67: Su Qingyan's illness, retrieving the sword

Just as Jiang Yan was about to lose his temper, Lü Yue finally couldn't stand watching anymore and decisively stepped out.

“Blood Son, why must you be so persistent?” Lü Yue held Su Qingyan's hand, then apologized to Jiang Yan, “I apologize, Blood Disciple Su. Our Blood Son did not intend to offend you. I hope you can understand.”

Jiang Yan was speechless. He didn't understand; he felt that Su Qingyan was doing this on purpose.

It was bad enough that she had demanded a Talisman last time, but now she wanted him to enter the Blood Sword Pool to retrieve a sword!

What, did he just look like he had an easily bullied face?

“You retrieve the sword, and I will give you Spirit Stones.” Su Qingyan ignored Lü Yue, still holding out her hand and offering the three Spirit Stones to Jiang Yan.

Jiang Yan was getting annoyed. He felt this was an insult!

“Blood Disciple Su, you shouldn't...”

“What shouldn't? I want it!” Jiang Yan angrily interrupted Lü Yue. “I think she Cultivated so hard she fried her brain. She's crazy.”

Su Qingyan spoke coldly, as if she hadn't heard him: “You go down and get the sword. I can give you anything.”

“Holy crap, if a tiger doesn't show its might, you treat me like Hello Kitty, huh!” In his fury, Jiang Yan grabbed Su Qingyan's hand, intending to push her into the Blood Sword Pool.

But with that pull, instead of pushing Su Qingyan into the pool, he yanked her toward himself, and their lips immediately met.

‘Very soft, very fragrant...’

Lü Yue was stunned, and Jiang Yan himself was also stunned. Su Qingyan, however, acted as if nothing had happened.

“It's over, it's over, I'm dead!” Lü Yue was filled with regret. She now had no idea how she was going to report back.

Jiang Yan quickly let go of Su Qingyan's hand, stepped back, and said, “I'm telling you, that was absolutely not intentional. You bumped into me yourself.”

Su Qingyan said emotionlessly, “I want you to help me retrieve the sword.”

“Crack!”

Jiang Yan felt as if he had been struck by lightning. Communicating with a lunatic was genuinely exhausting.

“You, stop worrying!” Jiang Yan said to Lü Yue. “Tell me, what exactly is going on here?”

Lü Yue truly wanted to die at this moment, but maintaining silence wasn't an option, so she decided to just throw caution to the wind.

“Blood Son, please wait here. I will make sure he helps you retrieve the sword,” Lü Yue comforted Su Qingyan.

Su Qingyan nodded slightly: “Okay.”

Seeing Su Qingyan's simple reply, and watching Lü Yue walk over to pull him away, a melodramatic plot suddenly formed in Jiang Yan's mind.

“Blood Disciple Su, how about we go talk for a bit?” Lü Yue said, pointing toward the plaza.

Jiang Yan glanced at the cold Su Qingyan, feeling speechless, but still agreed, “Fine.”

Once the two arrived at the plaza, Lü Yue began to tell Su Qingyan's story.

Su Qingyan was originally the daughter of the Blood Fiend Sect's Saintess, but because the Saintess did not marry the Saint, a melodramatic incident occurred.

Later, the Blood Fiend Sect chose to withdraw from the world due to certain events, but the Saint, harboring hatred for the Saintess, had someone establish the Blood Cloud Sect outside.

The main task of the Blood Cloud Sect was to find the whereabouts of the Saintess.

Although they found the person, the Saintess had already died, leaving behind only Su Qingyan.

To take revenge on the Saintess, the Saint had someone extract one soul and one spirit from Su Qingyan, and then had her taught the Cultivation Cauldron Cultivation Technique.

“Then why does she want the soul suppressing talisman? And what's the deal with asking me to retrieve the sword?” Jiang Yan asked.

“Since she is missing one soul and one spirit, she feels like something is missing, which is why she sticks Talismans onto herself,” Lü Yue explained awkwardly. “As for retrieving that sword, it's because that sword is her only memory, and it was left to her by the Saintess.”

After hearing Lü Yue's explanation, Jiang Yan's eye twitched, and he inwardly complained furiously: 'This is damn melodramatic. Even novels wouldn't dare write this...'

“If I retrieve it, won't someone come looking for me?” Jiang Yan asked suspiciously.

“I don't know. No one has ever been able to retrieve that sword,” Lü Yue replied.

“Who is that person? Is it the Sect Master? Or the candidate?” Jiang Yan asked seriously.

“It's the candidate. He is the Saint's son. The Sect Master was merely the Saint's dao protector, and is now the candidate's dao protector,” Lü Yue answered.

“Truly melodramatic, they're even playing Eagle Snatching Chick!” Jiang Yan scoffed.

“What is Eagle Snatching Chick?” Lü Yue asked, confused.

