2: Chapter 2 I surrendered myself to the state, and you treat me like a madman?

"Hello, comrade, is there anything I can help you with?"

At the entrance of the Jiangcheng Municipal Bureau of National Security, a sentinel stood tall and straight, his eyes as sharp as an eagle's, as he stopped Lin Yun from approaching.

Lin Yun took a deep breath, trying his best to calm his racing heart.

Standing here, facing the national emblem, an invisible pressure washed over him, making the legs of this ordinary citizen feel a bit weak.

But he knew he had no way back!

"Hello, comrade." Lin Yun tried to make his voice sound steady and powerful. "I have intelligence vital to national security that I need to report to your top leader in person."

His words were forceful, and his eyes were filled with an unquestionable determination.

However, there was no change in the sentinel's expression, and he simply said in a formulaic tone, "Comrade, if you have intelligence to report, you can call our tip-off hotline or go to the petition reception room next door to register."

Every day, there were eighty to a hundred people who came here wanting to 'report important intelligence.' Most of them were either suffering from delusions or reporting trivial matters.

They had long since become accustomed to it.

"No!"

Lin Yun shook his head decisively, his tone becoming heavier. "This matter cannot be explained clearly over the phone, and I absolutely cannot let a third person know! Its secrecy level is probably... the highest kind!"

"I request to immediately see the highest-ranking official in charge here!"

The sentinel's brow finally furrowed slightly.

The young man in front of him didn't look like he was joking.

His gaze was too calm—so calm it was even a bit... eerie.

"Please show your identification." The sentinel did not lower his guard.

Lin Yun immediately pulled his ID card from his pocket and handed it over.

The sentinel quickly verified it through the internal system. The information was simple: Lin Yun, 22 years old, a recent graduate of Jiangcheng University (a third-tier college), with no criminal record—his background was as clean as a blank sheet of paper.

Just an ordinary college student?

The alertness in the sentinel's eyes instantly turned into a hint of suspicion.

"Comrade Lin Yun, I'm reminding you once more that this is a national security organ, not a place for jokes. Do you know the consequences of falsely reporting military intelligence?"

"Of course I know." Lin Yun looked him straight in the eye and said word for word, "I also know what the consequences will be if the matter I have to say today is delayed! That is a responsibility neither you nor I can afford to bear!"

Those words carried immense weight!

The sentinel's expression finally changed.

He hesitated for a few seconds before finally reporting to the interior via walkie-talkie.

A moment later, a capable-looking woman in her thirties, dressed in civilian clothes, walked out of the building.

She was tall with a cold expression, and her phoenix eyes were so sharp they seemed able to pierce through a person's heart.

"You are Lin Yun?" The woman looked him up and down, her voice as cold as her expression.

"That's me."

"My name is Team Leader Wang Li, and I am the action group leader here. You say you have top-secret information to report?" There was a trace of scrutiny and a hint of mockery in Team Leader Wang Li's tone.

Another young man who probably watched a few spy movies and fantasized about being a savior.

"Yes." Lin Yun nodded, his expression incredibly solemn. "I suggest we go somewhere absolutely private to talk. Because every word I am about to say could change the destiny of the Dragon Kingdom!"

Change the destiny of the nation?

Team Leader Wang Li almost laughed out of sheer exasperation.

What bold words!

She had seen exaggerations before, but never one this extreme!

"Fine, follow me."

Suppressing her impatience, Team Leader Wang Li turned and led Lin Yun into a small interrogation room—no, a reception room.

The room contained nothing but two chairs and a table; the walls were made of special soundproofing material, and a camera with a flashing red light sat in the corner.

"You can speak now, right?" Team Leader Wang Li sat down and crossed her arms, striking a pose that said, 'I'd like to see what tricks you're up to.'

Lin Yun sat opposite her, leaned forward, lowered his voice, and said in an unprecedentedly solemn tone:

"Team Leader Wang, I'll keep it short."

"I, Lin Yun, an ordinary patriotic youth, have accidentally obtained a... well, you could call it a special ability."

"My ability can continuously provide the state with black technology that surpasses this era!"

