278: Hidden main quest - The sad wish of the fallen elf queen!
The Queen’s voice echoed in the silent hall, each word like a cold stone, hitting Su Mo’s heart.
“A key.”
Deep within her silver-grey eyes, the two clusters of excited flames burned even more fiercely, as if they wanted to ignite Su Mo’s soul.
“A key that can open the door I have longed for.”
As her words fell, she took half a step forward, the oppressive feeling from her astonishing height almost suffocating.
She extended a slender, pale finger, a wisp of extremely faint Abyssal Demonic Qi lingering at its tip, lightly touching Su Mo’s brow.
The fingertip was icy cold, yet it carried a scorching implication.
“So, I give you a choice.”
Her voice lowered, imbued with a seductive demonic power, “Become my King Consort.”
“Not a plaything, but an equal partner to me. You help me get what I want, and I will share the authority over this land with you, and bestow upon you unimaginable power.”
Her finger pressed slightly, causing Su Mo a hint of pain.
“Of course, you can also refuse.”
The Queen’s tone suddenly turned cold, and the demonic qi at her fingertip became dangerous.
“In that case, your interesting soul will become the first sacrifice to open that door. Believe me, the process will not be too pleasant.”
Threat, a naked threat.
Su Mo’s eyelid twitched.
King Consort?
Equal partner?
Why does this script feel so damn familiar?
The Elf Queen just finished her act, and now another one?
Are all Queens into this now? Recruiting a live-in son-in-law at the drop of a hat?
When did he become a Queen killer?
However, for him, this was a rather good development.
He was just wondering how to get to know the Fallen Elf Queen’s background, and she proactively offered the ladder.
“Your Majesty, I have always been very interested in power.”
The indifference on Su Mo’s face instantly melted, replaced by that cynical, wicked smile.
He did not retreat; instead, he stepped forward, meeting the Queen’s fingertip, the distance between them so close that they could almost feel each other’s breath.
He tilted his head slightly, his gaze boldly sliding from her burning eyes to her tightly pursed red lips.
“However, before we talk about marriage, shouldn’t we first get to know each other more ‘deeply’?”
He deliberately emphasized the word “deeply,” his tone ambiguous,
“To see if we are truly suitable?”
“Oh?”
The Fallen Elf Queen looked at the undisguised challenge and playfulness in Su Mo’s eyes, and on her eternally frozen, beautiful face, a rare, faint smile actually bloomed.
Though the smile was fleeting, it was like the dawn breaking in an eternal night, brightening the entire gloomy hall.
“You are very interesting.”
She withdrew her finger, and her cold, magnetic voice now carried a hint of genuine emotion.
“I like men like you.”
After speaking, she turned around and walked back to the massive black crystal throne with elegant and lazy steps. She did not sit down again but leaned against the armrest of the throne, propping her chin with one hand, resuming her high and mighty Queenly posture.
The silk dress, with her movements, outlined a breathtaking curve, making Su Mo’s heart itch.
This woman was simply walking hormones.
“My goal is very simple.”
The Queen’s voice came from the throne, dispelling the romantic thoughts in Su Mo’s mind.
“We did not willingly Fall.”
In her voice, a hint of undetectable weariness and sorrow suddenly emerged.
“A hundred years ago, to fight an ancient nemesis we could not defeat, our ancestors gambled everything, borrowing power from the Abyss.”
“We won, a tragic victory. The price was that the bloodlines and souls of all of us were completely polluted by the chaotic and filthy power of the Abyss. We are no longer Elves; our bodies are mutated, our souls are depraved, and we are abandoned by the entire world.”
“This land, eroded by the Abyss, became our only refuge, and also our eternal prison.”
As she said this, she raised her hand and pointed towards the depths of the hall, where a dense darkness shrouded the area.
“Named Queen, but actually a jailer. My mission is to guard the seal that connects our world to the Abyss, to prevent the Abyssal pollution from spreading further.”
Su Mo looked in the direction she pointed, and although he could see nothing, he could feel an Abyssal aura there that was a hundred times denser than in the hall.
So that’s how it is.
He understood all the key points.
This Queen and her people were trapped here by the power of the Abyss, like a group of prisoners sentenced to life imprisonment.
And he, an “outsider” with the power of death, which was diametrically opposed to, and even of a higher status than, the power of the Abyss, was not bound by this land.
It turned out this Queen wasn’t looking for a King Consort; she was looking for free labor who could run errands for her without needing social security benefits!
