40: Escape and Return: The Most Shameless Master

At this moment, Jiang Yan was extremely excited, but he didn't forget where he was.

Glancing at his surroundings, the scene of devastation made him instantly frown, for he had lost his way!

Grumbling in his heart, he could only pick a random direction and run wildly.

After all, there weren't many feathers left; if he couldn't find a way out, he would simply wait to be turned into white bones.

After running for about half a ke, Jiang Yan arrived in front of a patch of pink mushrooms.

Seeing these mushrooms continuously spraying red mist, Jiang Yan immediately understood.

'This red mist is actually spores!'

But the next moment, he was dumbfounded, because he had already run in the wrong direction.

'Almighty Great-Grandma, I hope I can find a way out along these mushrooms.'

He didn't delay any longer, his pace quickening frantically, even changing feathers twice along the way.

But even so, he still couldn't see where the boundary of the dense forest was.

'Damn it, it's all because of that Spirit Treasure longsword. Why did it have to go and explode for no reason?'

He was extremely anxious right now, because the feathers in his Storage Pouch were only enough for one more change.

Just as he was sprinting along the mushroom patches, he felt a faint moisture to his left.

"Is it water? No, it's the downstream of that waterfall!"

Jiang Yan cried out in surprise and started running toward the direction of the moisture.

As the feathers gradually lost their effect, he took out the last seven.

After about half a ke, he finally saw the river and finally escaped that damned "red mist."

He took a leap and immediately dove into the river water; feeling the genuine coolness, he felt instantly comfortable.

But the next moment, he was dumbfounded.

Feeling the wrinkled and rough thing in front of him, his heart skipped a beat.

Following that, an eye the size of a soccer ball slowly opened right in front of him.

"Hoo-roo, hoo-roo."

Jiang Yan gave a strained smile, touched the big fellow in front of him once more, then turned and jumped out of the water, using the water's buoyancy to immediately execute his Qi to flee.

"Rumble..."

A Six-Legged Polong Beast, which looked like a crocodile but was dozens of times larger, let out an angry roar.

Feeling the other party's hostility, Jiang Yan greased his feet and disappeared from the Six-Legged Polong Beast's sight in a flash.

Jiang Yan sat on a patch of grass, panting; fortunately, that Six-Legged Polong Beast didn't like coming ashore, otherwise, it would have surely hunted him down.

'Damn it, there isn't a single safe place in this area.'

Jiang Yan complained in his heart while his eyes kept scanning the surroundings.

His hearing was very poor now; because his eardrums had been ruptured, he could only rely on his eyes to avoid danger.

Seeing that there was indeed no danger nearby, it gave him a significant chance to catch his breath.

After resting well, Jiang Yan glanced toward the waterfall.

To be honest, he really wanted to stand up there and take a look, since he would be leaving tomorrow anyway.

'Let's do it. At worst, I'll just run away again.'

Deciding in his heart, Jiang Yan immediately ran along the direction of the river.

In the early morning, sunlight illuminated the earth, as if all things were reviving.

He couldn't hear the birds chirping, nor could he hear the "hissing and rustling" in the nearby grass.

But he could feel the fluctuations of moisture nearby; he didn't know if it was because his hearing was bad that his other senses had improved or what, but regardless, his awareness of his surroundings had increased a lot.

For example, when a fish in the water jumped, the surrounding humidity would increase slightly, and even the nearby grass would sway with it.

Looking at the incredibly tall waterfall cascading down, Jiang Yan immediately began to climb along the curved cliff wall.

At this moment, he was like a mountain climbing enthusiast, glancing down every now and then.

'If only I had a camera.'

Looking at the beautiful scenery below, Jiang Yan felt deeply moved.

After about two ke, he finally climbed to the top of the waterfall.

But seeing the scene in front of the waterfall, he was completely stunned.

This was no beautiful scenery; it was clearly a scene of broken walls and ruins!

A giant tower lay toppled across the upper reaches of the waterfall; from the scene of the ruins in the distance, he could tell that this place must have once been filled with buildings.

'Where on earth is this?'

He had no way of knowing the answer, but from the toppled ruins in the distance, he could guess that this must be the former site of an Immortal Sect.

'Forget it, I won't go look.'

Jiang Yan suppressed his curiosity and sat quietly by the waterfall, waiting for the time to return.

Just as he was looking at the forest below, a giant shadow swept across the sky above his head.

Looking at the giant fish clutched in that giant eagle's talons, Jiang Yan was somewhat shocked.

"Wu..."

A low yet powerful sound rang out behind him.

"Holy crap, my ears can hear sounds again?"

He hurriedly turned to look toward the source of the sound; one look and he was nearly scared to death.

The giant fish was like a skyscraper, appearing to be at least a hundred meters long.

