54: Three different pythons
Until Chu Qinhui finished recounting his trip, Chu Jingyu did not offer any opinion on his actions.
He picked up the golden scale, examined it for a moment, and said thoughtfully, "I didn't expect that the most precious thing in that forest would turn out to be this scale. What did you say it was called again?"
"Golden Scaled Dragon Fish."
"Next time you go to town, sell it. What our Family needs right now is not a foundation, but the funds to help you all grow quickly."
Chu Jingyu placed the scale back into Chu Qinhui's hand, having no intention of keeping it as a Family foundation.
Knowing his father's thoughts, Chu Qinhui carefully put the scale away. "Should I sell the scale to Uncle Sun, or send it to the Treasure Pavilion as an auction item?"
"After all, it was Uncle Sun who informed you of the scale's properties and uses, so it is better to trade it to him. For us, maintaining this relationship is very important."
Chu Qinhui nodded to show he understood. He looked at his daughter, Chu Shenghan. "Xiao Han, are you afraid of snakes?"
Upon hearing this, Chu Shenghan raised her eyes to look at her father. Her fingers fidgeted uneasily in front of her, and she gave a soft "Mm."
"Xiao Han is afraid of snakes?" Chu Jingyu asked with confusion.
"Didn't Xiao Han get bitten by a snake two years ago? I'm afraid she might have some psychological trauma." Chu Qinhui explained the reason for Xiao Han's fear of snakes.
Chu Jingyu's eyebrows furrowed slightly, then smoothed out. "If Xiao Han is truly afraid after these three snake eggs hatch, then we will just buy another Source Beast from town to form a contract."
Chu Shenghan pinched the corner of her clothes and said softly, "Grandfather, it's okay, I can overcome it."
Chu Jingyu smiled and placed his palm on Chu Shenghan's head. "It's alright. If you're afraid, you're afraid. For your own sake and for the sake of your Source Beast, it is best to contract a Source Beast that you truly like."
Chu Shenghan looked at the three snake eggs in the wooden basin, her eyes flashing with a determined light.
By evening, the spiritual liquid in the wooden basin had been completely absorbed by the three snake eggs, but they still had not hatched.
Chu Jingyu had no choice but to pour in another ten bottles of spiritual liquid. It wasn't until the next morning that slight cracks appeared on the surface of the three snake eggs.
The three snake eggs also began to wobble restlessly, as if something was about to burst out from inside.
Chu Jingyu had been dozing on a recliner, but the moment the three snake eggs showed signs of activity, he woke up and began to observe them with burning eyes.
"Crack, crack."
The first snake egg was pushed open from the inside, creating a large hole, and a greenish-grey snake head poked out from within.
Its tongue kept flicking out from its mouth, seemingly perceiving its surroundings.
After perceiving for a while, it lowered its head and began to nibble bit by bit along the edge of the hole in the eggshell.
Following the birth of the first python cub, similar cracks appeared on the other two snake eggs, and two small heads poked out one after another.
However, their colors were vastly different. One had a pinkish-white head, while the other had emerald-green skin interspersed with pink runes, looking extremely unique.
But the weakest one was the emerald-green python cub with pink patterns; not only was its body much smaller than the other two, but its eyes also appeared duller.
When Chu Jingyu looked at it, he couldn't help but frown tightly. Because while the other two had already eaten more than half of their eggshells, it only took a few weak bites, as if it couldn't bite through, and stopped moving its mouth, instead retreating its entire body back into the eggshell.
Chu Jingyu watched anxiously from the side, fearing that if he wasn't careful, this little guy would die inside the snake egg.
After the other two snakes finished eating their eggshells, their bodies had grown noticeably larger, but they were clearly not satisfied, and excitedly crawled toward the eggshell of the weak little snake in the wooden basin.
Chu Jingyu was quick-witted and agile; he immediately took the third little snake's eggshell out of the wooden basin and peered carefully into the opening.
Finding that the weak little snake was just listlessly coiled inside the eggshell and was still alive, Chu Jingyu finally breathed a sigh of relief.
He thought for a moment, then took out a specific porcelain bottle containing spiritual liquid and carefully dripped a few drops into the opening of the eggshell.
After the weak little snake licked a few times, it seemed to regain some strength and straightened its body again, slowly nibbling along the edge of the eggshell's opening.
The other two little snakes, seeing the food disappear, crawled around the wooden basin somewhat anxiously, but upon seeing each other, they did not attack one another.
Although their appearances and even species were vastly different, the scent of the same origin on their bodies made them see each other as Family.
After exploring the wooden basin and finding no food, the two little ones crawled out along the edge of the basin and came onto the stone table. As they explored, they poked their heads out, trying to find a suitable path to leave the stone table.
Chu Jingyu looked at the lively pair, then looked at the little snake in his hand, which had taken two bites of the eggshell and then lay back down listlessly. He felt quite helpless; the difference between children from the same parents was just too great.
To prevent the lively pair from running around, Chu Jingyu freed up his other hand, picked up the two little guys, and went into the Main Hall. He bowed to the stone book on the Eight Immortals Table before speaking:
"Apologies for disturbing Ancestor Chu's cultivation. This python cub in the eggshell has some Innate deficiencies. I wonder if Ancestor Chu has a way to help it recover its health?"
Hearing the voice, Chu Mu woke up from the Simmons mattress he had conjured for himself. He looked toward the outside world and saw the three little guys with different appearances in Chu Jingyu's hands.
Snakes.
Chu Mu, whose consciousness was still a bit hazy, immediately sobered up. It wasn't that he was afraid, he just really couldn't bring himself to like such long, soft creatures—though that was a different story when it came to Dragons.
Chu Mu stood up and went to the pavilion he had conjured. He said indifferently:
"First, send the three little guys in."
Colorful silk threads spread out and pulled the two python cubs—one green and one pink—on Chu Jingyu's left hand, as well as the snake egg and the weak little snake inside it on his right hand, into the vortex portal on the stone book.
It seemed that Ancestor Chu did not give him the right to refuse. Chu Jingyu looked at his now empty hands.
"Sorry to trouble Ancestor Chu."
In the pavilion, Chu Mu watched the three little guys from a distance of several meters, taking an extra look at the one curled up inside the snake egg.
Upon arriving in the new environment, the two lively ones were already impatient to explore their surroundings. Chu Mu did not stop them, allowing them to explore freely; after all, as long as they were still in this space, Chu Mu could find them no matter where they went.
Opening the [Nameless Book], Chu Mu found the information on the three little guys under Family assets.
It was just a bit strange; even though they were from the same parents, these three python cubs had three different species names.
[Green Forest Giant Python], [Pink Rock Crystal Python], [Wood Spirit Crystal Pattern Python].
