50: The early bird catches the worm.

When Xu Shian went downstairs, Hu Beiyu was already sitting in the lobby having breakfast.

"Up quite early today, huh?"

"I fell asleep as soon as I got back last night, and I woke up at 5:30 this morning..."

Hu Beiyu said with a sigh.

He had always maintained the mindset of a bright and cheerful young man.

He looked like a student who hadn't yet been corrupted by society; he was extremely principled in how he did things and was very punctual!

He was a rare find, perfect material to be a subordinate...

"I only just realized now that it's not that I can't sleep before a certain time, it's just that there are too many temptations and too many things that distract me..."

"That's good. Early to bed and early to rise makes you healthy. Xixi, you need to learn from Beiyu on this point. I called you several times this morning and you still wouldn't get up..."

Hearing her mother's words, An Xixi grumbled with dissatisfaction: "Shian gets up even later, why don't you talk to him?"

Xu Shian, who was burying his head in his food, was stunned.

Wait... how did this get turned on me?

"Besides, you said I was slow, but you insisted that I get ready first before calling him. Is that fair?"

"Shian has to grind his professional skills at night; that's serious work. Can that be compared to your interest in trolling the forums?"

After a pause, Liu Lili asked a soul-searching question.

"Besides, aren't you slow?"

"You..."

Beside them, Xu Shian and Hu Beiyu kept their heads down, eating, suffering from intermittent deafness.

Although their ears were pricked to listen to the mother and daughter bickering, neither had any intention of chiming in.

Liu Lili certainly got up early enough; by the time they were eating, she had already made a list of yesterday's earnings.

After the others looked it over and confirmed there were no issues, she settled the earnings for both of them directly.

Well, including the money Liu Lili just gave him, Xu Shian had a net profit of 23 gold coins for the day after deducting costs!

This profit was mainly because they bought quite a few things, like blueprints and materials, which weren't cheap right now.

However, this brought Xu Shian's total net worth to 58 gold, 23 silver, and 19 copper.

He had even more materials on him!

Actually, materials could be stored in the inn room.

However, they weren't responsible for keeping them safe for you.

In other words, you could put them there, but if they went missing, the shop wouldn't be held responsible!

So, Xu Shian could only calculate the amounts every day, craft most of the materials into finished products, and then toss them into the Auction House.

A few days passed, and he now realized that in this day and age, hoarding anything seemed wrong!

To put it simply, although these gold coins were devaluing every day.

But what was the point of buying these low-level items and hoarding them?

To put it in the simplest terms, as levels increased, how many people would still drink these [Basic Healing Potions]?

Even if there were those so poor they couldn't afford a meal who were still drinking this after leaving the Novice Village, do you really think you could raise the price much?

The same logic applied to ore; it was tasteless to eat but a pity to throw away.

Of course, the main issue was that there was nowhere to put it...

In the Novice Village, there wasn't even a bank to serve as a substitute for a banking system; you had to go to the main city to store things, or at least to a town!

"Sister Lili, when you browse the Auction House later, please help me look out for alchemy blueprints, engineering schematics, and Cooking recipes at reasonable prices and bid on them for me..."

"Sure! No problem. I check the Auction House often after I get back to the village! I'll keep an eye out for you!"

Xu Shian thought for a moment and handed over ten gold coins!

"No need, I have money here. If I manage to buy them, we can just settle the actual costs later..."

"That works too!"

These past few days, one could feel that everyone was improving.

On the first day of the server launch, Liu Lili had even bought Cooking that increased armor, but by now, she was quite familiar with her class and skills.

After walking out of the Novice Village, Xu Shian summoned all of his underlings.

Including Blue Cat and Rainbow Cat!

An Xixi's eyes were glued to the two little ones and couldn't be pulled away.

"You... where did you catch these kittens? How come I've never seen them?"

Xu Shian was also stunned!

Didn't you say you spend every night on the forums?

So you haven't read anything useful at all?

"There's a small path north of the village that leads into the North Mountain Range..."

"Oh..."

An Xixi echoed Xu Shian mechanically, her mind completely off what he was saying.