Countless sprays of water splashed as it leaped, and it was like a depth charge when it sank.

Jiang Yan was certain that it wasn't that his ears had healed, but that the low-frequency sound had exceeded what his ears could normally accommodate.

'They say there is a fish in the North Sea named Kun, so large that one pot cannot stew it!'

Just as Jiang Yan was complaining about the big fish, his body felt as if it had been yanked by something, and immediately after, he flew up into the air.

Then he saw his body retreating rapidly at an infinite speed.

Looking at the tunnel of blue starlight, he only felt that his eyes were incredibly fatigued.

"Hey, wake up, we're home." Li Yi stepped forward and patted his shoulder.

Noticing blood stains remaining near his ears, he tapped two fingers on the base of his ears.

Jiang Yan snapped his eyes open and saw Li Yi, as well as an elderly woman.

"Not bad, you're not missing any arms or legs." Li Yi patted Jiang Yan's shoulder with satisfaction. "Come, pay your respects to your Grand Martial Uncle."

Feeling his hearing restored, Jiang Yan immediately reacted and hurriedly bowed, saying, "Disciple-grandson greets Grand Martial Uncle."

Lan Ruoyu nodded slightly. "Not bad, to be able to survive for three days in that place, you can be considered lucky."

"Grand Martial Uncle, what kind of place was that?" Jiang Yan hurriedly asked.

Lan Ruoyu smiled and shook her head, having no intention of explaining to Jiang Yan, instead pointing at the ring of Storage Pouches hanging from Jiang Yan's waist.

"The answer you want should be in these Storage Pouches."

Seeing the Storage Pouches at Jiang Yan's waist, Li Yi's eyes instantly lit up.

"My dear disciple, were you there for training, or were you clearly there to scavenge treasures?" Li Yi rubbed his hands and pointed to a blue Storage Pouch. "Disciple, you're still young and can't handle certain things; your Revered Master will hold onto this Storage Pouch for you first."

After saying that, Li Yi wanted to make a move.

Seeing this, how could Jiang Yan give his Cheap Master a chance? He decisively backed up a few steps, then quickly untied the Storage Pouches from his waist and tucked them into his robe.

"No way. If you want some, go in yourself," Jiang Yan said protectively.

"I'd like to go in, but I can't!" Li Yi argued.

Jiang Yan didn't understand this and quickly shifted his gaze to Lan Ruoyu.

Lan Ruoyu nodded slightly. "That Secret Realm can only be entered by those in the Qi Refining Realm; once you exceed the Qi Refining Realm, you can no longer enter."

"Hear that? Hand it over quickly." Li Yi beckoned with his hand, looking like he was doing it for Jiang Yan's own good.

Jiang Yan waved him off. "Wait a moment, let me see what's inside."

And just as Jiang Yan's voice fell and he was preparing to open that blue Storage Pouch, Li Yi instantly appeared in front of him and pressed down on his hand.

"You can open it, but not now!"

Li Yi turned to glance at his Junior Martial Uncle; Lan Ruoyu nodded and with a flick of her sleeve, a Formation barrier instantly covered the entire Small Courtyard.

Seeing Li Yi's expression, which didn't look like he was joking, and then looking at this Formation barrier, Jiang Yan's confidence suddenly wavered.

"Sigh, you." Li Yi was speechless as he took the blue Storage Pouch. "The fear of death is written all over your face."

The moment Li Yi opened the Storage Pouch, countless Spirit Stones fell onto the courtyard floor, followed by various spiritual materials and Magic Treasures, and even a Semi-Spiritual Artifact.

Seeing so many things, Jiang Yan even found it hard to breathe.

Just what kind of things had he brought back!

'Holy crap, it really is a windfall!'

Li Yi ignored Jiang Yan's shock, found two Tokens and a Jade Slip from the pile of Spirit Stones, and threw them to Jiang Yan.

"This is the answer you wanted. Your Revered Master will keep the rest for you; when you need them, come find your Revered Master to get them."

Seeing such a large fortune vanish, his heart was bleeding.

"Sigh... like hitting a dog with a meat bun."

"Damn, you kid are trying to defy your elders, aren't you!" Li Yi said as he immediately put away the Spirit Stones and other items on the ground.

Jiang Yan didn't dare talk back, but he grumbled in his heart: 'It's true... what kind of Revered Master steals his disciple's things?'

"The other Storage Pouches, do you want to open them now, or wait until we return to Spirit Beast Peak?" Li Yi asked.

"Revered Master, are you planning to bleed me dry?" Jiang Yan asked crossly.

"Don't worry, your Revered Master definitely won't want the things in those Storage Pouches." Li Yi waved his hand, looking dismissive.

Jiang Yan was speechless; only now did he realize that the blue Storage Pouch was clearly of a much higher grade than these black Storage Pouches.
