107: Sending heads thousands of miles away

Li Fu grew anxious upon hearing they were going to the back mountain.

The back mountain was where Lord Chuping’s Shrine was located.

These people had already committed a great sin by disrespecting Lord Chuping with their words; how could they now go to the temple and cause trouble?!

“No, Your Excellency, you cannot go there!”

“Your Excellency, if you want to pass, you’ll have to step over this old man’s corpse.”

Li Fu, in his anxiety, rushed forward to block them, unconcerned about the consequences.

Seeing his actions, the young men hiding in the shadows all emerged, holding Sharp Weapons, and stood in front of the women and children.

Liu Chunsheng and Shen Jianxing walked to Li Fu’s side, one on his left and one on his right, looking at Wang Chongfa with ill intent.

For devout followers, the deity they believe in is the entire meaning of their lives.

Insulting their deity in front of followers is tantamount to trampling their dignity and faith underfoot.

Wang Chongfa had clearly incurred the wrath of the crowd.

Wang Chongfa narrowed his eyes, and his horsewhip cracked on the ground in front of Li Fu’s feet, kicking up a puff of dust.

“Old man, dare to block an imperial official? Are you tired of living?!”

“Don’t tell me you think I’m afraid just because there are many of you!”

“I can kill all you commoners and still complete my mission.”

Li Fu’s hunched back was now ramrod straight, and his wrinkled face showed no fear.

“Your Excellency, the back mountain is Lord Chuping’s place of cultivation and must not be desecrated.”

“Hmph!”

Wang Chongfa sneered, suddenly drawing the golden saber from his waist and pointing its tip directly at Li Fu’s throat. “I’ll say it one last time: move aside!”

The air instantly solidified.

The villagers gripped their farm tools tightly, their knuckles white.

“Your Excellency, I am the Temple Official personally appointed by Lord Chuping. If Your Excellency has any instructions, perhaps you could tell me first.”

“Why cause ill will?”

Liu Chunsheng suddenly spoke, his spiritual power condensing at his fingertips, and he struck directly, causing Wang Chongfa’s saber to shatter inch by inch.

Wang Chongfa seemed to be stunned by this sudden change. After some investigation, he discovered that most of the villagers in front of him were actually Martial Artists.

Their ranks were not high, but their numbers were indeed considerable.

However, this level of strength was not enough to make him retreat.

“Two Fourth-Rank, eighteen Third-Rank, and some completely unranked Second-Rank. Is this all your strength?”

Wang Chongfa sneered, raising his hand to signal the three Black Armor Guards behind him to step forward.

The strength of these three Black Armor Guards was clearly higher than Wang Chongfa’s. Merely releasing their Aura made Liu Chunsheng feel it difficult to even stand.

Shen Jianhong immediately stepped forward and helped Shen Jianxing, who was about to faint, upright.

“You’re courting death!”

“You refuse a toast and prefer a forfeit.”

Cold sweat seeped from Liu Chunsheng’s forehead, his legs heavy as if filled with lead.

Shen Jianxing gritted his teeth, supporting himself, blood already seeping from the corners of his mouth.

The villagers swayed precariously, several of the weaker ones directly fainting.

As the two sides faced off, the white Fox Immortal suddenly rushed out of the crowd impatiently, heading straight for the temple halfway up the mountain.

It had already smelled it—there was something good there.

It was something good enough to allow him to truly achieve Immortal Ascension!

That Aura was both terrifying, like heavenly thunder, and tempting, like a Golden Core, driving him mad.

“Lord Fox Immortal!”

“Your Excellency!”

As the white Fox Immortal moved, Wang Chongfa had no time to concern himself with the villagers. The Fox Immortal’s life was far more valuable than his own.

If anything went wrong, he might as well not live.

The Black Armor Guards directly pushed through the crowd, rushing up the mountain without a second thought.

Liu Chunsheng and the others quickly got up from the ground to pursue.

* * *

The white Fox Immortal’s figure darted through the forest. The closer it got to the mountaintop, the more its fur stood on end, as if sensing something that both terrified and desired it.

“Your Excellency, there’s a temple ahead!”

“The Lord Fox Immortal has already gone inside!”

The deputy general shouted, pointing at the small temple dimly visible in the mist.

Wang Chongfa narrowed his eyes and indeed saw a small temple with green tiles and red walls standing on the mountaintop.

Though not large, the temple exuded an indescribable solemnity.

Even stranger, while the foot of the mountain was shrouded in dark clouds, a beam of sunlight pierced through the clouds directly above the temple, enveloping the entire structure, as if a divine miracle.

“Playing tricks!”

Wang Chongfa snorted coldly, dismounted, and said, “Surround this place! I’ll go inside and take a look.”

“Your Excellency, there’s something strange about this temple.”

The deputy general whispered, “Should we send a few brothers in to scout first?”

Before Wang Chongfa could reply, the temple gate creaked open by itself.

A clear scent of incense wafted out, instantly clearing one’s mind.

As Wang Chongfa stepped three paces into the temple gate, he suddenly felt a weight on his shoulder.

The Lord Fox Immortal had, at some point, squatted back on his shoulder, its fur bristling, its sharp claws deeply embedded in the crevices of his armor.

“Lord Fox Immortal?”

Wang Chongfa winced in pain but dared not move rashly.

The white Fox Immortal’s emerald eyes were fixed on the Shrine.

Three feet above the altar, a swirling mass of purple Qi floated, with faint electric sparks visible within.

This purple Qi slowly rotated like a living thing, and each surge caused the white Fox Immortal’s claws to tighten a notch, stirring an indescribable yearning in its heart.

“Lord Fox Immortal, do you want that Shrine? I’ll get it for you right away.”

After saying this, Wang Chongfa walked step by step towards the Shrine on the table.

He completely failed to notice that the Qi of the white Fox Immortal on his shoulder had suddenly weakened, and it now wished it could shrink into a ball.

Ignorance is bliss.

In a place Wang Chongfa could not see, Lin Chuping stood quietly above the Shrine, merged with the purple Qi, watching their every move with a smile.

A smile does not necessarily imply benevolence.

This was precisely how the white Fox Immortal felt at that moment. All its fur stood on end from fear, as if sounding an alarm, telling it that danger was all around.

However, despite its heart being filled with terror, its body was completely disobedient, as if bound by an invisible force, unable to move a single inch.

The white Fox Immortal could only watch helplessly as Wang Chongfa carried it, little by little, closer to the other party. As the distance shortened, the shadow of death gradually enveloped it.

I’m going to die, I’m going to die!

Idiot! What the hell!

The white Fox Immortal cursed frantically in its heart. In a daze, the figure before it gradually transformed into a gaping, bloody maw, and it was a piece of fatty meat, currently drilling itself into that bloody maw.

Since this figure appeared in the Lord Chu Ping Temple, then the figure before him must be Lord Chuping.

This Lord Chuping, whether a deity or not, had strength superior to his own.

He actually dared to covet his Shrine. He felt sorry for his ignorant self.

A thousand li to deliver his own head!

Just as the white Fox Immortal was on the verge of suffocating with despair, Wang Chongfa’s fingers were about to touch the edge of the Shrine when he suddenly collapsed as if struck by lightning.

The white Fox Immortal let out a piercing shriek, its fur standing on end.

In an instant, its entire body turned scorched black, transforming into a charred Fox Immortal with a rich aroma of cooked meat.
