101: Chapter 101 Chen Qing and Li Meng
"Come in."
Ming Yueguang's voice rang out from inside.
With a "click," the door opened automatically.
Li Yu was slightly stunned for a moment, then walked into the office. Calling it an office was a stretch; it was more like a library. At the far end, the large desk was piled high with ancient books, and on the white velvet carpets to the left and right, walls of books had also been built.
Ming Yueguang's figure was almost hidden among the books.
Suddenly, a fair hand moved a stack of books aside, revealing a beautiful oval face. Her eyes blinked as she looked at Li Yu in surprise. "Why are you here? Aren't you supposed to be breeding for the Rongrong Group right now?"
Li Yu said, "The breeding is finished."
Ming Yue seemed to suddenly remember something. "Ah," she said, "I just saw a giant lizard. You bred that, didn't you?"
"Yes." Seeing the strange look on her face, Li Yu asked, "What's wrong?"
"My little fox was disturbed by that lizard and almost went to eat it. That was a close call; it turns out that's a client of the company." Ming Yueguang patted her chest and gave a mischievous smile.
As the CEO, she didn't put on any airs at all. She was like a young girl obsessed with books and oblivious to the world, leaving Li Yu dumbfounded.
And...
What did she mean by "almost ate the giant lizard"?
She almost ate a Monarch S-Class, Peak Gold-tier Sky-Shattering Fire Dragon?
Is this the realm of a powerhouse?
Talking about eating a Sky-Shattering Fire Dragon as easily as eating a dried fish snack.
"Do you need something from me?" Ming Yueguang moved a few more stacks of books, revealing more of herself.
Li Yu's expression turned serious. "My sister was kidnapped by the Guardian the company found for me. Her goal is to kill me."
Ming Yueguang stopped with the books in her hands, her eyes blinking as if she had frozen up.
"Your sister was kidnapped by your Guardian?"
"Yes."
"The Guardian's goal is to kill you?"
"Yes."
"That sounds like fun." Ming Yueguang's eyes lit up.
"Fu... fun?"
"Ah, no, I meant it sounds very dangerous."
"You said 'fun.' I heard you."
"Those aren't mutually exclusive. Many fun things are dangerous," Ming Yueguang's eyes sparkled, a smile of eagerness on her face. "At least I'm interested, aren't I?"
Li Yu said helplessly, "Yes."
"Do you know where she is?"
"My beast should be able to find her location."
"Alright then, let's go together. It sounds very interesting." Ming Yueguang smiled, her face filled with the spirit of adventure and games. Li Yu couldn't help but wonder if asking her was the right choice.
But Chen Qing's strength was extraordinary; ordinary people were no match for her. Aside from Ming Yueguang, he couldn't think of anyone else who could help him.
"There's no time to lose. Let's go quickly," Li Yu said.
"Wait."
"What's wrong?"
"I can't get out." Ming Yueguang held a stack of books, standing amidst the wall-like piles, her tone a bit resentful. "Aren't you going to help me?"
Li Yu: "..."
It was half an hour later by the time the two of them finished carefully moving the books.
After leaving the office, Ming Yueguang stomped her foot. Ice crystals formed high heels under her feet, and she gave Li Yu a bright smile. "Let's go."
She walked forward with light steps. She didn't look like she was going to save someone; rather, it seemed like she was going out to play.
Li Yu couldn't help but wonder.
Was it really the right choice to find her?
"Don't just stand there. Careful, or she might change her mind in a moment."
Special Assistant Yang's voice rang out unexpectedly, startling Li Yu. Turning around, he saw Special Assistant Yang leaning against the door of the office next door with a complicated expression.
"Yeah. Thanks."
Li Yu caught up with Ming Yueguang. Led by the Spirit Diagram Armor, the two of them left the company and headed in one direction.
...
In a room within the Old District.
A faint smell of blood permeated the air. Chen Qing tore open Li Meng's clothes and hurriedly wiped away the blood, applying medicine and bandaging the wound. Her fair face was stained with some blood from wiping away sweat.
