82: Divine power out of control

Just as Lin Chuping was about to exchange Divine Power to continue Cultivating, a soft, choked sob suddenly came from his feet.

The crying was as fine as a wisp of silk, softly coiling around his ears, like willow branches soaked by spring rain, or spider silk swaying in the wind, carrying a touch of mournful tremor.

It was like someone was singing about a young widow visiting a grave right by your ear.

"Ying ying ying ~"

"Ying ying ying wu ~"

Lin Chuping's heart suddenly trembled, almost mistakenly thinking it was a wronged spirit coming to complain.

Such a plaintive, melancholic, and tearful tone—if it weren't for an old ghost who had drifted on the Road to the Underworld for a hundred years, they probably couldn't cry with such intricate and pitiful charm.

Tsk, just listening to it sent shivers down one's neck.

He looked down suspiciously, only to see the Little Green Snake pitifully hooking the hem of the god statue's robe with the tip of its tail, the entire snake collapsing weakly beneath the divine seat.

Its scales, once as lustrous and translucent as jade, were now covered in dirty mud, looking particularly disheveled.

"Little Green Snake? Is that you?!"

Lin Chuping raised an eyebrow.

"Have you refined your horizontal bone?"

Then he couldn't help but laugh: "Who taught you that mournful tune? Did you often go to the mass grave to listen to songs?"

He formed a hand seal and chanted a spell, and a golden glow appeared in the statue's palm, lifting the Little Green Snake before him.

"Thanks to the protection of the Divine Spirit, I can now speak human words."

The Little Green Snake wagged its head ingratiatingly, then timidly added: "This voice… is it not appropriate?"

Lin Chuping raised his eyebrows again, responding with a half-smile.

"Appropriate! You should keep crying like that from now on; I guarantee everyone who hears it will be extremely excited."

They'd probably be so excited they couldn't sleep, wishing they could find a sack, thoroughly bag it, and give it a good beating to vent their anger and find peace.

The Little Green Snake, however, was completely unaware of anything amiss in his words; since the Divine Spirit himself said it was appropriate, then it must be perfectly fine, without any flaw.

"Divine Spirit, I came late at night to ask for your help!"

"The four of us have been held hostage by Blood Fiend; he wants us to lure the Human Race in the village out, and if we can't, he'll eat us!"

"You can directly hide in the village for refuge."

Lin Chuping said indifferently.

After all, they were his followers; though a bit ugly, a bit weak in strength, and not very intelligent or emotionally astute, putting those aside, they were still quite useful.

Ever since Lin Chuping reflected on himself last time and realized he always unconsciously favored the Human Race, he had been consciously trying to change this.

However, he naturally couldn't overcorrect and lose his sense of proportion.

So far, all the Temple Officials he had chosen for his temple were Human Race, but his relationship with the Yao Race seemed to be a purelyEmployment relationship.

Perhaps, he should build more temples in the future?

Build temples in desolate mountains, barren lands, and sparsely populated areas.

Cast a wide net, catch many fish, and choose the best from them.

The more he thought about it, the more reasonable Lin Chuping found it; everything was for the Incense Luck!

"Divine Spirit, we have received your grace, so of course, we cannot only think of our own safety."

"Now that your territory is surrounded, we discussed acting as your inside agents; then, with us on the inside and you on the outside, a mere Blood Fiend will surely be no match."

Although he didn't know how much truth was in the Little Green Snake's words, Lin Chuping still felt a warmth in his heart.

"It's just that plans can't keep up with changes."

"That old demon Blood Fiend sent Blood Bats and Shadow Spiders to watch us! The Shadow Spider has eight compound eyes, and the Blood Bat is even more elusive!"

"We're helpless now."

After speaking, the Little Green Snake reverted to its listless, dejected appearance.

Having followed the Divine Spirit for so long, its strength was still the weakest, and today, in front of Blood Fiend, it was so suppressed it couldn't even lift its head; it was truly too weak.

