145: Black fog in the dark night

After this incident, Li Xiangyun continued his journey.

Unbeknownst to him, the Blood Moon began to recede, as if night was approaching.

A flicker of doubt crossed Li Xiangyun’s mind, “Could there also be night in this abyss?”

“But if it’s the Blood Moon during the day, then what should it be at night?”

With this thought, he continued forward, but the strange creatures he encountered along the way not only didn’t attack him, but instead, one by one, they hid underground or in other places.

This made Li Xiangyun even more puzzled, and at the same time, an ominous premonition arose within him.

So, he involuntarily quickened his pace.

Because all those strange creatures were hiding.

Without their obstruction, Li Xiangyun’s speed was undoubtedly much faster.

But the Blood Moon receded even faster.

Before long, the entire land darkened, leaving only faint light.

Li Xiangyun stopped, looked around, and still couldn’t find a place to take shelter.

But the ominous premonition in his heart grew stronger and stronger, as if the Grim Reaper was slowly approaching, about to harvest his life.

Just then, the world suddenly fell into a deathly silence, as if an invisible giant hand had instantly extinguished all light in the world.

Immediately after, a low rumble came from the bottom of the abyss, like the whisper of a Vicious Beast that had been slumbering for eons.

Thick, ink-like black mist slowly rose from the depths of the earth, like evil spirits being released, thread by thread, initially appearing gentle and slow, but in an instant, it transformed into surging waves.

The black mist seemed to carry the wails of countless resentful souls, faintly, intermittently, making one’s hair stand on end.

Wherever the black mist passed, all life was mercilessly stripped away.

The moment the black mist touched the vegetation, it instantly withered and turned into grayish-white debris. The nether beasts flying in the air plunged into the black mist and were never heard from again.

The black mist seemed to be alive, constantly churning and spreading, extending in all directions, layer upon layer, enveloping the entire world, making the night even more eerie and terrifying.

In just a moment, the black mist arrived before him.

“Damn it!”

Li Xiangyun watched this scene and couldn’t help but curse.

Then, he quickly ran in the opposite direction for his life.

But in just a moment, Li Xiangyun was already overtaken by the black mist.

“No way? I’m not going to die like this, am I?”

Li Xiangyun was truly a bit desperate at this moment. The black mist came from all directions, leaving him with no escape route and no way to resist.

Just as the black mist was about to touch him, Li Xiangyun suddenly remembered Cang Lanzi’s words.

With the attitude of trying anything, he took out the nether soul guiding lamp that Cang Lanzi had given him.

At this moment, the surging waves of black mist were only three inches from Li Xiangyun’s throat, and the biting cold had already seeped into his flesh.

Just then, Li Xiangyun suddenly felt a sharp pain in his finger, and a stream of blood flowed into the nether soul guiding lamp through the wound.

In an instant, the runes flowing on the surface of the lamp suddenly burst forth with a dark blue light, like an ancient Vicious Beast awakening and opening its vertical pupils.

“Buzz~”

Accompanied by the clear ringing sound of the nether soul guiding lamp, a three-foot-high nether flame shot up from the wick. As the flames licked, translucent chains condensed, crushing the approaching black mist.

The black mist touched by the ghost fire let out a sharp shriek like a baby crying, transforming into countless distorted black shadows that fled in panic.

This made Li Xiangyun, who had survived the ordeal, breathe a sigh of relief, and then looked at the nether soul guiding lamp in his hand with great surprise.

The originally simple nether soul guiding lamp had undergone a great transformation.

It was now entirely made of translucent glazed material, its body resembling an inverted nether mandala, with layers of petals swirling with a dark blue and deep purple glow, like the surging undercurrents from the depths of the Nine Nethers.

In the center of the lamp bowl, a bean-sized flame floated. The flame was an eerie greenish-white, and on its surface, countless tiny soul phantoms seemed to constantly struggle, twist, and then instantly perish and undergo Rebirth.

It was this flame that had previously dispelled the black mist.

The lamp base was carved from white bones entwined with chains, with dark red blood crystals embedded in the joints, as if sealing countless unwilling souls.

Then, Li Xiangyun curiously shook it, but unexpectedly, the chains emitted faint whimpering sounds, like the whispers of departed souls.

Immediately after, a faint path of ghostly light would project from above the lamp, leading directly into the depths of the darkness.

After a brief moment of contemplation, Li Xiangyun slowly proceeded in the direction indicated by the ghostly light.

Now that the danger was temporarily averted, Li Xiangyun began to ponder.

During the “daytime,” he hadn’t taken out the nether soul guiding lamp to study it.

After all, Cang Lanzi had said that holding the nether soul guiding lamp would prevent him from getting lost in the abyss.

And he indeed needed to use the nether soul guiding lamp to find a safe place.

But the result was that no matter how he used it, it showed no reaction whatsoever.

He even thought that Cang Lanzi was playing a trick on him.

He never expected that this thing would only be useful at “night.”

He just didn’t know if the nether soul guiding lamp had its own consciousness, or if Cang Lanzi was controlling it.

After all, the act of actively piercing his finger to draw blood just now was not something a normal Magic Treasure could do.

As Li Xiangyun pondered and walked, he didn’t expect that at this moment...

A series of shrill cries for help suddenly came from his ear.

“Help me~ Is anyone there?”

The voice was extremely faint amidst the howling of the black mist, but Li Xiangyun still determined that it came from a living person!

This made Li Xiangyun’s expression tighten, and he hesitated whether to go and see.

After all, this abyss was connected to the Land of Nine Nethers, a place where life and death intersected; normal people shouldn’t come here.

However, after a moment of hesitation, Li Xiangyun still decided to go and see.

Of course, the main reason was that the direction from which the sound came was exactly the direction indicated by the nether soul guiding lamp.

Li Xiangyun believed that Cang Lanzi should not harm him.

As Li Xiangyun rushed in the direction of the sound.

On the other side, Tang Fu was desperately holding on in the black mist.

In the black mist, the chubby Tang Fu was covered in blood, and the Black Tortoise Jade Pendant in his arms glowed green, supporting a translucent turtle shell barrier around him.

But as the black mist continuously gnawed at it, the surface of the barrier was already covered with spiderweb-like cracks.

“Help! Help!”

Tang Fu could only shout in despair, his round face stained with blood, tears welling up in his eyes.

But as he shouted, Tang Fu gradually stopped, obviously knowing that in this abyss, especially during the dark night, it was impossible for anyone to appear outside, let alone save him.

At this moment, cracks had spread throughout the entire barrier, and the sound of it being on the verge of shattering came from his ears.

Just as Tang Fu completely despaired, closed his eyes, and prepared to embrace death.

Unexpectedly, at this moment, a “beautiful” voice came from his ear, “Are you the little fatty who was shouting for help?”
