Chapter 274 Brothers Turn Against Each Other

The blade met the sword, and Jiang Yuheng's longsword snapped in response.

The broken half of the blade spun into the darkness, emitting a crisp clatter.

Jiang Yuheng froze, looking down at the broken sword in his hand, then looked up at Chen Mu. A fierce glint suddenly erupted in his eyes, and he seemed ignited by something, emitting a beast-like roar.

"Chen Mu!"

He threw away the broken sword and lunged bare-handed, his five fingers curled into claws, striking straight for Chen Mu's throat.

Chen Mu furrowed his brows. Had this man gone mad?

He sidestepped to avoid it and followed through with a slash of the soul-slaying blade. The blade grazed Jiang Yuheng's waist. Jiang Yuheng let out a muffled groan, but as if oblivious to the pain, he turned and lunged again, his claws hooked, aiming straight for Chen Mu's face.

Chen Mu did not retreat again.

The soul-slaying blade thrust forward, piercing through Jiang Yuheng's chest and protruding from his back. Jiang Yuheng's movements came to an abrupt halt.

He lowered his head, looking at the blade wound on his chest. Blood gushed from the wound, staining his clothes red, dripping onto the ground, drop by drop.

He raised his head to look at Chen Mu and opened his mouth as if to say something, but a mouthful of blood foam surged from his throat before he collapsed.

With a dull thud, he struck the stone floor of the temple, kicking up a cloud of dust.

Yet those eyes remained open. The blood-red hue had faded, revealing his original pitch-black pupils, which reflected the statue tightly wrapped in red cloth.

Chen Mu sheathed the soul-slaying blade and looked down at Jiang Yuheng's corpse, his brows tightly locked.

He had killed him.

He had finally killed him.

Although this person was detestable, his crimes did not warrant death, but in that situation, if he hadn't killed Jiang Yuheng, Jiang Yuheng would have killed him.

Every strike had been fatal, leaving no room for mercy; he had no choice.

It was just that...

"Chen Mu!"

Ling Xiaoning's booming voice suddenly exploded, interrupting Chen Mu's thoughts.

"Well killed! This bastard should have died long ago!"

Ling Xiaoning cheered loudly while hugging Zhuifeng and moving toward Chen Mu. The bruises on his face were distorted by his smile, the corners of his mouth stretching to his ears, but his eyes were frighteningly bright.

"You don't know how arrogant he was just now. He grabbed Zhuifeng and left; I couldn't stop him. Now it's good, he's dead, right? Serves him right!"

As he spoke, he shoved Zhuifeng into Chen Mu's arms.

"Quick, check on Zhuifeng. He was choked by him earlier to the point of almost losing his breath..."

Chen Mu subconsciously reached out to take the animal.

The moment his fingertips touched Zhuifeng's fur, the little black dog suddenly turned its head. Its eyes, which usually held a golden luster, were now blazing with an intensely blinding golden light.

In the next moment, a sudden turn of events occurred!

The little black dog, which had been docile and had lived with him for months, suddenly opened its mouth, revealing a full set of sharp fangs, and bit Chen Mu's right hand hard!

"Zhuifeng?!"

Chen Mu's pupils contracted sharply. He instinctively tried to pull his hand away, but the dog bit down with a death grip. The fangs had pierced deep into his flesh, causing him to knit his brows in pain. He looked down and met those eyes.

Those eyes, which usually held a golden luster and were full of spirit, were now entirely blood-red, filled with a crazed, ferocious glint.

"Chen Mu?"

Ling Xiaoning's voice sounded, filled with a hint of worry.

"What's wrong with you? Zhuifeng bit you! This little thing, why is it biting people?"

He said this and reached out to pry open Zhuifeng's mouth, but Zhuifeng bit down tightly and wouldn't budge.

Chen Mu's thoughts raced. Just as he was about to speak, a cold light headed straight for his heart.

Chen Mu cursed inwardly and dodged to the side. The dagger grazed his chest, tearing a gash. Blood seeped out, burning with pain.

The one holding the dagger was Ling Xiaoning.

That face, still wearing a smile, was now completely twisted in a bizarre way. His eyes had turned into vertical slits at some point, glowing blood-red in the dim candlelight.

"Ling Xiaoning!"

Chen Mu shouted sharply, his left hand reaching to draw the soul-slaying blade. At that moment, the sound of wind arose behind him. He didn't have time to look back and could only rely on instinct to dodge sideways. Qi Huan's blade brushed past his back, slicing off a piece of his clothing.

Attacked from front and back.

Chen Mu wanted to draw his blade, but his right hand was bitten tightly by Zhuifeng and couldn't break free. The little black dog was acting like it had gone mad, sinking its teeth deeper. More and more blood flowed, and Chen Mu could even feel his bones creaking from the bite.

He could only fight with his left hand now.

Ling Xiaoning's dagger struck, fast and ruthless. Every strike aimed for a vital point, and Qi Huan's blade also attacked from behind, sealing off all his retreat paths.

Chen Mu pushed his Divine Void Step to the limit, his figure dodging and weaving within a small space, narrowly avoiding one strike after another. But with his right hand restrained and his left hand's combat effectiveness greatly reduced, he could only barely parry and had no power to counterattack.

Fresh blood flowed down his arm, dripping onto the ground with a faint ticking sound.

Just at this moment, a gust of wind suddenly struck from behind.

Chen Mu had no time to dodge and could only tilt his body slightly. A broken sword pierced in from behind, penetrating his waist and protruding from his front.

It was Jiang Yuheng.

The man who had already died was now standing behind Chen Mu, holding the broken sword, his eyes blood-red, a bizarre smile hanging on his lips.

Chen Mu looked down at the sword tip protruding from his body. Blood gushed from the wound, staining his clothes and the ground red.

He finally couldn't hold on any longer and knelt on one knee.

"Pfft!"

A mouthful of blood sprayed out, splattering onto the stone floor, a shocking sight.

Chen Mu raised his head to look at the three figures in front of him.

Ling Xiaoning, Qi Huan, and Jiang Yuheng.

And that little black dog, Zhuifeng, which was still biting his right hand without letting go.

They approached step by step, surrounding him. The three pairs of eyes looked down at him, devoid of their usual warmth, filled only with coldness and mockery.

Chen Mu opened his mouth to say something, but only blood foam welled up in his throat.

Ling Xiaoning suddenly laughed.

The laughter was sharp and piercing, echoing in the empty temple, carrying an indescribable eeriness.

Amidst the laughter, his face began to distort.

Skin wrinkled, fur sprouted, features shifted, and finally, it turned into a cat's face.

Pointed ears, vertical pupils, the corners of his mouth stretched to his ears, revealing a full set of sharp fangs.

Qi Huan changed too.

The same process, the same cat face, the same sharp fangs.

And that little black dog finally released his right hand. Its body began to swell, the fur faded, revealing the grayish-brown fur underneath.

The dog face twisted, and finally, it turned into a small cat demon cub, baring its teeth at him and emitting a sharp hiss.

Cat demons, they were all cat demons.

At the same time, Jiang Yuheng also changed his appearance. His pointed ears stood up, but behind him trailed five fiery-red tails.

"Chen Mu, do you still remember Sangye Village? Do you still remember my Beimang clan?"

Chen Mu's mouth filled with blood foam, and he said nothing.

The fox demon smiled, his voice sharp and piercing.

"You killed my Beimang clansmen and slaughtered my brothers and sisters. Did you really think this matter would just pass like that?"

The three cat demons also laughed wildly in unison.

"The Old Ancestor's spirit in heaven has allowed us to finally wait for this day. Today, we have finally avenged the Old Ancestor!"
