81: Chapter 81 We Seem to Have Been Eaten

The moment Jiang Feng stepped into the cave entrance, a scorching heatwave rushed toward him, stinging his skin.

He licked his dry, cracked lips, and the playful smirk at the corner of his mouth became even more pronounced.

The more sinister this place was, the more likely it was to hide good things.

He glanced back; Yao Shifei looked solemn, the Huangfu Sisters appeared curious and nervous, while only Young Master Jiang Chen remained reticent.

"Stay close, and be careful."

Jiang Feng warned, then walked inside first.

Just moments after the figures of the five of them had completely disappeared into the dark cave entrance.

Swoosh! Swoosh!

Two sharp sounds of breaking through the air rang out, and two young Cultivators wearing robes with cyan cloud patterns landed steadily in front of the cave entrance.

These two were the very Disciples of the Qingyun Sect that Patriarch Qin Hai had brought along.

One of them sensed the aura lingering at the entrance, and a flash of surprise crossed his brow.

"Eh? Senior Brother Liu, how is it that there is an aura of our Qingyun Sect Formation inside...?"

The man addressed as Senior Brother Liu waved his hand dismissively, his eyes filled with lewdness and arrogance.

"Never mind what Formation it is, let's go in and take a look first. While we're at it, we'll take care of that ant surnamed Jiang; that old guy Patriarch Qin Hai is paying a high price."

He paused, his lewd gaze seemingly able to pierce through the rock walls to see the graceful figures inside.

"That pair of twin sisters, one with a fiery temper and the other with a cold temperament—tsk tsk, they really look so tender. Senior Brother really loves this kind of 'ice and fire' dynamic."

"Hahaha!" The person who spoke first also let out a lewd laugh of mutual understanding. "Senior Brother has a good eye! But I prefer the one with the fragrance of herbs; her figure is mature and charming, and her appearance is stunning—hardly anyone in the Qingyun Sect can compare. Playing with her must be a unique experience!"

"Good! That one is yours, and the twin sisters are mine!"

The two smiled at each other, their laughter filled with the certainty of securing their prey. Immediately, they concealed their auras, turned into two ghostly shadows, and silently followed into the cave.

...

Inside the cave was another world.

As the five of them walked deeper, the temperature rose, and the rock walls showed a dark red color as if scorched by raging fire.

The air was filled with a thick smell of blood, mixed with a pungent scent of sulfur that made one feel nauseous.

"This place is too eerie." Huangfu Yunni couldn't help but wrinkle her nose, her pretty face flushed with an unnatural redness due to the high temperature.

Yao Shifei's expression became increasingly solemn: "Husband, the Spiritual Qi here is extremely chaotic, filled with strangeness everywhere, and... the smell of blood is too heavy; it doesn't seem like it was left by ordinary Yao Beasts."

Jiang Feng did not speak, simply walking silently at the very front. His Divine Sense had long been spread out, remaining vigilant of his surroundings.

After walking for about half an hour, just as the Huangfu Sisters were about to become dehydrated from the heat, the scene ahead suddenly opened up.

A bone-chilling coldness abruptly replaced the scorching heatwave, and the huge temperature difference made everyone shiver in unison.

They had arrived at a massive underground cavern.

In the very center of the cavern was a pool about three feet in diameter. The water in the pool was not clear but a viscous dark red; that extremely thick smell of blood and the cold sensation were emanating from here.

In the center of the blood pool, a stone disk floated quietly, carved with countless mysterious and twisted patterns, resembling some kind of Formation.

Jiang Feng's brows instantly knitted together.

These patterns were somewhat familiar; it seemed he had seen them somewhere before.

Scattered around the blood pool were various weapons—blades, spears, swords, halberds, axes, hooks, and forks. Many of the weapons still had dark brown bloodstains on them, evidently having been sealed in this place for who knows how many years.

"Strange, where is the Tier 3 Demon King?" Huangfu Yunshang muttered, looking around. It was dead silent, with no aura of any Yao Beasts.

The feeling of unease in Jiang Feng's heart grew stronger and stronger.

When things are abnormal, there must be a demon.

"Everyone be careful, don't touch anything here!" He lowered his voice, his tone more serious than ever before.

However, just as his voice fell, Huangfu Yunni's eyes suddenly lit up.

She pointed to a pair of ring-shaped weapons lying quietly at the edge of the blood pool and let out an irrepressible exclamation.

"Jiang Feng, look! Is... is that a True Artifact?"

Everyone looked in the direction she indicated and saw a pair of silver-white rings. One was carved with a scorching sun pattern, and the other with a crescent moon pattern. A faint flowing light flickered on them, emitting a powerful aura fluctuation that far exceeded that of a top-grade Spiritual Artifact!

The sun and moon rings!

Even just lying there quietly, one could feel the powerful energy contained within them.

The breathing of the Huangfu Sisters instantly quickened, their eyes glowing, and their bodies moved forward uncontrollably.

Seeing that the two had been blinded by the treasure and were simultaneously reaching out for the pair of rings, Jiang Feng's expression changed drastically, and he shouted sternly: "Don't touch!"

He moved, almost turning into an afterimage as he prepared to step forward to stop them.

But it was already too late!

The sisters, whose minds had been blinded by greed, moved astonishingly fast. Almost the instant his shout rang out, their slender hands had each picked up the sun ring and the moon ring respectively.

The moment they picked up the sun and moon rings.

Rumble!

The entire cave began to shake violently without warning!

The ground beneath their feet began to crack, and rocks from the ceiling fell down with a rustling sound, ready to collapse at any moment.

The eerie blood pool in the center, along with the mysterious disk, actually disappeared into thin air amidst a distortion of space!

Replacing them, the originally hard stone walls all around began to soften and slowly writhe, oozing a black, viscous liquid that emitted a pungent stench! The liquid, accompanied by a hissing corrosive sound, twisted and spread toward them!

"Not good!"

Jiang Feng's face turned livid, and he pulled Yao Shifei and Young Master Jiang Chen to his side.

The Huangfu Sisters were also frightened pale by this sudden turn of events, their bodies trembling slightly. Clutching the newly acquired, now scalding hot sun and moon rings tightly, they hurriedly hid behind Jiang Feng, their pretty faces deathly pale.

"Jiang Feng... I... we didn't mean to; just now, I don't know why, but our bodies were out of our control." Huangfu Yunni's voice was laced with a crying tone.

The Huangfu Sisters hurriedly threw away the sun and moon rings in their hands.

Jiang Feng had no time to pay attention to them now.

He stared intently at the black viscous liquid closing in, as well as the violently shaking cavern, and an absurd and terrifying thought surged into his mind.

Meanwhile, the always silent Yao Shifei had keenly sensed something. With a deathly pale face, she grabbed Jiang Feng's arm, her voice trembling.

"Husband, it seems... we have been eaten."