At this point, he paused to observe Team Leader Wang Li's reaction.

The last trace of patience disappeared from Team Leader Wang Li's face.

In its place was deep disappointment and helplessness.

As expected.

Another mentally unstable one.

She had already begun to calculate whether she should contact a psychiatric hospital or his family to pick him up.

"For example?" Team Leader Wang Li asked expressionlessly, purely out of professional procedure.

Lin Yun didn't mind her contempt; it was entirely within his expectations.

He took a deep breath and dropped the first bombshell!

"For example, a complete set of blueprints and technology for a 2nm process Lithography Machine."

"For example, the formula and preparation method for Room-temperature Superconducting Material."

"And for another example... the ignition scheme for Controlled Nuclear Fusion!"

...

With every word Lin Yun spoke, Team Leader Wang Li's mouth twitched a bit more.

By the time he finished the last word, Team Leader Wang Li had completely lost the desire to keep listening.

Lithography Machines? Room-temperature superconductivity? Controlled Nuclear Fusion?

Why don't you just say you can build anti-matter shells by hand?

These were century-old challenges that the state had invested countless human and material resources into, and that generations of scientists had struggled to overcome!

And you, a graduate from a third-tier college, just talk about them as if they're nothing?

"Are you finished?" Team Leader Wang Li interrupted him coldly.

"Not yet." Lin Yun shook his head and then threw out his ultimate goal for this trip, which was also his most ridiculous statement yet.

"Team Leader Wang, I'm here today because I want to hand myself over to the state!"

"I am willing to freely donate all the black technology I obtain, with only one condition!"

Team Leader Wang Li looked at him, her eyes already regarding him as a complete madman.

Lin Yun's expression, however, was incredibly sincere, even carrying a hint of... a sacred sense of mission.

"This ability of mine needs to be triggered through... procreation."

"The more children I have and the higher their potential, the more advanced the technology I can produce!"

"So, I don't want to struggle on my own anymore!"

Lin Yun looked at Team Leader Wang Li with burning eyes and said word for word:

"I am applying for the state to help introduce me to potential partners!"

"For the great rejuvenation of the Dragon Kingdom, I, Lin Yun, voluntarily offer to have children for the country!"

"..."

Dead silence.

The interrogation room fell into a dead silence that lasted for half a minute.

Team Leader Wang Li's expression shifted from coldness to astonishment, then to absurdity, and finally transformed into a rage at being toyed with!

"Lin Yun!"

She slammed the table, stood up, and glared down at him, her eyes as cold as knives!

"Do you have any idea where you are! Do you have any idea what kind of nonsense you are talking!"

"Having children for the country? Do you think this is a vegetable market? You are seriously disrupting the normal working order of a national security organ!"

"I now have sufficient reason to suspect that you are a spy sent by some hostile force to deliberately use this absurd method to test us and drain our energy!"

"Guards!"

At Team Leader Wang Li's sharp command, two fully armed security personnel immediately burst through the door!

Seeing this, Lin Yun didn't panic; instead, he let out a long sigh of relief.

He knew that if he didn't produce something real, he wouldn't get through today.

He slowly leaned back in his chair, looked at the infuriated Team Leader Wang Li, and said calmly:

"Team Leader Wang, don't get excited."

"Since I dared to come, I naturally brought a 'token of allegiance.'"

His hand slowly reached into his pocket.

The two security personnel immediately grew tense, their hands already resting on the weapons at their waists!

Team Leader Wang Li's heart also tightened!

However, what Lin Yun pulled out was neither a weapon nor anything dangerous.

It was a... small, black USB drive.

He placed the USB drive gently on the table and pushed it toward Team Leader Wang Li.

"I know that without proof, you won't believe what a 'madman' like me says."

"Inside this is the first meeting gift I am giving to the state."

A mysterious smile curled at the corners of Lin Yun's mouth, and his eyes were as deep as if they contained a starry sky.

"Its name is..."

"'The Complete Design Drawings and Detailed Manufacturing Processes for the "Kunlun" WS-30 High Thrust-to-Weight Ratio Turbofan Engine'!"
