154: Chapter 154 Cleaning Up Akihabara (Part 1): The Otaku's Obsession and the Maid's Coffee
Yingzhou Province, ruins of the former Akihabara commercial district.
This place was once the Holy Land for global two-dimensional culture in the old era, revered by countless people as a spiritual home.
However, after being baptized by both the Great Catastrophe and nuclear radiation, it did not turn into a desolate wasteland. Instead, it gave birth to a bizarre ecosystem that left all biologists scratching their heads.
At this moment, gray mist shrouded the streets.
"Um... Old Jin."
Wang Dachui stood at the street corner, holding a rusty shovel he had picked up, looking at the group of wandering creatures, his mouth twitching uncontrollably, feeling that his worldview was being tested like never before:
"Is there something wrong with the Feng Shui of this place?"
"In other places, mutations just mean growing a horn, an extra leg, or at worst, having half a face rot off. It looks disgusting, but at least they still look like monsters. Why do the mutant beasts here make me want to call the police?"
In the street ahead, a group of bloated, pale-skinned, pregnant-looking... humanoid zombies were wandering about.
They were not roaring, "Meat! Fresh meat!" like ordinary zombies. Instead, each of them was clutching a dirty, cotton-stuffed body pillow tightly to their chest.
On some of the pillows, one could vaguely make out the image of some anime girl.
They moved slowly, muttering to themselves. They weren't shouting about fighting or killing, but were mumbling some incantations that no one could understand.
"Wife... my wife..."
"These are—'Otaku Obsession Corpses'."
Old Jin solemnly opened the electronic recorder in his hand, his tone as professional as if he were narrating a National Geographic documentary, but there was a hint of helplessness in his brow:
"According to records, during the Great Catastrophe, these people held their ground in anime shops, refusing to evacuate, swearing to live and die with their figures. As a result, they were infected by high concentrations of radiation and the Aura of the abyss."
"Even after turning into monsters, they still maintain the obsession they had in life—the spirit of the otaku, never extinguished. Their desire to attack is not strong, unless..."
"Unless what?" Wang Dachui asked curiously.
"Unless they see a 'normie'."
"What's a 'normie'?" Wang Dachui was stunned.
"Someone like you, a winner in life who is handsome, has a good physique, and is accompanied by several beautiful wives."
Before he could finish speaking, as if to prove Old Jin's words true, the group of Otaku Obsession Corpses, who had been wandering aimlessly, suddenly turned their heads in unison, like sharks that had smelled blood.
Hundreds of cloudy, bloodshot eyes locked onto Wang Dachui, who was standing at the front.
"Roar!!!"
"Normie... explode!"
"Burn... the heretic!"
The low muttering instantly turned into shrill roars.
The zombies suddenly pulled out chemical glow sticks that were still emitting an eerie green light from their waistbands.
"Swish, swish, swish!"
Their movements were uniform as they actually formed a standard "Wota-gei" cheering formation!
"What the hell is this?!"
Wang Dachui was startled and instinctively took a half-step back.
In the next second, the zombies violently swung their arms, and the glow sticks in their hands turned into streaks of green light. They weren't used for lighting, but were thrown fiercely like throwing knives!
"Watch out! There's radioactive liquid in those glow sticks!" Su Qianqian shouted.
"Let me handle it!"
Zhang Dapao roared and took a step in front of Wang Dachui.
He didn't use any special abilities; he simply swung the large black wok he had been using to cook for decades, which he carried on his back, and blocked it in front of him like a shield.
"Clang, clang, clang—"
The glow sticks hit the large black wok, making crisp sounds. Green liquid splattered everywhere, causing the ground to sizzle as it corroded.
"Hey! These little brats, they're pretty good at using hidden weapons!"
Although Zhang Dapao had a lame leg, his stance was as steady as Mount Tai.
He held the wok with his left hand for defense, and a cluster of orange-red flames emerged from his right palm—this was his C-rank fire ability, the most ordinary mortal fire, but it was enough to burn trash.
"Burn for me!"
Zhang Dapao waved his hand, and the flames spread along the ground.
"Ah! My figures! My limited editions!"
When the zombies in front saw the fire coming, they didn't run away. Instead, they fearfully held their pillows and figures high, trying to use their own bodies to block the fire.
"This..." Wang Dachui was stunned, "This is too touching, isn't it? I can't even bring myself to hit them."
"Don't be fooled!"
General Leng Feng was expressionless. She didn't even draw her Hanyuan Blade; she simply flew up and kicked away a fat zombie that was trying to rush over and hug Wang Dachui's leg.
"They are monsters, they have no sense of pain. They are just protecting their core."
Sure enough, those zombies burned by the fire didn't die; instead, they seemed to be enraged.
One of the elite-level zombies wearing broken glasses suddenly looked up and roared:
"For the glory of the two-dimensional world! Charge!"