“Nothing, it's just a metaphor.” Jiang Yan waved his hand. “So, should I retrieve it for her, or not?”

“Actually, I don't know either,” Lü Yue said awkwardly.

Jiang Yan gave a thumbs up: “You're really awesome!”

He figured it out: retrieving it would likely cause trouble, but if he didn't, Su Qingyan would follow him regardless.

This might be acceptable for a short time, but if it went on too long, he would definitely be discovered.

“Forget it, I'll go retrieve it for her now. But I have to make the ground rules clear: if anything goes wrong, you take responsibility yourselves, and absolutely do not drag me into it,” Jiang Yan warned.

“But you...” Lü Yue pointed to her own mouth.

Jiang Yan said with a look of disdain, “That was an accident. Besides, a kiss won't make you pregnant. If you don't say anything, that candidate won't know either.”

“Fine, I don't know anything anyway,” Lü Yue said through gritted teeth.

Lü Yue understood, but she was just afraid of what might happen to Su Qingyan after the sword was retrieved.

Jiang Yan didn't have time to worry about what Lü Yue was thinking; he just wanted to get away from Su Qingyan as soon as possible.

After all, being around an idiot was always uncomfortable.

“You help me...”

Before Su Qingyan could finish speaking, Jiang Yan immediately waved his hand to interrupt: “Fine, I'll help you. You don't need to keep nagging.”

After Jiang Yan stripped off his clothes, he dove straight into the Blood Sword Pool.

The Blood Sword Pool, as its name implied, was a sword-nurturing pool formed by irrigating it with fresh blood.

There were many swords at the bottom of the pool, and visibility was only about one meter. Jiang Yan slowly closed his eyes and began to sense his surroundings.

After sensing no Spiritual Qi fluctuations, he swam toward the other side.

The moment he started swimming, four or five precious swords at the bottom of the pool began to tremble.

Sensing the Spiritual Qi fluctuations of Magical Artifacts, Jiang Yan extended his right hand downward.

Instantly, five long Magical Artifact swords floated around him. Jiang Yan didn't know which one was hers, so he simply tossed them all toward the edge of the pool.

As the five long Magical Artifact swords appeared, Lü Yue and Su Qingyan quickly stepped forward to examine them.

“Is it there?” Jiang Yan asked.

“No,” Su Qingyan replied flatly.

Jiang Yan was speechless. He took a deep breath and submerged himself again.

This time he expanded his sensory abilities, and as he swam and searched, he quickly threw out three more long Magical Artifact swords.

This time, Su Qingyan answered without Jiang Yan even needing to ask: “No, none of them are it.”

Jiang Yan's mouth twitched, and he could only reluctantly dive down again.

As he retrieved one Magical Artifact after another, Lü Yue was stunned. She had gone down before, but only pulled up ordinary precious swords, yet Jiang Yan was retrieving nothing but Magical Artifacts and Magic Treasures.

Just as Jiang Yan felt helpless, a very strong Spiritual Qi fluctuation suddenly emanated from the front, near the springhead of the Blood Sword Pool.

‘Hmm?’

Jiang Yan was very confused, as he was extremely familiar with this Spiritual Qi fluctuation; it resembled a Spirit Treasure, but hadn't reached the Spirit Treasure rank.

‘Oh, a half-Spirit Treasure is hidden here. Interesting.’

Jiang Yan no longer hesitated and swam toward the location of the Spiritual Artifact.

As his senses drew closer, he immediately clenched his fist toward the springhead.

Immediately afterward, the sound of cracking stone echoed through the Blood Sword Pool.

When the stone cracked open, a silver-white long sword slowly settled into Jiang Yan's hand.

‘What is this fear?’

Jiang Yan felt the long sword trembling and realized it was afraid of him.

‘Interesting. I didn't expect killing that low-level Sword Spirit back then would have this kind of effect.’

He no longer hesitated, gripping the long sword and swimming toward the surface.

As he emerged from the Blood Sword Pool, Su Qingyan hurried over.

“It's it!” Su Qingyan finally showed a moved expression at this moment.

Seeing Su Qingyan's expression, Jiang Yan felt a little uneasy. Although he sympathized with Su Qingyan, he understood that this was the Immortal Realm.

He handed the long sword to Su Qingyan: “Here's your sword. Don't look for me again.”

“Thank you,” Su Qingyan thanked him coldly.

Jiang Yan ignored Su Qingyan, picked up his clothes, and said to Lü Yue, “Watch her closely. If anything happens in the future, absolutely do not look for me.”

Lü Yue nodded: “Thank you, I understand.”

Jiang Yan paid no further attention to the mistress and servant. In his view, as long as trouble wasn't brought upon him, everything was fine, and he was fine.

After returning to his small courtyard, washing his body, Jiang Yan immediately lay down and slept.
