13: Individual nuclear bomb?

Three days later.

Peng Lin moved into his independent office on the third floor of the Military Industrial Design Institute's office building.

On the door of his office hung a nameplate that read "Deputy Director's Office."

Although this office was not large, it was fully equipped with living and working facilities.

What pleased Peng Lin the most was a computer placed on his desk.

This meant that from today onwards, Peng Lin would no longer have to hand-draw technical blueprints.

His work efficiency would greatly improve.

In this era, computers were an absolute rarity; apart from scientific research and national defense, individuals rarely owned computers.

Peng Lin studied it for a long time, turned on the CRT monitor, used a trackball mouse, and operated the UNIX system used by the Military Industrial Design Institute, feeling both unfamiliar and familiar.

Subsequently, he began to use CATIA software, specialized for aviation, to create a 3D model of the reverse-engineered Chinook Helicopter.

A few hours later, he completed the modeling of the helicopter's fuselage and main rotor.

"With a computer, work efficiency is so much higher!"

Peng Lin exclaimed from the bottom of his heart.

Previously, it would take him at least two hours to hand-draw a single technical blueprint.

And a single component often required dozens or even scores of blueprints.

But now, he could complete the 3D modeling of a large component on the computer in just a few hours.

Next, Peng Lin spent less than three days.

He completed the re-modeling of the reverse-engineered Chinook prototype on the computer.

At the same time, an electronic synthesized voice appeared in his mind:

[Research Project Name: Reverse Assembly of Chinook Helicopter]

[Difficulty Assessment: C]

[Task Progress: 100%]

[Task Reward: 500 Research Points]

He had finally completed the first research project of the Military Industrial Auxiliary System.

Subsequently, he invited Liu Wen, Wu Da, and the other four expert professors who voluntarily remained at the Changhe Military Factory to his office.

"Professor Liu Wen..."

"Old Wu..."

Peng Lin stood up to greet them when they arrived at his office.

The youngest of the four, Professor Liu Wen, was also over forty years old.

Professor Wu Da, the oldest among them, was nearly sixty.

Peng Lin held immense respect for these four highly esteemed expert professors who were willing to stay at the remote, third-line Changhe Factory.

The Changhe Military Factory had also arranged personal offices for the four of them, with the same configuration as Peng Lin's office.

"Four professors, this is the 3D model of my domestically designed Chinook Helicopter. I will explain our localized design, which differs from that of the USA."

"Firstly, the USA uses composite material rotor blades on the Chinook, which our current basic industry and material science cannot achieve."

"Therefore, for the domestic rotor blades, I adopted a swept-back leading edge and a downturned blade tip design."

"This way, even if our domestic rotor blades do not use composite materials, we can still exceed a maximum take-off weight of 22 tons."

"Additionally, I have merged the main and auxiliary fuel tanks in the domestically produced Chinook Helicopter, which can reduce the empty weight by 90 kilograms and optimize the transmission system..."

Peng Lin opened the computer and displayed his new design proposal to the four individuals.

Professor Liu Wen and Professor Wu Da, along with the other two, were completely shocked by Peng Lin's imaginative design and improvement ideas.

These various design concepts and technical approaches were practically unheard of by them.

However, after careful deduction and consideration, they discovered that Peng Lin's technologies were indeed feasible.

And even with the backward domestic industrial foundation and materials, he managed to use various new design solutions to ensure that the performance of the domestically reverse-engineered Chinook Helicopter was not diminished in the slightest.

In particular, Peng Lin also proposed a "modular" construction plan.

This could directly and greatly reduce the construction and assembly process of the domestic Chinook Helicopter.

It even saved a great deal of trouble for subsequent maintenance and upkeep.

Although Professor Liu Wen and the others were all renowned experts and scholars in the field of helicopters and military industry in the country.

At this moment, they were like students, completely engrossed in Peng Lin's explanation, listening and contemplating seriously.

It wasn't until several hours later that they roughly understood and fully grasped Peng Lin's design concepts.

"I now believe that once our domestically reverse-engineered Chinook Helicopter is produced, it might even perform better than the original version from the USA!"

"Staying to work at the Changhe Factory is definitely the most correct decision I've made in my life!"

After reviewing the modeling technical blueprints, Professor Wu Da exclaimed from the bottom of his heart.

"Professor Liu Wen, Old Wu, next is the trial production of various parts for the prototype."

"I'll entrust these to the four of you; please put in more effort and guide the workshop frequently."

Peng Lin assigned them the task, saying.

"Deputy Director Peng, this is already our duty."

"We should be thanking you for giving us such an opportunity to shine again."

"Don't worry, within a month, the domestically reverse-engineered Chinook prototype will definitely be produced!"

Professor Liu Wen said with immense confidence.

"Good, then I'm relieved."

Peng Lin smiled and nodded, then saw the four professors off.

Subsequently, he began to open the system panel and create a new military research and development project:

[Research Project Name: Individual Thermobaric Weapon]

[Difficulty Assessment: D]

[Task Progress: 0%]

[Task Reward: 200 Research Points]

A few years ago, during the USA' military operations against the Yue Hou Country, the USA had used a new type of bomb.

The temperature at the center of the explosion of this new bomb could instantly reach 2500 degrees Celsius.

And the overpressure generated by this new bomb within a 50-meter radius could reach 3.5 MPa.

This overpressure value was close to that produced by a 1-kiloton tactical nuclear bomb detonation.

The high temperature and high pressure generated by this new type of bomb were sufficient to destroy any armored vehicles and fortified bunkers within a certain range.

And it would also cause a huge mushroom cloud to rise above the explosion site.

At that time, facing such a powerful bomb, the whole world even thought that the USA had used nuclear strikes in the Yue Hou Country.

Later, countries around the world learned that the USA military had not used nuclear bombs, but a new type of bomb called a thermobaric weapon!

After this thermobaric weapon was developed and used by the USA, countries like the Soviet Union and various European nations all began to invest massive resources, manpower, and material resources into its research.

But currently, it was still in a state of confusion.

Now, Peng Lin not only wanted to develop a new type of thermobaric weapon.

But also an Individual Thermobaric Weapon!

The Dragon Country's army did not have the powerful air superiority and bomber fleet that the USA possessed.

Even if a large thermobaric weapon was developed, it would be difficult to deliver it over enemy positions.

So, based on this new thermobaric weapon technology, Peng Lin planned to also borrow the technology of RPG rocket launchers to develop an Individual Thermobaric Weapon.

This way, in the upcoming war against the Yue Hou Country, the Dragon Country's army could use small "nuclear bombs" per person!
