at his feet just when he heard a Vehicle crashing in the distance, it felt too sudden and loud as if it was deliberate. His eyes snapped to the horizon, following people's gaze down the street.
Tyson rushed toward the source of the noise, and when he reached the edge of the main road, he saw a transport truck toppled.
its cargo scattered across the street. The truck's engine still sputtered as a thick smoke curled into the air. Tyson's gaze locked onto the wreckage—and that's when he saw Blue, crouching over the scattered materials, quickly scooping up what he could. The rogue was after the valuable nano-particles.
The sight of Blue—someone who seemed to care nothing for the cost of his actions—set him off. But it wasn't just blue. It was everything, everything that had been taken from him.
If he was struggling against someone like him then how was he supposed to find answers? How he will be able to stand firm against the odds in the future? He needs to overcome this target regardless of the consequences.
"Hands off, you filth" shouted Tyson.
"Oho...look who's here, Tyson how are you, my friend?" Blue smiled.
The tension in the air crackled as Tyson and Blue squared off, both had their armors activated.
Tyson's meta-bot shimmered to life, its sleek, white, and black design fusing with his body. The suit responded to his thoughts, its metallic surface transforming in response to his movements. The sword in Tyson's hand forming.
Blue's armor took in little late, The blue-black nano- tech shimmered around his body, amplifying his natural strength and durability.
The Nano-bots formed a blaster in Blue's hand, the weapon glowing with a deadly, electric hum as he aimed it at Tyson.
The blaster was capable of firing concentrated blasts of plasma that could pierce through almost any material.
Without hesitation, Tyson lunged forward; He swung his sword in a horizontal arc, aiming for Blue's midsection. Blue dodged stepoing back, narrowly avoiding the strike.
Blue retaliated by unleashing a burst of energy from his blaster, the plasma blast sped toward Tyson.
Tyson reacted instinctively, his Nano-bots forming a shield on his defending hand. The blast hit the shield with a resounding thud Tyson grunted, momentarily thrown off balance by the blast, but he recovered quickly.
Tyson closed the distance in an instant as he spun, bringing his sword down in a brutal overhead strike.
Blue barely managed to raise his arm to deflect it, but the impact of the sword against his armor sent him stumbling back with clinging.
Tyson followed up with a series of rapid, fluid strikes, each one more forceful than the last, without letting his opponent catch a breath.
Blue, despite his strength and firepower, struggled to keep up with Tyson's speed.
Blue fired a blast sharp and quick—but Tyson twisted to the side, narrowly avoiding the blast which in return struck the truck behind him instead.
The vehicle skidded violently, Metal screeching, as the force of the blast sent it careening off the road, a shower of sparks flying from the mangled metal.
As they fought, Blue's free hand grabbed a nearby metal pole, swinging it up to block Tyson's next strike. Sparks flew as the sword met the pole, cutting it sharply in a single strike then He used the momentum to spin around, bringing the blade down in a powerful arc.
The blade caught Blue's armor at a weak point, where less Nano- partials protected the area of his body. And sparks flew as it sliced through the few Nanoparticles.
Blue grunted in pain, his eyes wide in shock.
"What the f—" Blue blurted, stumbling back, clutching his abdomen. Blood began to drip from the deep gash, but before he could react, the nanotech of his suit surged toward the wound.
Tiny particles crawled over his skin, sealing the injury almost instantly and halting the bleeding.
Blue staggered back, realizing that he couldn't keep up with Tyson's unrelenting assault. Blue raised his blaster one more time, aiming it directly at Tyson's chest, but his hands were shaking now.
He hesitated, unsure if he could handle another full-force attack from Tyson.
Blue said, trying to catch his breath. "How about we call it a day?"
First time he has felt the need to recharge his meta-bot, unlike Tyson who must have 100 percent of stored Nano partials in his meta-bot.
Tyson's eyes burned with fury. "I'll call it a day when I have your head," he snarled, launching himself at Blue once more.
As Blue continued to dodge and in retaliation, he locked his hand which held a sword. "Got you"
Tyson kicked him freeing him from enemies grip with a huff, his eyes now locked onto nearby vehicles—some abandoned on the side of the road, others half-crushed from the earlier chaos.
His mind didn't process the risk or the destruction. In a single, violent motion, he extended his arms grabbing the sheer metal frame of the car, and then—without hesitation hurled it toward Blue.
Blue barely had time to react, his blaster firing in retaliation, but the car was already airborne. It slammed into the ground near Blue, forcing him to dive to the side to avoid the impact. The ground trembled beneath their feet as debris flew in every direction.
Tyson didn't give Blue a moment to recover. He charged forward, his sword swinging with desperate fury. But Blue, anticipating the attack and the next moment with a swift motion, fired his blaster, the blast striking Tyson mid-charge and sending him flying backward.
Tyson crashed into the side of an apartment building with a sickening thud.
Blue panting heavily, he could feel tiredness taking over him. He wasn't sure anymore. Who was he fighting tonight? The same Tyson he'd faced before—or was this some twisted version, some demon that cared nothing for the world around him, fixated only on destroying his opponent?