How could it make the Rat Spirit listen to it in the future, and how could it be the first Yao under the Divine Spirit?

Compared to the Little Green Snake, Lin Chuping's thoughts were much simpler.

As the saying goes, one force can overcome ten skills.

In his jurisdiction, no demons, ghosts, or conspiracies were of any use.

No matter how much you scheme, a bolt of heavenly lightning would bring about the final reckoning.

Luck cannot be deceived.

Therefore, seizing every moment to Cultivate and expand his jurisdiction was the top priority.

Even so, one still had to consider the feelings of one's subordinates to some extent.

Lin Chuping's slender fingertips gently tapped the base of the god statue, and the crisp sound of jade clashing echoed leisurely in the quiet temple.

His gaze lowered slightly, looking at the Little Green Snake's drooping, dispirited appearance, and he suddenly chuckled: "What? Scared witless by Blood Fiend?"

"N-no!"

The Little Green Snake suddenly lifted its head, its emerald scales gleaming faintly in the candlelight, "I just… just…"

"Just feel too weak?" Lin Chuping stated, hitting the nail on the head.

The Little Green Snake immediately deflated like a punctured balloon, slumping down softly again, its tail tip unconsciously drawing circles on the ground.

Golden light gathered at Lin Chuping's fingertips, and four jade talismans appeared out of thin air.

Mysterious patterns flowed across the talismans' surfaces, glowing with a warm luster in the candlelight.

"Look up."

He said indifferently.

The Little Green Snake looked up blankly, only to see one of the jade talismans float down lightly, and the moment it touched its scales, it transformed into a stream of light and seeped into its body.

It only felt its whole body lighten, as if warm spring water was seeping from its bone seams, and even the edges of its scales glowed with a faint golden light.

"This… what is this?"

"An Amulet."

Lin Chuping flicked his finger, and the remaining three jade talismans flew away, "Rat Spirit and the others also have a share."

The moment the jade talisman entered its body, the Little Green Snake understood its purpose.

Its eyes gradually changed from dullness to frenzy.

An Amulet!

It even had a counterattack effect.

With this, even Blood Bat and Shadow Spider, it could handle.

After the Little Green Snake left, Lin Chuping continued to allocate part of his energy to observe the situation in his jurisdiction, then resumed Cultivating.

Silence returned to the temple, and Lin Chuping sat cross-legged before the god statue, forming hand seals.

Divine Power surged into his body like a tide, and Lin Chuping felt his entire body swell with unbearable pain.

He gritted his teeth, still insisting on circulating the Cultivation Technique, guiding this vast power to cycle within his body.

If he weren't a soul body, Lin Chuping would definitely be drenched in sweat by now.

"Something's wrong…"

Lin Chuping frowned deeply; he had clearly only exchanged 500 points of Divine Power, but the power surging within his body far exceeded expectations.

The Divine Power flowing in his Meridians was like a wild horse, completely out of control, crashing around recklessly.

[Warning! Detecting abnormal Divine Power fluctuations!]

The System's cold voice rang in his mind.

Before Lin Chuping could react, a tearing pain suddenly exploded from between his eyebrows, as if someone had directly stabbed his brain with a red-hot iron poker.

He groaned, his body uncontrollably tilting forward, his hands clutching his head tightly.

"Ugh ah—"

Pain! This was an unimaginable, bone-deep agony!

Lin Chuping's vision was a bloody red, as if thousands of steel needles were simultaneously piercing every inch of his nerves.

His consciousness became fragmented in the intense pain, only vaguely feeling himself curled up on the ground, emitting low groans like a wounded beast.

The candles in the temple flickered without wind, swaying erratically.

The Divine Power was completely out of control!

He hadn't expected Cultivating to be so dangerous! Lin Chuping gritted his teeth, wanting to rein in the runaway Divine Power, but always felt something was missing, unable to find the method.

[Tong Ge, help!]

[Tong Ge, a Jianghu emergency!]
