95: Massacre of a village

At the same time, in a small mountain village in the Southern Barbarian Province.

The night was as dark as ink, with scattered starlight.

Yunqi Village, with its green tiles and white walls, was bathed in milky moonlight.

The oil lamp in Wang Ning's house at the west end of the village was still lit, and the silhouette of his mother sewing shoe soles flickered on the window paper.

The rustling sound of a needle piercing through a thousand-layered sole, mixed with the gentle crackling of firewood in the stove, echoed through the quiet mountain village.

Suddenly, Wang Ning's mother stopped what she was doing as if sensing something, looked out the window, and sighed, "I wonder how Ning'er is doing out there. It's been a year, and he hasn't come home to visit."

"Mother, don't worry! My brother is an Immortal who Cultivates. When he returns, he will surely get us a big house and we'll eat meat every meal!"

Wang Ning's younger sister, Wang Yue, lay on the bed, her face full of anticipation as she spoke.

As she spoke, her two fair, tender feet kept swaying back and forth, showing her good mood at the moment.

In fact, although Wang Ning had embarked on Cultivation using the Cultivation Technique passed down from his ancestors,

he feared that the Cultivation Technique would be exposed and attract covetous eyes. Therefore, when he Cultivated at home previously, Wang Ning never revealed that he had Cultivation. Naturally, he couldn't improve his family's life.

After all, when Wang Ning was home, he could deter those with ill intentions, but once he left, it was hard to guarantee that no one would take a desperate risk.

After all, this was Cultivating Immortals!

How many ordinary Mortals could refuse the temptation of Cultivating Immortals?

Even the closest people could turn against each other.

Wang Ning could, of course, use his Cultivation to steal gold and silver from wealthy families and give it to his parents, but the problem was that this small mountain village was only so big.

A sudden improvement in living standards would still easily arouse the suspicion of others.

Therefore, Wang Ning made an agreement with his family that when he returned again, he would take them away from here to enjoy a good life in the city.

And whenever Wang Yue thought of this, she would be happy.

She didn't aspire to embark on Cultivation like her elder brother in this life, nor did she have the talent for it, but she hoped to live the life of a wealthy family, enjoying fine clothes and rich food in the future.

"Oh, you ~" Wang Ning's mother smiled helplessly and scolded, "All day long you only think about being a Young Miss of a wealthy family, and you don't even care about your brother!"

Wang Yue heard this, turned and sat up, giggling, "Mother, it's not that I don't care about my brother, the key is that my concern is useless!"

"You don't want me to have white hair at such a young age, do you?"

Wang Ning's mother poked Wang Yue's forehead and said, "What, you think Mother is old?"

"Mother ~" Wang Yue hugged her mother's arm and whined, "How dare I ~"

Her voice was soft and adorable, and Wang Ning's mother's tone instantly softened significantly, "Alright, move aside, don't bother me!"

"Hehe!"

Hearing this, Wang Yue happily let go of her mother's arm and continued to lie on the bed, wiggling her small feet.

Just then, a group of uninvited guests suddenly arrived at the village entrance.

They wore black robes, and a faint bloody mist emanated from their bodies.

"Kill, leave no one alive!"

As soon as the leading demonic Cultivator's words fell, the other demonic Cultivators had already rushed into the small mountain village.

The first to suffer was a yellow dog; sensing the intruders, it immediately rushed out and barked wildly at the demonic Cultivators.

But it was casually blasted into a pulp by a demonic Cultivator.

Aunt Li's oil lamp went out with a crash. Iron chains pierced through the mud wall, pinning the three people inside to the main beam.

Blood-colored runes spread along the wounds, instantly refining the three corpses into blood beads, which merged into the blood mist swirling in the air.

Uncle Zhang next door heard the commotion, grabbed a cleaver, and rushed out, only to see his thatched cottage explode, his wife and daughter instantly dying tragically, and he himself did not escape the calamity.

At this time, Wang Ning's mother was still sewing shoes. When she realized something was wrong and was about to go out with Wang Ning's father and Wang Yue to check,

it was already too late... The blood mist, like a tide, swept over the entire village. The cries of children, the pleas of women, and the roars of men all succumbed to deathly silence under the engulfment of the blood mist.

When the lights of the last household extinguished, the entire village had transformed into a living hell. Everywhere lay shriveled corpses, scattered haphazardly on the ground, their faces still bearing expressions of terror.

"Retreat!"

Seeing that the mission was completed, the leading demonic Cultivator immediately ordered their departure.

Just then, a baby's cry suddenly came from the outskirts of the eastern village.

Subsequently, a woman holding a swaddled infant crawled out of the cellar, covered in blood but desperately protecting the child in her arms.

"Hehehe, there's still a fish that slipped through the net?" The leading demonic Cultivator let out a strange laugh, and in an instant, several blood-colored chains whistled towards the woman.

Seeing this, the woman could only close her eyes in terror, throwing the child towards the outside of the village, while she herself was instantly torn into a bloody rain.

The baby's cries pierced the night sky but abruptly ceased the moment they touched the blood mist.

Immediately after, the demonic Cultivators left with wild laughter.

As if this massacre was just a game for them.

Meanwhile, in a mountain forest not far from Yunqi Village, Wang Ning was constantly leaping between tree branches.

His movements were graceful and swift; with each leap, he could fly dozens of meters.

"I wonder how Father, Mother, and my little sister are doing?"

A hint of excitement and anticipation flashed in Wang Ning's eyes.

The closer he got to his hometown, the stronger his longing became.

Now his Cultivation had reached the Peak of Qi Condensation, and after several years of venturing out, he had accumulated some Spirit Stones, enough to take his parents to Green Cloud City to live.

Wang Ning still remembered that when he first left home, his little sister was only five years old. Now, several years later, she must have grown into a graceful young woman.

And Father's back, Mother's eyes... Once they moved to the city, they wouldn't have to toil anymore.

Thinking this, Wang Ning's pace quickened even more.

Before long, Wang Ning finally rushed out of the forest and stood on a high vantage point, where he could just see Yunqi Village in the mountain hollow.

At this moment, Yunqi Village was completely dark and silent, causing an ominous premonition to rise in Wang Ning's heart.

Mainly, it was too quiet; normally, even though it was late, there wouldn't be absolutely no light.

At the same time, Wang Ning faintly smelled a scent of blood.

The scent of blood came with the breeze, and its origin was precisely the mountain hollow.

A look of panic appeared on Wang Ning's face, and he immediately rushed towards his home with all his might.

"Father, Mother, little sister, please don't let anything happen to you!"

Before long, Wang Ning arrived at the village entrance. The village was eerily silent, and a very strong smell of blood hung in the air.

Wang Ning's heart instantly sank, and he rushed inside.

What greeted his eyes was silence and many shriveled corpses.

"Uncle Zhao, Aunt Deng..."

Wang Ning looked at the familiar figures, all now dead, and his heart felt as if it had been wrenched.

Then, Wang Ning approached his own doorstep with an uneasy heart.

But looking at the dilapidated wooden door, he couldn't bring himself to open it.

After a moment of hesitation, Wang Ning took a deep breath and finally pushed open the courtyard gate.

But the scene before him made Wang Ning collapse...
