20: Chapter 20 will teach you what rules are.

Jiang Feng pushed open the door and stepped into Yuan Chu's side courtyard.

Inside the room, the flickering candlelight cast a warm glow over the golden nanmu furniture and the calligraphy and paintings on the walls.

He had expected to see a quiet Fairy.

But the scene before him left him speechless.

He saw Yuan Chu sitting cross-legged, curled up on a soft rug covered with white fox fur.

On the table in front of her were piles of snacks, leftover fatty chicken, and several opened jars of fine wine.

At this moment, she was grabbing a glistening roasted chicken leg with one hand and holding a piece of osmanthus cake in the other, her small mouth stuffed full, her cheeks bulging, and her face smeared with grease from eating.

The movements were somewhat crude, yet they carried a sense of innocence.

There was absolutely none of the ethereal Fairy demeanor she had when they first met.

She was just like a little glutton who had never seen the world.

Jiang Feng's tense mood actually relaxed at this sight.

Interesting.

Truly interesting.

To deal with a foodie like this, whatever schemes he might use probably wouldn't be as effective as a table of good food.

Jiang Feng even wondered if he could replicate the "Manchu Han Imperial Feast" from his past life, would it be enough to smooth out the sharp edges of this little Fairy?

"Hmm?"

Yuan Chu seemed to notice the movement at the doorway; she looked up, and those clear eyes instantly lit up when she saw Jiang Feng.

She casually dropped the half-eaten chicken leg, not even bothering to wipe the sauce from the corner of her mouth, and ran over barefoot, grabbing Jiang Feng's sleeve.

Her tone was full of anticipation and longing.

"Can you make delicious food? Is it thousands of times more fragrant than the wild fruits and roasted meat I ate in the mountains before?"

In her eyes, there was no concern for gender boundaries, no sense of duty as a concubine, only a pure longing for good food.

Looking at her like this, Jiang Feng's wariness gradually dissipated, replaced by a sense of helplessness.

He reached out and gently wiped the grease from the corner of her mouth with his thumb, feeling her delicate skin.

"Of course there is delicious food; delicacies from land and sea, whatever you want, I can get for you."

Jiang Feng's voice softened, carrying a coaxing tone, "But you must promise me one thing first."

"What thing?" Yuan Chu's attention was entirely on his promise, and she nodded like a chick pecking at rice.

"From now on, you are not allowed to pry into my inner thoughts again." Jiang Feng's tone became serious.

This feeling of being seen through was truly terrible.

It was like a gambler holding countless trump cards, only to find that their opponent was cheating, and every move they made, even the next card they were about to play, was clearly seen by the other side.

Yuan Chu blinked her large, innocent eyes and mumbled vaguely: "I can't control it! It just wants to look on its own..."

She changed the subject, stood on tiptoes, leaned in close to Jiang Feng, her breath like orchids, a cunning light flashing in her eyes.

"Perhaps... once I eat that Medicinal Pill you mentioned that can repair Spiritual Roots, and I have cultivation, I will be able to control these disobedient eyes."

Here she goes again.

Jiang Feng thought to himself.

This girl could always accurately find his "weak spot" and, using the most innocent tone, propose the most irresistible deal.

Jiang Feng looked at her with a half-smile: "Then you must also know where that Medicinal Pill comes from, right?"

"I know."

Yuan Chu nodded as if it were a matter of course, even tilting her head, and added innocently: "I even saw from Su Wan's heart and Yue Yao's heart that the process was quite pleasant!"

Jiang Feng's eye twitched.

This woman said shocking things and didn't feel shy at all.

He took a deep breath, deepened his tone, and emphasized word by word: "Then you promise that after your Awakening of the Spiritual Root, you are not allowed to secretly look into my inner thoughts!"

"Who wants to look at your thoughts!"

Yuan Chu pouted as if wronged, then, as if she had seen through something else, giggled and mercilessly exposed him.

"Oh, so you are afraid that I will see through your secret calculations, wondering what kind of earth-shattering reward that thing called 'System' will give you after you take me down?"

She laughed until she was shaking, "Don't worry, I won't fight you for it, I'll just stay by your side and bask in your glory."

One sentence made Jiang Feng's smile freeze completely on his face.

System!

She even knew of the System's existence!

Although what she said might just be a general concept, the word "reward" undoubtedly proved that she had insight into his most core secret!

Jiang Feng's pupils contracted, and he scrutinized the young girl before him without moving.

Who exactly was she?

A descendant of a Holy Land drifting in the mortal world? Or the Reincarnation of some great power?

If it was the former, the Jiang Family's foundation was not even worth dust in front of a real Holy Land.

If it was the latter... once she recovered her memory, would he, this "husband," be slapped to death by her?

The risk of this gamble seemed to be beyond control.

"Don't think about it, I am so cute, and my heart is very kind. Even if I have some great background, I won't easily do anything to harm my husband."

Seeing that he hadn't reacted for a long time, Yuan Chu became even bolder; she reached out with her slender fingers and poked his solid chest, her tone full of mockery.

"Or is it that you spent too long fussing around with Su Wan, and now your waist is sore and your legs are weak, and you have no strength left?"

"Or perhaps..."

She deliberately drew out her tone, her gaze scanning Jiang Feng up and down with great aggression, finally lingering on a certain key area, with a hint of playful contempt.

"Husband, with your sixty-year-old body... could it be that you are not capable anymore?"

That last sentence exploded in Jiang Feng's mind!

Men, especially men like Jiang Feng who had lived two lifetimes and were blessed by the System, were very sensitive to having their fundamentals questioned!

This was not a provocation; this was an attack on his dignity as a man!

And if he let her keep talking, whether he was a transmigrator, what the System was called, how many positions he used last nightβ€”it would all likely be told by her like a storybook!

In the battle of words, in the face of [Telepathy], he had already lost.

Then, he could only change the method to let her understand what rules were.

"Shut up!"

Jiang Feng let out a low shout, the suppressed anger in his voice no longer hidden, and it even hid a trace of impulse completely stirred up by her.

He had decided.

Today, he must let this little Fairy who didn't know the heights of the sky and the depths of the earth properly experience the dangers of the mortal world!

Before his voice had even faded, Jiang Feng didn't give her any chance to speak again.

He took a sudden step forward, his large hand grabbing Yuan Chu's slender waist, while the other hand held the back of her head, pulling her toward him with irresistible force.

Immediately, he lowered his head and fiercely blocked those soft, red lips that wouldn't stop chattering and causing trouble.

"Mmph... Mmph!"

Yuan Chu was caught off guard; those beautiful eyes that could see through human hearts instantly widened, filled with shock and panic.

The osmanthus cake in her hand fell to the ground with a "plop."

Her hands subconsciously pushed against Jiang Feng's chest, wanting to push him away, but she found that the other party's strength was great and could not be shaken.

However, after only a moment of struggle, her tense body relaxed slightly.

In her clear eyes, the panic faded, and a trace of a triumphant, mischievous smile actually flashed through.

Obviously, she had seen through him again.

She had seen through that this Old Ancestor husband was fierce in words and domineering in action, but deep down, he couldn't do anything about her, and in fact... he even liked it.

Yuan Chu no longer resisted; she even mischievously and quietly hooked her arms around Jiang Feng's neck, responding awkwardly.

The candlelight flickered, and the light and shadows were mottled.

Stretching the figures of the two tightly embracing each other and projecting them onto the wall.
