37: A gifted boy? A dead soul!

“So you’re Jiangcheng’s number one genius, huh?”

“Die for me!”

Accompanying Lu Ming’s low shout, Xie Jinyu’s body trembled violently. He looked as if all strength had been drained from him, and the spiritual energy spear behind him suddenly shattered.

He knelt powerlessly on the ground, his face filled with horror as he watched Lu Ming’s blade descend.

Pfft!

His body was directly split in half.

Hot blood splattered on his face, and Chen Ziliang snapped out of his daze.

His mouth hung open, his face filled with shock as he stared at Lu Ming’s figure.

Damn it!

What the hell happened? Xie Jinyu was fighting, and then he just knelt down!

Lu Ming flicked the blood from his blade. He lowered his gaze to the dumbfounded Chen Ziliang, a slight smile playing on his lips.

“Ziliang, what did you just say? I didn’t hear it very clearly.”

Chen Ziliang glanced at the utterly dead Xie Jinyu, feeling a lump in his throat.

Crap!

Didn’t they say he was invincible within the Fourth Realm?

After his initial shock, Chen Ziliang was overcome with ecstasy: “N-nothing, Brother Lu, well killed!”

He had bet correctly!

Oh heavens, from now on, you are my lord again.

Finally, I’ve met a true powerhouse.

Lu Ming also smiled with relief, a hint of fortune flashing in his eyes.

Indeed, there was an insurmountable chasm between the Second and Third Realms.

If Xie Jinyu had gone for the kill from the start, he would have only been able to flee.

If anyone was to blame, it was this kid for being too arrogant.

In a life-and-death struggle, he still couldn't resist showing off.

The most crucial part was that his casting wind-up was too long.

This gave him the opportunity to unleash the Execution Mark.

This ability, which ignored levels and defenses, was simply too overpowered.

Once marked with the Execution Mark, death was certain, without even a chance to resist.

Three-star Execution was specifically designed to counter these show-offs who loved long casting wind-ups.

On the other side of the ruins, the members of the Jiangcheng Night Watch Division swallowed hard after witnessing the tragic death of the arrogant Xie Jinyu.

“Xie Jinyu... is dead!”

“Xie Jinyu, who was said to be invincible below the Fourth Realm, is dead!”

They knew best how strong Xie Jinyu was.

He alone could suppress all the Night Watchers of Jiangcheng, leaving them breathless.

But now, he had actually died under the blade of an unfamiliar young man!

“Who is this person? Why have I never heard of him before?”

“The one behind him wearing black-rimmed glasses is Chen Ziliang, a new assistant in the Logistics Department!”

A Night Watcher recognized Chen Ziliang, and the tense nerves of the others suddenly relaxed.

Great, he’s one of us, we’re saved!

But the next scene made their hearts leap again.

Lu Ming slowly walked up to Xie Jinyu’s corpse, nudged him upright with his foot, and began frisking him up and down.

Judging by his proficiency, it was clearly not his first time killing and looting a body.

Damn it, could it be that after one Xie Jinyu died, another ruthless individual appeared?

They had already been traumatized by Xie Jinyu.

Chen Ziliang’s mouth twitched, his peripheral vision catching Wei Changfeng’s solemn face, the hairs on the back of the latter’s neck standing on end.

His powerful ally was good in every way, except he didn’t play by the rules.

If he didn’t explain things soon, Wei Changfeng and the others would be scared to death.

“Captain Wei! Captain Wei, don’t be nervous!” Chen Ziliang quickly forced a smile and hurried to Wei Changfeng, pulling out his ID to state his identity.

“I am Chen Ziliang from the Jiangcheng Night Watch Division Logistics Department, and that is the newly promoted Night Watcher, Lu Ming, Night Watcher Lu!”

New... new recruit?

Wei Changfeng breathed a sigh of relief, while the saber in his hand trembled.

This, damn it, was a new recruit?

He had naively thought it was reinforcements Director Zhao had invited from another branch.

But you’re telling me he’s a new recruit?

He had lived most of his life, spending over thirty years in the Night Watch Division.

The last new recruit this fierce was Xie Jinyu, but he was now “split in two.”

After confirming their safety, the surrounding Night Watchers also lowered their guard and erupted into chatter.

“My goodness, a new recruit has this much strength? Then what about us old-timers, are we supposed to just die?”

“Our Director Zhao is amazing, she pulled another SSR! I hope he’s not a second Xie... Mmph? Mmph mmph mmph!”

No sooner had the last Night Watcher finished speaking than he was sharply elbowed by his companion, making him grimace in pain.

“Old Zhang, if you want to die, don’t drag us down with you.”

Lu Ming, however, seemed not to hear, his fingers retrieving a storage bag from Xie Jinyu’s chest pocket.

He probed it with his spiritual power.

Heh, as expected of a genius young man.

He hit the big jackpot!

A three-star martial art skill – “Nine Revolutions Spirit-Chastising Spear.”

It was the move Xie Jinyu had just used.

One spiritual spear per revolution, compressing spiritual energy to its critical point before a sudden burst. No wonder that one spear earlier had shattered Wei Changfeng’s protective aura.

To be fair, it was quite cool.

However, Lu Ming couldn't learn it for now; he needed to break through to the Third Realm before he could release spiritual energy externally.

Besides that, there were a few [Spirit Nurturing Pills] for restoring spiritual energy and some materials for forging defensive equipment.

It seemed Xie Jinyu was aware of his high offense, low defense problem, but unfortunately, he hadn't had time to address his weakness.

But encountering a monster like Lu Ming, no matter how high his defense, once marked with the Execution Mark, there was only one path: death... Ten minutes later.

Wei Changfeng and the others explained the entire sequence of events, leaving Lu Ming stunned.

Did something happen to these Night Watchers’ ancestral graves too?

They finally found an undeveloped ruin.

They thought they could pick up some good treasures.

Who knew there would be a mysterious guardian beast and members of the Nether race?

Three small teams, over a dozen people, lost several members.

But the most despicable was Xie Jinyu, who, in order to divert the attention of the Nether race, directly exposed the coordinates of a mine.

“Brother Lu, that mine is over a hundred li away, mostly low-strength miners, and they won’t be able to hold out for long. Now that we’ve found the people, why don’t we go back...”

After a pause, Chen Ziliang subconsciously suggested running away.

But he also instantly realized that he had already made this suggestion three times.

Each time, his conclusion was that the enemy was stronger, and they couldn’t contend with them.

Yet, Lu Ming always managed to cut them down like chopping vegetables.

All those so-called genius young men were merely souls under his blade.

“You all go back and report,” Lu Ming interrupted him. “Notify Director Zhao to bring people to seal off the area around the mine. I’ll go check the pagoda.”

Upon hearing this, Chen Ziliang’s glasses almost slid off his nose: “Brother Lu! Don’t be rash!”

Chen Ziliang was a thousand times unwilling.

He had finally latched onto the leg of a powerful ally, but the trial period was almost over.

Lu Ming ignored him, turning to gaze at the mysterious pagoda: “There’s an old saying in Daxia, ‘Since we’re already here...’”

To be honest, Xie Jinyu, despite being a beast, had good taste.

The things inside were coveted even by foreign races, so they were definitely extraordinary treasures.

He certainly couldn't miss out on that.

“Clap clap!”

“Splendid, truly splendid!”

Just then, a hoarse voice pierced through the swirling yellow sand...
