202: The more you know, the more desperate you become.

Hearing Hu Jiutian's guess, Lin Hu's brow furrowed even deeper.

Good news: Everyone's guesses are pretty similar, meaning they are one step closer to the truth.

Bad news: The enemy in the shadows is terrifyingly powerful; with just a slight move from them, the few of them had to hold a meeting all night, and still couldn't come up with a solution.

'This really is... the more you know, the more desperate you become; the deeper you get into the world, the colder your heart grows.'

Lin Hu sighed silently in his heart and turned to look at the expressions of these old guys.

Although he had claimed the identity of a Reincarnation of the Holy Lord for himself, he was still lacking in experience, strength, and other aspects.

Perhaps... these old guys... should... might have a way?

As soon as Lin Hu turned around, he saw the three Elders of the White Tiger Clan staring at him without blinking, as if they wanted to bore a hole through him.

Even Hu Jiutian was staring at him with anticipation, her eyes like autumn waters, her gaze like autumn waves~

It made him feel hot all over.

"Cough cough! Why are you all staring at me?"

Bai Lie slammed the stone table.

"Who else would we stare at if not you?! This wretched night erosion mark, Night Lord, it doesn't sound like something that should exist in our realm! Lord Lin Hu, you are the Holy Lord's Emissary in the Monster Realm, you must make a decision!"

Bai Lie's voice was loud and clear, carrying the Tiger Clan's characteristic impatience and a natural sense of reliance.

Even the usually steady Grand Elder Bai Xuan stroked his snow-white long beard, the glint in his old eyes mixed with worry.

"Lord Lin Hu, has the Holy Lord ever sent down a divine oracle, guiding us on how to deal with such an evil entity?

Bai Yan didn't speak, but his sharp tiger eyes were locked on Lin Hu, as if he wanted to dig out traces of a divine oracle from his face.

The pressure instantly fell upon Lin Hu.

He showed no emotion on his face, but inwardly, he felt as if he was being roasted over a fire.

'A decision? A divine oracle?'

Lin Hu's heart churned, and he almost let out a bitter laugh.

'I've only been on the job as this "Holy Lord" for a few days! Lord Chuping himself probably doesn't even know how to write the three characters "night erosion mark"!'

What to do now?

Lin Hu's gaze swept over the expectant (or rather, pressured) faces of the three Elders, finally landing on Hu Jiutian.

This vixen!

She didn't look like a good person at first glance.

She, however, didn't press him like the White Tiger Elders, but instead lowered her head slightly, revealing a swan-like, snow-white neck. Her nine fluffy fox tails were neatly gathered behind her, presenting an image of "I am weak, pitiful, and helpless, all decisions rest with you, my Lord."

But where was the slightest bit of her previous enchanting allure in those captivating, soul-snatching eyes?

At this moment, they were crystal clear, filled with the sincerity and trust of "the hopes of the entire village are placed upon you, my Lord," and even a hint of imperceptible scrutiny.

'Acting! She's really f*cking good at acting!'

An alarm blared in Lin Hu's heart.

Hu Jiutian was definitely doing this on purpose!

She had thrown out the hot potato of "night erosion mark" and "Night Lord," and now she was adopting this posture, clearly guiding all the pressure precisely onto him, the "Reincarnation of the Holy Lord."

What did she want to test?

To test whether Lord Chuping was truly omniscient and omnipotent?

Or to test the quality of him, this "Holy Lord"?

The greater the pressure, the more one must remain steady.

The alarm bells in Lin Hu's heart rang wildly, but his face was as calm as an ancient, deep well, without a ripple.

Hu Jiutian's seemingly clear and innocent, yet subtly scrutinizing, seductive eyes, and the Elders' burning, pressing gazes, were like invisible needles, pricking his spine until it tingled.

Lin Hu forcibly suppressed the stormy waves in his heart, firmly holding down the scorching sensation of being roasted over a fire.

He slightly raised his head, his gaze calmly sweeping over Bai Lie, Bai Xuan, and Bai Yan, finally slowly settling on Hu Jiutian's lowered yet undeniably probing profile.

An invisible Aura subtly diffused from his body.

It wasn't the coercion of power, but rather an extreme calmness and sense of control, as if everything was within his expectations.

"A decision?"

Lin Hu's voice was not loud, but it clearly overshadowed the crackling of the lamps in the stone chamber.

"Elder Bai Lie, please calm down. A divine oracle... how can it be easily obtained?"

He deliberately paused, his gaze as deep as the night, looking at the flickering bronze lamp flames, as if staring into an unknowable future.

"The Holy Lord's presence in the world has its profound meaning. Heavenly secrets are like mist, difficult to fully perceive. 'night erosion mark', 'Night Lord'... these names themselves reveal their essence - erosion like night, silent and unseen, seeking to devour the light of heaven and earth."

"An enemy from outside the domain, powerful and terrifying, this is a shared understanding."

Lin Hu's voice carried a hint of solemnity.

"They can easily disturb our realm, making us feel as if we face a great enemy, unable to sleep. Their treacherous methods and unfathomable power need no further elaboration. Knowing more indeed makes one's heart grow cold."

"However, Fellow Daoist Jiuyao, since you can recognize this 'night erosion mark' and speak the name of the 'Night Lord,' you must not be entirely ignorant of it, right? From where did you glimpse such a secret?"

The pressure was instantly pushed back, skillfully and forcefully!

This was both a counterattack and a test - you want to test my depth, and I, too, want to probe your Foundation.

Hu Jiutian evidently hadn't expected Lin Hu to so directly turn thespearhead towards her. A fleeting trace of astonishment flashed in her autumn water-like eyes, which was immediately covered by a gentle smile.

She parted her red lips, her voice still melodious, but with a little less of her previous softness.

"Lord Lin Hu is discerning. This secret, I also stumbled upon by Opportunity, glimpsing fragmented records on a dilapidated mural in an ancient Yao ruin. The mural is ancient and blurry, with only the 'night erosion' mark and the name 'Night Lord' remaining; its specific meaning is also vague. What I just said was merely a bold guess, combining it with the current anomalies. Compared to you, my Lord, as the Holy Lord's Emissary, destined by heaven, my meager knowledge is but a firefly compared to the bright moon."

Hu Jiutian's answer was watertight, attributing the source of the information to a vague "ancient mural."

At the same time, she once again firmly placed the high hat of "Holy Lord" on Lin Hu's head, her words full of flattery, yet subtly sharp.

'Old fox.'

Lin Hu sneered inwardly.

Washing her hands clean, and still putting me on the spot!

But Lin Hu showed no emotion on his face; instead, he revealed a profound and knowing expression.

"Ancient Yao ruin... so that's it. The world is vast, with remnants from ancient times, so it's reasonable."

He no longer delved deeper, as if he had accepted the explanation, and his gaze returned to the three Elders.

"Elders, with a powerful enemy before us, panic is useless. Although the Holy Lord has not sent down a specific divine oracle pointing to this entity, 'upholding righteousness, dispelling evil, and protecting this realm' is the fundamental will of the Holy Lord. The enemy is in the dark, we are in the light; the enemy seeks to disrupt us, so we must remain calm."