Her movements were very gentle, fearing she might hurt Li Meng.
After a while, the medicine took effect, and the wound stopped bleeding. Li Meng's face regained some color, and her furrowed brows slowly relaxed.
Chen Qing also breathed a sigh of relief, but as soon as she met Li Meng's eyes, her heart felt a wave of panic.
She stood up, preparing to leave.
"Why do you want to kill my brother?" Li Meng asked.
Chen Qing's movements stopped. "If I don't kill him, I'll die."
"Then why did you save me? Since you're going to kill my brother anyway, one more person wouldn't make a difference."
"That makes sense. You should have said so earlier."
Chen Qing said expressionlessly, her meaning simple—if you had said so earlier, I wouldn't have had to save you.
"Big sister, what's your name?" Li Meng suddenly asked.
"Chen Qing."
"I can't hear you clearly. Can you come closer?" Li Meng asked again.
Chen Qing frowned and stared at Li Meng, but she still walked forward. When she reached the bedside, Li Meng asked in a low voice, "Do you... like my brother?"
As soon as those words were spoken, Chen Qing's heart fluttered with inexplicable panic. Just as she was about to retort, Li Meng had already snatched a dagger she had on her and lunged at Chen Qing's neck.
This strike was filled with guilt, but also with resolve.
Chen Qing instantly snapped back to her senses. With a flick of her finger, the dagger shattered into pieces that scattered across the floor. She struck like lightning, grabbing Li Meng by the throat and lifting her from the bed.
Her slender fingers were now as hard and powerful as iron, digging deep into the flesh of Li Meng's neck, almost touching the bone. With just a little more force, Li Meng's bones would snap with a "crack."
The immense pain and the feeling of suffocation made Li Meng struggle violently, her legs kicking wildly.
"I saved you, yet you try to kill me." Her voice was cold.
Li Meng gasped for air with difficulty. "I... I can die with you! I'll pay you back! But you can't... you can't kill my brother!"
"My mission is to kill him. Killing you serves no purpose."
"Then... I'm sorry."
Li Meng's eyes suddenly widened. Her right hand clutched a shard of the dagger as she slashed at Chen Qing's neck. The sharp shard pierced her palm, leaving it a bloody mess, but she didn't care.
Chen Qing swayed slightly, dodging Li Meng's attack. She turned and kicked Li Meng back onto the bed. The wound took a heavy hit and tore open again, blood quickly staining her abdomen.
Li Meng curled up like a shrimp in pain, her face pale as large beads of sweat fell one by one.
Chen Qing ignored her and walked straight out the door. She paused at the doorway, sighed, and then turned back to bandage Li Meng's wound once more.
"You're no match for me, so don't even think about it. If the wound opens again, I won't bother with you."
"Oh..."
Five minutes later.
Clang!
Bang!
Li Meng curled up like a shrimp again, the freshly bandaged wound tearing open once more.
"I told you, you're no match for me. I'll bandage it for the last time. If it opens again, you can just wait to die!"
Another five minutes passed.
"I'm bandaging it for the absolute last time!!!"
Another ten minutes passed.
"Argh!!! I'm bandaging it for the very, very last time! Don't push me!"
Chen Qing was exasperated, but her technique had become much more skillful. Having learned her lesson, she immediately pulled away after finishing the bandage, giving Li Meng no chance to attack her.
She couldn't understand where someone with barely half a life left got the strength to attack her.
Suddenly, Chen Qing snapped her head toward the window. "Who's there?!"
She leapt out the window and landed in the alley, but the alley was quiet. Aside from trash and sewage on the ground, there was nothing unusual.
She looked around but saw nothing, shaking her head in frustration.
"I must be driven crazy by her, my judgment is off."
By the time she returned to the room, Li Meng had fallen quietly asleep. Chen Qing breathed a sigh of relief.
"It's better that you're asleep. It's better for both of us."
