15: Chapter 15 Taking First Place

In the blink of an eye.

Fourth floor, cleared!

Fifth floor, cleared!

Sixth floor, cleared!

...

Jiang Ling advanced almost without any resistance, instantly killing every exotic beast he encountered.

It had to be said, this trial tower was truly useful.

Jiang Ling encountered many exotic beasts here that he had never seen before, fighting them in different environments and accumulating a significant amount of experience.

His Martial Skill and Supernatural Ability also continued to evolve throughout the process of battle.

The outer area of the trial tower.

Quite a few students were discussing their insights while watching the trial tower rankings.

The trials of the trial tower provided data that the officials took very seriously.

If one performed well within the trial tower, they would attract the attention of certain universities, and might even be recruited in advance.

"I'm so unlucky. The third floor actually turned out to be an ocean scene. I get seasick! I ended up dizzy as soon as I got there and was taken out immediately!"

"It has to be said, to clear this trial tower, you don't just need strength; luck is also very important!"

"If the exotic beasts you encounter are ones you're familiar with, the probability of passing is high. If they're ones you've never seen, the probability is low."

"What kind of monsters are those who make it to the teens? That's too perverse!"

"Basically, anyone who can make it past the tenth floor has to be a top student in their school!"

"They must have at least a C-rank talent!"

"Especially those ranked in the top hundred; they're basically guaranteed a spot in a key university!"

"It’s been like that in previous years too!"

"Eh! Isn't that Zhao Gang from our school?"

"He's a Genius who broke into the top ten of the trial rankings for our grade!"

"The Supernatural Ability Zhao Gang awakened is the B-rank Steel Body. His body can turn into steel, making his defense invincible. It's normal for him to be in the top ten of the trial!"

"Let's ask Zhao Gang to come over and share some of his experience!"

"Maybe it could be of some help to us!"

...

A group of students fawned over Zhao Gang, showering him with all sorts of flattery, asking him to talk about his experience in the trial tower.

Zhao Gang hadn't been very prominent in school before, but ever since he awakened a B-rank ability, he immediately became a star figure, sought after wherever he went.

Now that the trial tower trials had opened, he had cleared fourteen floors in one go, ranking tenth on the Yue City high school senior leaderboard, instantly drawing the attention of the entire school.

Every day, he could collect a whole backpack full of love letters.

Today, facing the requests of a bunch of little fans, Zhao Gang wasn't stingy either, sharing all of his experience from clearing fourteen floors.

Of course, it was mixed with a lot of boastful rhetoric.

Just as Zhao Gang was bragging incessantly, a voice suddenly drifted over.

"Huh?"

"The person in tenth place on the leaderboard has changed!"

"Zhao Gang has been knocked down!"

"Where did this new guy come from? Does anyone know?"

...

"What?"

Zhao Gang was in the middle of posturing when he suddenly heard this, and his expression shifted immediately.

Being in the top ten of the trial tower high school senior leaderboard was his greatest honor.

He had actually been pushed out?

He immediately turned his head to look at the screen displaying the rankings.

"Hmm?"

"Jiang Ling!"

When he saw clearly the name that had pushed him out, Zhao Gang's eyes widened instantly.

"How is that possible?"

"Didn't he awaken an F-rank Supernatural Ability?"

"How could he reach tenth place?"

...

Quite a few people at the scene also remembered who Jiang Ling was.

"That illegitimate son of the Jiang Family?"

"The student who used to be the greatest Genius of No. 1 High School!"

"I heard that at the Awakening ceremony, he awakened the F-rank Supernatural Ability, Weak Electricity!"

"How can he still be so powerful?"

"Reasonably speaking, shouldn't he be ruined already?"

"Could it be someone else with the same name?"

"Impossible!"

"There's only one Jiang Ling in No. 1 High School!"

"To be able to break into the top ten of the leaderboard with an F-rank ability, this is truly a Prodigy!"

...

While everyone was in an uproar of shock, the ranking on the leaderboard suddenly changed again.

"Ninth... Jiang Ling has reached ninth..."

"My god, how did he do it?"

"A trash with an F-rank ability reached ninth on the leaderboard?"

...

The already shocked Zhao Gang was even more stunned when he saw this scene.

"This..."

"It shouldn't be possible..."

"How could he possibly do it?"

"Is he cheating?!"

...

The entire lobby of the trial tower became noisy, as countless people looked at the leaderboard and made sounds of disbelief.

Most of them were filled with incredulity, incomprehension, and confusion.

How could a trash with only an F-rank ability possibly break into the top ten of the trial tower?

At that moment, the leaderboard changed once more.

"This... he's in seventh... Jiang Ling is in seventh..."

"He jumped up two places at once..."

...

More and more people crowded over, watching the rapidly changing rankings.

They wanted to see just how far Jiang Ling would go!

And soon, Jiang Ling rose another two places, reaching fifth place.

The rankings on the leaderboard were not only related to the number of floors cleared but also to the speed of clearing and the strength shown during the battle process.

For example, if both had reached the sixteenth floor, but Jiang Ling only took less than a minute while the previous student took an hour, Jiang Ling would naturally have more points and rank higher.

"Fifth place!"

"His clearing speed is too fast!"

"It hasn't even been a minute, and he's already moved on to the next floor?"

"This is too ridiculous!"

"Even Jiang Ting couldn't do this!"

*Hiss!*

"An F-rank ability, yet he can fight all the way to fifth place. He's truly a Prodigy!"

"I wonder if the Jiang Family will regret kicking him out?"

...

Amidst the crowd's discussions, Jiang Ling's rank continued to change rapidly, shifting every few minutes at most.

In the blink of an eye, Jiang Ling had cleared the seventeenth floor and was ranked second, second only to Jiang Ting.

"He's in second. Can he reach first?"

"Can he surpass Jiang Ting?"

"Jiang Ting awakened the SS-rank Supernatural Ability, Archangels Sword!"

...

At some point, the scene fell silent. Everyone held their breath and stared at the screen, waiting for the moment a miracle might happen.

About three minutes later, Jiang Ling's name jumped again, leaping over Jiang Ting to take the first spot.

"First place!"

"Jiang Ling is really in first place!"

"He surpassed Jiang Ting!"

...

The crowd at the scene erupted instantly.

The Jiang Family.

Jiang Haoyan was hosting a grand banquet to celebrate Jiang Ting's great achievement in seizing first place on the trial tower leaderboard.

"This year's provincial top scholar for our Xiangnan Province will surely be Jiang Ting!"

"The Jiang Family has already produced three children with peerless talent, and now there's Jiang Ting. The future is truly limitless!"

"We're truly green with envy!"

...

The guests toasted and flattered, making Jiang Haoyan ecstatic and full of smiles.
