Chapter 49 Unrivaled Domestically, Time to Make a Move Overseas

In front of the camera, Bingbing's eyes shone with curiosity.

She held up the microphone with the CCTV red logo, leaned forward slightly, and held her breath, waiting for an answer.

Lu Jingming crossed his fingers and rested his elbows on his knees.

He looked into the dark lens of the camera, a lazy smile tugging at the corners of his mouth.

"Go out."

Three simple words, spoken with conviction.

There were no grandiose modifiers or impassioned slogans, but these three words rippled through the airwaves and struck the ears of hundreds of millions of viewers across the country.

After the interview aired, Xinghai Technology completely became the grim reaper of the domestic mobile phone industry.

In just half a month, sales of the xinghai gen 2 broke through the five-million-unit mark; the stacked packaging boxes could wrap around Donghai City several times.

The domestic competitors were all completely demoralized.

Fatty Xu's Bolang Mobile cut two production lines directly, and all the major factories could only struggle to survive in the cracks, relying on price cuts to clear inventory and stay alive.

Xinghai had become an immovable mountain looming over their heads.

Mid-August, the top-floor conference room of the Xinghai building.

The air conditioning was blowing hard, and the room was filled with the mixed scent of coffee and tobacco.

Shen Qingqiu walked to the projection screen in her high heels, holding a laser pointer, and pointed at the sales curve chart on the screen.

That red line, which had originally been rising steeply, had begun to show a clear flattening trend in the last few days.

"The wave of phone replacements in first and second-tier cities at home has basically hit the ceiling."

Shen Qingqiu adjusted her gold-rimmed glasses, her voice calm and crisp.

"The sinking markets in third and fourth-tier cities have limited purchasing power. For them, the 1999 price tag of the xinghai gen 2 is still a major expense, so it's very difficult for sales to climb."

She turned her head to look at Lu Jingming, who was sitting at the head of the table.

"Mr. Lu, our cash flow is now so large it could burst a bank vault. But in the domestic market, it's hard to have that kind of explosive growth again."

Chu Xuan was sitting nearby, twirling a gel pen in his hand.

Hearing this, he slapped his thigh suddenly, his eyes gleaming.

"General Manager Shen is right! Since we can't keep grinding at home, let's go overseas!"

He dragged his metal chair forward, spitting as he spoke.

"Mr. Lu, just think, with our Xinghai OS and double-sided glass, if we take them to Southeast Asia and Africa, wouldn't that be like gods descending to earth?"

The more Chu Xuan talked, the more excited he became, gesturing wildly.

"The foreigners in those places are still using black-and-white screens! If we refurbish the plastic shells of our first-generation phones, give them a new name, and sell them there, we can definitely reap a huge harvest of leeks—this is what you call a dimensionality reduction attack!"

Niu Dazhuang nodded repeatedly as he listened, chiming in with a gruff voice.

"Brother Chu's idea is solid! Our production capacity is so sufficient that if we ship a few boatloads of goods to Africa, we might even be able to trade them for a few gold mines!"

Lu Jingming didn't say a word, toying with a one-yuan plastic lighter in his hand.

The "click, click" sound of metal colliding echoed in the conference room.

He suddenly stopped his movements and threw the lighter onto the table, making a sharp sound.

"Pathetic."

Lu Jingming glanced sideways at Chu Xuan, his tone filled with the disdain of someone disappointed that their subordinate wasn't living up to expectations.

"You run all the way abroad just to sell junk in third-world countries?"

He leaned back against his chair and scoffed.

"You might be okay with losing face, but I think it's beneath me."

Chu Xuan scratched his parted hair, a bit dazed from being retorted.

"If we don't go to Southeast Asia, where are we supposed to sell all this technology we have in stock?"

Lu Jingming stood up and pushed the office chair behind him away.

He strode over to the entire world map on the side of the conference room.

Without a hint of hesitation.

Lu Jingming raised his right hand and slammed it heavily onto the top-left corner of the map with a "slap."

His knuckles pressed firmly onto the location of the North American continent.

"We are going here."

Lu Jingming's voice was not loud, but it carried a ferocity that made people's scalps tingle.

"Silicon Valley, the tech stronghold on the other side of the ocean."

Then, he swiped his palm sharply to the right and pressed hard on the top of the European map.

"And here. Finland, the headquarters of Nokia."

The whole room was quiet for a moment; even the buzzing of the exhaust fan seemed exceptionally abrupt.

Shen Qingqiu was stunned, her hand holding the laser pointer trembling slightly, the red dot swaying on the screen.

Lu Jingming turned around, placed his hands on the table, and looked down at the executives.

"Making money from our compatriots at home and crushing a few blind competitors along the way is just a warm-up."

A haughty smile curled at the corners of his mouth, and the flames of ambition burned in his eyes.

"Since we're going overseas, we have to play big. Making money from the poor is boring and won't satisfy Xinghai's appetite."

Lu Jingming spoke word by word, with a ruthlessness that threatened to tear apart the old order.

"We are going to North America and Europe to uproot those high-and-mighty foreigners!"

He wanted to export in reverse.

Swinging the sickle at those international giants that had been clinging to the Chinese market and sucking its blood!

Old Li sat in the farthest corner, a layer of fine sweat beads appearing on his forehead.

He took off his thick-rimmed glasses, wiped them with the hem of his white lab coat, and his voice trembled.

"Young Master, isn't this step too risky?"

Old Li swallowed his dry saliva, looking at the map with a face full of worry.

"Europe and America are their turf. Whether it's Apple or Nokia, they hold tens of thousands of underlying communication patents."

His hands were trembling with anxiety. "If we take our phones to sell right on their doorstep, they will definitely use patent troll tactics and sue us until we're bankrupt, and we won't even be able to get through customs!"

This hit the nail on the head.

What multinational giants are best at is using complex patent barriers to drag emerging companies to death.

Shen Qingqiu also frowned and opened the legal assessment documents in her hands.

"Chief Engineer Li is right. Communication patents in North America are basically monopolized by those few oligarchs. If we force our way in, the risk of legal litigation is high."

After listening, Lu Jingming not only didn't worry, but laughed softly instead.

He walked back to his office chair, sat down, crossed his legs, and assumed a relaxed posture.

"Old Li, you've been in this circle for half your life, but your thinking still hasn't opened up."

Lu Jingming curled his fingers and tapped the tabletop, his eyes as sharp as knives.

"Who told you that we are going overseas to sell mobile phones?"

The few people in the room looked at each other, completely dumbfounded.

Chu Xuan opened his mouth, staring at him, stuttering.

"Not selling mobile phones? Then what are we going to sell in Europe and America? Glass shells?"

Lu Jingming didn't pick up his cue, but grabbed the dedicated desk phone receiver and tossed it to Chu Xuan.

"Stop talking nonsense. Go to the underground laboratory immediately and notify Xia Weiliang."

A calculating arc curled at the corners of Lu Jingming's mouth, his gaze cast toward the glaring sunlight outside the window.

"Tell her to put aside the system code optimization she's working on. Bring all the core engineers and prepare to launch a new species for me immediately!"