"Rumble—"
The momentum of these fat guys running was no less than that of a regular army; the ground was shaking.
"What a pain."
Wang Dachui sighed and stuck his shovel into the ground.
"Wives, it seems we have to clean up the trash."
"No need for you to do it, it's too dirty."
Ji Taimei covered her nose with a handkerchief in disgust and took two steps back.
Although she had S-rank Mental Energy, she really couldn't muster any interest in dealing with such mindless things. She looked at the Black Gold Guard behind her:
"You go, use electric batons, knock them out, drag them away, and bury them."
"Yes!"
A dozen Black Gold Guard bodyguards rushed up. After a burst of crackling electrical sounds, the group of Otaku Obsession Corpses, who had been shouting "Normie explode," finally lay quietly on the ground, twitching from time to time.
But this was only the perimeter.
After clearing the street, everyone arrived in front of a shopping mall that had not completely collapsed.
This used to be a famous "Maid Cafe."
Although the glass was broken and the sign was crooked, two rows of female zombies wearing tattered maid outfits and thick, eerie makeup still stood at the entrance.
Their movements were stiff, and they had that terrifying, fake smile on their faces.
Seeing Wang Dachui and the others approaching, these maid zombies didn't pounce directly. Instead, they bent down in unison and made a raspy sound like damaged vocal cords:
"Wel... come... home... Mas... ter..."
This sound echoed in the gloomy ruins, even more creepy than ghost wails.
"Oh my god..." Wang Dachui rubbed the goosebumps on his arms, "Is this level of service a bit too dedicated?"
"Master... please have some tea..."
A maid zombie who looked like a shift manager walked over unsteadily, carrying a tray in her hand.
On the tray was a cup of "coffee" that was still steaming.
Wang Dachui leaned in to look, and saw that the cup was not filled with coffee at all, but a cup of black, bubbling sludge, with a few dead flies floating on top.
"This is... special... moe... moe... magic..."
The maid zombie said while extending her rotten fingers to make a heart shape over the cup of sludge:
"Become... delicious... okay!"
After finishing this routine, she held the cup out to Wang Dachui's face, her eyes, which were only whites, staring fixedly at him:
"Drink... or not... means... you don't love me..."
"I'll drink your grandpa!"
Wang Dachui finally couldn't take it anymore; this was simply mental pollution!
He lifted his leg and kicked, sending both the tray and the maid zombie flying away.
"Bang!"
The maid zombie hit the wall. Instead of getting Life Qi, she climbed up from the ground, tilted her head, and revealed an even more eerie smile:
"Master... tsundere... likes... violence..."
"Sisters... Master... likes... being hit..."
"Huh?!" Wang Dachui was stunned.
In the next second.
The two rows of previously docile maid zombies at the door suddenly pulled out various weapons from under their aprons—
Frying pans with nails, rusty chainsaws, and even those huge, blood-stained plush teddy bears.
"In order to... satisfy... Master..."
"Beat... him... to death!"
A group of zombies in maid outfits charged over, brandishing chainsaws and frying pans. The scene was too beautiful to look at.
"Are the brain circuits of the monsters in this place fried by nuclear radiation?!"
Wang Dachui shouted while dodging the frying pan attacks awkwardly:
"Nalan! Hurry! Use your vines to tie them up! Don't let them get close to me! I'm a germaphobe!"
Nalan Ruo stood in the distance, watching Wang Dachui being chased down the street by a group of maid zombies, and couldn't help but laugh out loud.
"I think they are quite enthusiastic, why don't you just give in?"
Although she joked, Nalan Ruo didn't stop her hands.
She flicked her fingers lightly, without needing any flashy incantations.
"Rise."
The weeds on the ground grew wildly in an instant, turning into countless green ropes, precisely entangling the ankles of those maid zombies, and then pulling them hard.
"Thud! Thud!"
A group of zombies fell into a pile.
"Zhang Dapao! Purify!" Wang Dachui yelled.
"Coming!"
Zhang Dapao didn't hesitate; he sprayed a mouthful of strong liquor onto a torch, and a long dragon of fire swept past.
"Ah! My dress! Limited edition!"
In the flames, these dedicated maids finally turned to ashes.
"Phew..."
Wang Dachui wiped off his cold sweat, feeling mentally exhausted.
Fighting this group of monsters was more tiring than fighting a Tier 6 Beast Emperor, mainly because it was mentally exhausting.
"Let's go, let's go! Hurry and change places! I can't stay in this place anymore!"
Wang Dachui took the lead and walked towards another street.
"I hope to encounter some normal monsters, even fire-breathing dinosaurs would be fine, at least they don't talk so much nonsense."
However, facts proved that he was overthinking it.
The monsters on Yingzhou Island, there is no most bizarre, only more bizarre.