She just listened while picking up Rainbow Cat and holding it in her arms, laughing.

Xu Shian expressed his genuine envy and wished he could take its place.

Unfortunately, he hadn't learned any skills like possessing pets, otherwise, he would definitely have cast it right now!

Feeling energetic, and with everyone having eaten their fill, they simply jogged all the way to the Gray Wolf Plains.

After having cooperated with all their might for an afternoon yesterday, by today, the coordination among the group was much more tacit!

In the gaps while Hu Beiyu went to pull monsters, Xu Shian carefully examined the surrounding terrain.

The group's current position was past the Wild Boar Forest, standing on the territory of the Gray Wolf Plains.

After leaving the Novice Village, everyone had been heading east.

And that woodland at the edge of the view to the north was the habitat of the legendary Black Iron BOSS, the Wild Boar King.

It was still quite a distance away, and if players didn't deliberately seek it out, it was very difficult to pass by that location.

Currently, Xu Shian was confident that he should be in the first tier of the level rankings.

Right now, there were surely players curious enough to go see the Wild Boar King, but for the time being, no players could possibly have designs on the Wild Boar King!

After all, with its attack and defense, unless everyone was level seven or eight, hitting it was just like scraping it...

The problem was that a Novice Village only had ten thousand players, excluding those who were older and unwilling to participate in the hassle...

There were probably only about half the people left. Then, if you excluded those who had grudges, couldn't stand seeing others do well, or opposed things just for the sake of opposing...

It was over; the remaining people who could potentially be mobilized to fight the BOSS were even fewer!

If you relied only on the tiny bit of forced damage, you couldn't kill the BOSS at all; this thing also had an automatic health regeneration feature!

1% health regeneration per second meant that since the Wild Boar King had 60,000 HP, you only had a possibility of killing this BOSS if you reached a DPS of over 600...

Therefore, if you wanted to take down the BOSS, considering the reality of 12315 Newbie Village, you needed at least level seven!

These next few days were Xu Shian's opportunity!

He could think of a way to try to contract the Wild Boar King...

"What are you spacing out for? The gray wolves are coming..."

Not far away, there was a dull boom.

Hu Beiyu threw a grenade at the gray wolves behind him nearby...

Affected by the [Paralysis] effect, the gray wolves, which were originally swift, all started to stumble.

An Xixi was the second batter; a grenade exploded in the wolf pack, and two gray wolves that hadn't been affected rushed out, attempting to do something, but they were stunned on the spot by the Charge from Xu Shian's subordinates, Beautiful Sheep and Happy Sheep!

The two mountain cats rushed up and began clawing at the gray wolves' butts.

"Rainbow Cat, go! Quickly use Bite and Claw Strike, attack its lower body..."

Liu Lili slapped An Xixi on the head, her eyes flashing with murderous intent!

Xu Shian, standing to the side, also had a confused expression!

When I make this expression, if it's not that I have a problem, then it must be that you have a problem...

Ignoring her, he cooperated with the others to throw grenades and kill this group of gray wolves.

[Ding, congratulations to your team for killing the level 6 monster 'Gray Wolf', talent 'Whats Wrong With Me Slacking Off??' triggered, gained EXP +12, extra lifespan +6 days]

[Ding, congratulations to your team for killing the level 8 monster 'Gray Wolf', killed monster 4 levels higher, gained extra bonus, talent 'Whats Wrong With Me Slacking Off??' triggered, gained EXP +20, extra lifespan +10 days]

...

With the wolf pack dead, Xu Shian immediately turned his gun, and an Arcane Shot was fired at the two stray wolves that had left the group!

"Xixi, can you be more focused when fighting monsters?"

Before Xu Shian could speak, Liu Lili, with a stern face, scolded An Xixi!

Liu Lili was so angry!

Saying you're young, you're already twenty-two.

Saying you're an adult? You're acting impossibly childish day after day...

I didn't notice you had this problem back on Blue Star, did I? Did you forget to bring your brain when everyone transmigrated?

Forty-two notification sounds rang in his ears one after another; Xu Shian scanned them briefly and didn't pay too much attention.

Because both of his level 1 kittens had leveled up!
