461: Two people in the night
In front of the vermilion gate stood two figures completely shrouded in a special robe. The robe was covered in exquisite runes. The runes were dim and lacked luster, but they contained an indescribable power.
Under the concealment of the robe, the aura of the two figures was completely hidden. If one didn't look carefully, they wouldn't even know the two were there, as if they had merged with the night.
The appearance of the two did not attract Zhou Luo's attention, and even the formation he had set up around the Zhou Residence to prevent enemies showed no reaction.
Under the night sky, it was silent and still, with only the faint sound of servants in the residence whispering.
One of the figures took a step forward and slowly raised their right hand. It was a delicate, fair jade hand. The exquisite, crystal-clear skin revealed that under the black robe was a woman.
The other party calmly and slowly clenched their right hand and gently knocked on the vermilion wooden door.
Thump-thump—
The crisp knocking sound was particularly abrupt at this moment, reaching all the way to the outer courtyard and echoing for a while.
After about twenty breaths of Time, a servant from the outer courtyard, not even fully dressed, hurried to the main gate and slowly opened a crack.
The servant poked his head out, curiously looking at the visitors outside the door: "May I ask what business you have?"
The servant's voice was very soft. Although his face showed confusion, he appeared extremely respectful.
Although he was just an ordinary Qi Training cultivator, he knew that anyone who could appear in the Core Area of this Immortal City was at least a Foundation Establishment cultivator, or perhaps the Master's close friend.
So even though the other party was visiting late at night and he couldn't even see their face, he still maintained the proper respect.
"I want to see your Master."
A voice devoid of emotion came from under the black robe.
"Do you have an invitation letter?"
Although he feared the other party's identity and strength, the servant still upheld his duty and asked seriously.
Because Zhou Luo had instructed that anyone entering the residence, unless they were acquaintances, must have an invitation letter. If the other party did not have one and insisted on entering, he was to immediately press the alarm bell nearby.
"No, call him out."
The other party was very direct, immediately asking Zhou Luo to come out, clearly not wanting to reveal more.
The servant became vigilant. Seeing that the other party did not force their way in, and thinking that those who could come here were not simple, after much hesitation, he could only nod gently: "Alright, please wait. I will go and inform the Master."
With that, he closed the main gate again, and for caution, he also attached a First-Order Pill Talisman used for warning to the back of the door.
This way, even if the other party forced their way in, it would create a sound to alert everyone.
The servant then quickly walked through the corridor, all the way to the inner courtyard to report.
The moment he appeared in the inner courtyard, Zhou Luo had already sensed it.
A moment later, he was dressed and came before the main building, where the servant stood respectfully waiting.
"What's going on in the middle of the night?" He walked over, his heart filled with doubt.
"Reporting, Master, someone is knocking and says they wish to visit you." The servant bowed, speaking with utmost respect.
"Someone visiting me?"
Zhou Luo frowned. He released his spiritual sense. His Foundation Establishment Late Stage spiritual sense instantly enveloped the entire Zhou Residence, reaching outside the main gate unimpeded.
But within the range of his spiritual sense, there was no sign of anyone's aura.
"Are you sure there's someone outside the door?" he asked in a deep voice.
The servant felt confused. He truthfully said: "Master, there are indeed two people outside the door, and they are both wearing black robes, their faces are unclear."
Now it was Zhou Luo's turn to be confused.
If there really were people outside the door, it would have been impossible for him not to know when his spiritual sense just swept over the area.
Unless the other party had means to conceal their aura.
With this thought, Zhou Luo became vigilant. His right thumb couldn't help but turn the storage ring on his index finger.
"I'll go take a look. You go down and rest."
Before his voice fell, Zhou Luo turned into a gust of wind and disappeared from the spot.
The next second, he arrived behind the vermilion main gate, but he did not open it.
The two parties remained separated by the door panel, neither moving, as if Time had stood still.
Zhou Luo looked around. The Second Order formation he had set up also showed no abnormality, which indicated that the other party's methods were extremely clever and capable of blocking the power of his formation.
"Who could it be?" He felt doubtful.
Choosing to visit late at night, and doing so cautiously, while also being able to block all his probing.
This indicated that the visitor was either extraordinarily strong, or had a deep background and possessed powerful treasures.
In this situation, he had to consider whether the other party was a friend or an enemy.
If they were friends, it would be fine. If they were enemies, should he still open this door?
Zhou Luo pondered for a moment, his spiritual sense even resting on the Third-Order puppet he had just obtained in his storage bag.
If they were truly enemies, he should be able to handle them.
Thinking of this, he took a deep breath, focusing intently on the main gate. With a thought, the main gate was gently opened.
What came into view were two figures wearing black robes whose faces could not be seen.
"Who are you?" Zhou Luo looked at the other party with utmost vigilance and asked cautiously.
The other party was so heavily concealed that it was impossible to guess their intentions.
"Zhou Luo, let's talk inside."
The figure in the lead black robe said in a deep voice, and then proceeded to step forward and enter the door.
Zhou Luo stood blocking the entrance, his brow furrowed.
However, the next second, the other party removed the hood from the black robe, revealing a face of peerless beauty.
The exquisite, fair face was flawless, glowing faintly under the moonlight. Although somewhat pale, one could still see the other party's beauty. Those beautiful eyes were incredibly bright, yet also held a hint of fatigue.
Zhou Luo's heart skipped a beat upon seeing the other party's appearance, as if struck by lightning, and he froze on the spot.
Without waiting for him to speak, the other party forcefully walked through the main gate and headed inside, with the person behind following closely.
One in front and one behind, the two thus passed Zhou Luo and strode into the Zhou Residence.
Zhou Luo suddenly came back to his senses and immediately walked outside, releasing his spiritual sense with a solemn expression to search the scene outside, fearing being seen by others.
"Don't worry, no one noticed."
The voice from behind slowly came out. The other party had already put their hood back on and was walking inside.
Zhou Luo was full of helplessness. After confirming that no one was there, he sighed softly and finally closed the main gate.
Before long, the three arrived at the main building's hall. Seeing the two in front about to sit down, Zhou Luo said seriously: "To the study."
After speaking, he led the two towards the side corridor. When they reached a room, he opened the door and lit the candles.
In the study, the two were the first to sit on the large vermilion chairs.
Zhou Luo brewed a cup of spiritual tea for the two and sat in the main seat with a complicated expression.
In the silent room, Zhou Luo was the first to break the stillness. His voice carried a hint of surprise and confusion.
"Manager Long, why are you here?"