“So, what do you want me to do?” Su Mo looked at her, getting straight to the point.
The Queen leaned against the armrest of the throne, her silver-grey eyes quietly watching him, her voice cold and clear, without any further hesitation.
“I want you to go to the bottom of the Abyss.”
“To retrieve something for me.”
“Bottom of the Abyss?”
Su Mo raised an eyebrow, thinking this woman really dared to ask.
Forget about free labor; was she planning to use him as a disposable consumable?
“Exactly.”
The Queen nodded, seemingly seeing through his thoughts but not caring, “At the very bottom of this City of Depravity, there is an ancient passage sealed by our ancestors that leads directly to the bottom of the Abyss.”
“That is where the power of the entire Abyss is purest and most dangerous. At the end of the passage, a guardian beast resides.”
Her tone was calm, yet it sent a chill down Su Mo’s spine.
“It is not a physical entity, but rather formed by the purest Abyssal laws, immune to all physical and magical damage. Any living creature that approaches will be assimilated by the laws, disappearing into nothingness. Any deceased soul cannot deceive its Perception, and will only have its essence devoured.”
“It is the law itself, an insurmountable barrier.”
“But you are different.”
At this point, the Queen leaned slightly forward, and a faint but persistent light ignited deep within her ice-crystal eyes.
That gaze was no longer a high and mighty scrutiny, but a desperate longing.
“Although you are alive, your soul is branded with the authority of death, which is of a higher order than the Abyss. You walk between life and death, not completely bound by the laws of either side.”
“You are the only variable.”
“So I want you to go there and help me retrieve an ‘Abyssal Heart’.”
“As long as I can get it, I can use its inherent power to purify the Abyssal pollution in our people’s bloodline, freeing us from this eternal prison.”
In her voice, a century of suppressed weariness and anticipation finally leaked out.
“At that time, I will not only tell you all the secrets about the Abyss, but the wealth and resources accumulated by our Fallen Elves for a thousand years will also be shared with you.”
She paused, her gaze slowly sliding from Su Mo’s eyes to his lips, her voice also lowering, carrying a fatal seduction.
“Even… I, myself, can be yours.”
As soon as her words fell, Su Mo immediately heard the cold system prompt.
【Ding! Congratulations! You have successfully triggered the hidden main quest — The Fallen Queen’s Tragic Wish!】
【Quest Content: Go to the bottom of the Abyss, obtain the ‘Abyssal Heart’, and hand it over to the Fallen Elf Queen.】
【Quest Reward: ???, Fallen Elf Queen’s Affection MAX, ???】
【Quest Failure Penalty: Your soul will be devoured by the Fallen Elf Queen.】
A series of question marks, coupled with the simple and brutal penalty for failure, all indicated the terrifying difficulty of this quest.
But risk and reward are always proportional.
If this quest was completed, the rewards would definitely be sky-high!
Not to mention there was an impossibly beautiful ice-cold Queen as an “extra.”
This deal was a win-win no matter how you looked at it!
“Deal.”
Su Mo’s smile grew even more wicked, a mix of seventy percent calculation and thirty percent absolute certainty.
“However, I also have a few conditions.”
“Speak.” The Queen reverted to her concise style.
“First, my women must have absolute safety and freedom in this city.”
“Agreed.”
“Second, I need all information about the bottom of the Abyss and that guardian beast, the more detailed the better.”
“Agreed.”
“Third…”
Su Mo deliberately drew out his words, his gaze brazenly sweeping from the Queen’s delicate collarbone, all the way down, surveying her astonishing curves encased in the silk dress.
That gaze was like he was appraising a trophy that was about to belong to him.
“After I return, I want to personally ‘inspect’ whether Your Majesty, this ‘extra,’ truly suits my taste.”
“You… Presumptuous!”
Before the Queen could speak, the Spider-legged Madam Proprietor, who had been kneeling beneath the throne, suddenly looked up, her eight sharp spider legs trembling slightly with anger, wishing she could tear Su Mo to pieces on the spot.
However, an even colder, more authoritative voice interrupted her.
“Good.”
A faint smile once again bloomed on the Queen’s eternally frozen face.
The smile was like a snow lotus quietly blossoming in the bitter cold of winter, beautiful, yet carrying an bone-chilling coldness.
She looked down at Su Mo, saying word by word:
“As long as you return alive, I will satisfy you.”