Tyson slowly rose from the ground; his movements were sluggish at first, but Blue felt the fire in his eyes.
Tyson wasn't just fighting Blue; he was fighting his imaginary enemy which killed his parents and even Nancy's parents.
He felt he needed to kill him to get rid of those monsters inside him.
Blues breath quickened. "Something's wrong with you man, I'll go first okay?" he muttered under his breath.
With that, he fired a blinding shot at the ground near Tyson, the blast causing a cloud of smoke and debris to obscure his vision.
In the chaos, Blue made his escape, retreating into the shadows.
Tyson pushed through the thickening smoke, still searching for his target. His mind raced trying to find his enemy but there was no trace of Blue. Instead, he found only the terrified citizens who had been caught in the crossfire.
His frustration boiled over. "Come back here!" he shouted into the smoke, but his voice was met with eerie silence. No response.
Tyson stood amidst the wreckage, his breaths heavy and erratic, and his chest heaving with each inhale. His eyes darted around, unfocused, as if searching for something to latch onto—a reason, a purpose.
He couldn't feel anything except the rage, the hollow anger that ate him from the inside. The weight of his parents' deaths, the years of loss ..
He wasn't sure if he was still fighting Blue or if the battle had long since turned inward. He was no longer thinking about the rogue or the fight. He was only thinking about the destruction, the feeling of losing control.
The words hung in the air, lost among the smoke and debris. Silence pressed in around him, suffocating, thick with the weight of his regret.
His head buzzed with a kind of clarity—he was spiraling, losing himself. The angry, vengeful part of him...the part that wanted to destroy everything in his path—was overtaking him.
He wasn't just a Ranger anymore. He was just a weapon. And that weapon was pointed at everything.
It was then that he heard her—her soft voice cutting through the storm of his thoughts.
"Tyson," she said, her tone faltering,
Nancy.
Tyson blinked, slowly coming back to himself. His vision cleared just enough for him to see the tremble in her hand, the worry in her eyes.
"Please," she whispered, her voice breaking the tension in the air, "stop."
Tyson's breath hitched. The world around him seemed to still as he took in her words. For a heartbeat, he couldn't speak, couldn't move.
His body felt heavy as if the weight of his actions had finally caught up to him.
Finally, Tyson exhaled sharply, his armor slowly retracting as the rage in his chest dimmed, the overwhelming fury giving way to exhaustion.
Nancy stepped closer, her arms wrapping around him in a gesture of comfort, and Tyson, unable to hold himself together any longer, collapsed into her embrace.
His body shook, the dam he had built around his emotions cracking open. The anger, the fear, the grief—it all poured out of him in waves.
When Tyson finally collapsed into her embrace, Nancy felt the tension in her chest release. He's still here. He's still Tyson.
She held him tightly, her voice soft as she whispered, "I'll be here for you, no matter how hard it gets."
In the distance, the sound of sirens grew louder. Local officers had arrived, and their voices broke through the tense moment.
They were here to control the scene, to secure the area, but they stayed their distance, watching cautiously as Nancy held Tyson in the center of the chaos. They knew they must not interfere.
"I'm not trying to pry, but I can see there's something bigger going on here. You can talk to me, you know. I just want to understand." She whispered, He remained silent.
As the officers quickly cordoned off the area, Nancy remained by Tyson's side, her presence a quiet and steadfast anchor amid his chaotic thoughts.
She watched as Edward, Tyson's adoptive father, took control of the scene, giving orders to the officers and ensuring the situation was handled.
Edward's eyes never wavered from Tyson's face, sensing the boy's internal turmoil.
"I know you're hurting," he said his voice filled with understanding. "But rage is our biggest obstacle. We all need to stop running from the pain and learn to fight from a place of strength"
Tyson still disoriented from the battle, "I'm sorry..."
"It happens," Edward replied with a reassuring smile, "We'll talk about it later.... Can you take him home?"
Nancy nodded without hesitation. She crouched down next to Tyson, offering him a hand "Let's go, Tyson."
As Tyson and Nancy began walking away, the soft murmur of the crowd could be heard.
The harsh whispers, the judging stares—he could feel them all. But it wasn't the crowd he was worried about. It was the feeling of losing control, of becoming someone he didn't recognize, that made him miserable.
Nancy felt the tension radiating from him. "You didn't lose yourself, Tyson. You just... lost focus for a moment."
Tyson didn't answer. He couldn't find the words. She tightened her grip on his arm, gently pulling him closer as they walked through the chaos.
"You're not alone in this. You've got me."
His eyes flickered to hers, but he didn't speak. He wasn't sure if he could.
Meanwhile, Edward stood by the wreckage, his gaze lingering on Tyson's retreating figure. A knowing look passed over his face, tempered with both concern and quiet pride.
He knew Tyson's heart was torn between the warrior he needed to become and the boy still haunted by his past. Edward's brief words had been a reminder—a push in the right direction, even if it wasn't clear yet He was sure one day his son would realize it too.
