27: The truth is only within the range of cannons!
“Not artillery shells?”
“But thermobaric weapons!”
When Peng Lin uttered these words, Factory Director Gu stumbled back in shock!
What does a 50-kilogram or 100-kilogram Individual Thermobaric Weapon even mean?
He found it hard to imagine!
If this thing flew to the Yue Hou Country’s command post and hit them, would anyone survive?
“Due to the mass production of the Individual Thermobaric Weapon, our Changhe Factory has already prepared a considerable amount of thermobaric agent.”
“I had the Military Industrial Design Institute design and trial-produce 50-kilogram and 100-kilogram warheads separately.”
“We’ll test them at the firing range in a bit.”
Peng Lin looked up at the sickle drone and said.
“No!”
“Absolutely do not test it within the factory!”
“Are you trying to blow up half of my Changhe Factory?”
Factory Director Gu was a bit scared and quickly stopped Peng Lin.
He had only been factory director for about a month; his seat wasn’t even warm yet.
If Peng Lin blew up the factory with a thermobaric weapon, his responsibility would be immense.
And Factory Director Gu was not being overly worried.
Take artillery shells using ordinary explosives, for example; usually, only 155mm howitzers weigh 50 kilograms.
As for 100-kilogram shells, perhaps only the 240mm Tulip self-propelled mortar shells, recently equipped by the Soviet Union a few years ago, could meet that standard.
This is currently the largest caliber self-propelled mortar in any country.
When the Soviet Union test-fired the 240mm Tulip, it once destroyed a ten-story reinforced concrete building with a single shot!
Its killing radius could reach hundreds of meters, with a damage area of several thousand square meters!
When this shell explodes, the powerful shockwave and numerous high-speed fragments it produces are terrifying!
And now, what Peng Lin was going to test was a 100-kilogram class thermobaric weapon.
That would be several times more powerful than the Tulip shell.
So how could Factory Director Gu not be scared!
“A 50-kilogram thermobaric weapon can be tested at the artillery range, but for a 100-kilogram thermobaric weapon, the range is indeed too small.”
“In that case, we’ll wait until after the drone flight test, then go to the mountain on the East Side to test it.”
Peng Lin thought for a moment and proposed a new plan.
“That works.”
“I’ll immediately send people to cordon off the mountain on the East Side.”
“Once we confirm there’s no one in the mountain, we’ll go test it.”
Factory Director Gu nodded and said.
The power of a 100-kilogram thermobaric weapon was too great; even if there were people at the foot of the mountain, he was afraid of accidents from falling rocks.
So, a cordon was essential before testing.
Thinking of this, Factory Director Gu subconsciously looked towards the bare mountain on the East Side.
It was August, and all the mountain forests and trees were lush and green.
But only that mountain top remained bare because Peng Lin had tested Individual Thermobaric Weapons there a few months ago, bombing the entire summit.
And now, Peng Lin was actually going to test a 100-kilogram thermobaric warhead there again.
Factory Director Gu could only say that the mountain, being near the Changhe Factory, had truly suffered greatly!
“Oh, by the way, what does this drone use for navigation?”
“How can it ensure it accurately hits the target?”
Factory Director Gu asked again.
The new type of drone Peng Lin was developing was already terrifying in terms of endurance, payload, and destructive power.
So the remaining question was how to accurately hit the enemy.
“Mainly, like ballistic missiles, it relies on inertial navigation.”
“I developed a small gyroscope specifically for the sickle suicide drone, which can achieve an accuracy of 50 meters.”
“As long as the target coordinates are preset, the drone can fly along its trajectory to strike.”
Peng Lin replied.
“What?”
“50 meters?”
Factory Director Gu was surprised again.
One must know, this was 50-meter accuracy for a long-range strike of two thousand kilometers.
As far as he knew, the USA’ Pershing-2 missile and the Soviet Union’s SS-20 missile probably had similar strike accuracy.
And what was the cost of those missiles?
What was the cost of the sickle suicide drone Peng Lin built with plywood and wood!
“Actually, the drone can also adjust strike accuracy in real-time through radio guidance.”
“If we launch a drone swarm strike and have an H-6 photographic reconnaissance aircraft providing real-time guidance from high altitude.”
“Then the strike accuracy can be improved to at least within 10 meters.”
Peng Lin said.
The H-6 photographic reconnaissance aircraft was a high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft realized by modifying relevant equipment on an H-6 bomber platform.
“10-meter accuracy, that would truly turn the Yue Hou Country’s rear upside down!”
“We might not be able to detect the enemy’s front-line field command post.”
“But their rear operational Commander-in-Chief headquarters, theater hospitals, armories, and transportation hubs like roads and railways are all fixed in place…”
As he spoke of the exciting points, Factory Director Gu’s breathing became rapid.
If their Commander-in-Chief headquarters and armory were taken out, how would the Viet Cong fight on the front lines?
Both command and logistical supply would surely be in complete chaos!
And Factory Director Gu’s idea was naturally Peng Lin’s original intention in developing the sickle suicide drone.
There were no effective air defense methods in this era.
The most effective air defense weapons and equipment of the Yue Hou Country were still anti-aircraft guns aided by the Dragon Country years ago.
These anti-aircraft guns were fine for radar-locking large high-altitude bombers.
However, against low-altitude suicide drones with small radar cross-sections, they would likely find it difficult to lock on at all.
And after the sickle suicide drone conducted swarm strikes on the rear.
Next, various assault battalions would take advantage of the chaos on the enemy’s front line and launch positional assault operations, transported by z-8 heavy transport helicopters.
By then, Peng Lin had already developed a complete set of tactical equipment for the impending self-defense counterattack against the Viet Cong.
If the international situation didn’t change much after the war broke out.
Then reaching the capital of the Yue Hou Country within ten days would definitely not be a problem.
The Yue Hou Country, having driven out the USA with aid from the Dragon Country, and with substantial weapon and equipment aid from the Soviet Union, dared to call itself the world’s third military power.
This time, the Dragon Country would surely make them pay a heavy price!
Subsequently, Peng Lin and Factory Director Gu boarded a z-8, following the sickle suicide drone to record its various flight attitudes and data.
Although the sickle was made of simple materials, the installed altimeter, accelerometer, and gyroscope allowed it to fly incredibly stably.
For an entire day, the skies above Changhe and Jingdezhen City were filled with the constant buzzing sound of drones flying.
By evening, the sickle drone had successfully completed its preliminary tests.
It successfully met its design target of flying 2000 kilometers in ten hours.
“This is the truth!”
Peng Lin nodded, very satisfied with it.
“What do you mean?”
Factory Director Gu seemed a little confused.
He didn’t quite understand the meaning of Peng Lin’s sudden remark.
“Dignity lies only at the edge of the sword, and truth lies only within the range of artillery!”
“And the range of our sickle drone is 2000 kilometers; this is our truth!”
“Other countries will have to think twice before provoking us again!”
Peng Lin explained.
