148: Absolute advantage, a result that shocked the world!
When the formation of J-10s and J-8s appeared on theil Airport runway, the entire airshow venue instantly erupted.
On the viewing stand, representatives from various countries rose one after another, their binoculars all aimed at the runway.
Reporters scrambled for the best positions, and camera flashes flickered like a torrential downpour.
The Soviet Union delegation whispered among themselves, and USA officers clutched their tactical manuals, all focused on this simulated aerial combat between third-generation fighters!
The excited voice of the announcer echoed through the airport: “A historic showdown is about to begin!”
Before this, no one had ever imagined seeing a third-generation fighter jet showdown between Western nations and the Dragon Country at the Paris International Air Show!
On both sides of the runway, engineers held their breath, staring at the four silver-gray war eagles; the air over the entire Le Bourget Airport seemed to be ignited by the roar of the fighter jet engines!
As the command from the control tower was given, the J-10 in the Dragon Country fighter formation was the first to roar into the sky at a 15° angle of attack, with three J-8stacitly maintaining a 50-meter interval close behind.
The formation completed its tactical assembly at an altitude of 800 meters. The J-10's passive phased array radar was activated first, its planar slotted antenna scanning the airspace 60 times per second, instantly bringing the Mirage 2000 formation 120 kilometers away into its tracking range.
Inside the cockpit, Lei Yi's tactical screen displayed the real-time flight paths of the four Mirage 2000s, and the fire control computer completed threat prioritization in 0.3 seconds!
“Execute the 'Falcon' tactic!”
Lei Yi issued the command via an encrypted data link.
Although the Beidou Satellite Positioning System currently cannot cover Europe, to participate in this airshow, the Dragon Country Aviation Industry Delegation brought a mobile relay communication device modified from a Mengshi, which could cover a range of 150 kilometers through distributed deployment.
This was sufficient to support this simulated aerial combat exchange.
Upon Lei Yi's command, the three J-8s immediately dispersed into a “Trident” formation, receiving enemy aircraft dynamics shared by the lead aircraft via tactical data link.
The distance between the J-10 and J-8 mixed formation and the Mirage 2000 aerial formation was continuously closing!
Furthermore, the J-10's passive phased array radar and air-to-air missiles possessed an absolute advantage!
The radar equipped on the Mirage 2000 had a high-altitude detection range of approximately 110 kilometers, and in terms of weaponry, the Matra Super 530D medium-range air-to-air missile had a range of approximately 40 kilometers.
This radar detection data and air-to-air missile range were definitely considered excellent among third-generation fighters.
Otherwise, the Gallic Rooster and Europe would not have placed such high hopes on the Mirage 2000.
However, Peng Lin, in order to highlight the J-10 “Vigorous Dragon” fighter's “beyond-visual-range strike capability” and “one-against-many” advantage among third-generation fighters, had also put considerable effort into radar and air-to-air missile research and development.
The latest passive phased array radar of the J-10 “Vigorous Dragon” not only achieved a detection range of 150 kilometers, but the PL-12 medium-range air-to-air missile also had a range of 80 kilometers!
It possessed the absolute advantage of “first to detect, first to launch, first to disengage”!
When the Mirage 2000 formation entered the 80-kilometer range, the J-10's passive phased array radar had already locked onto the lead aircraft.
Lei Yi was the first to launch two PL-12 medium-range missiles, using the “launch-after-lock” mode.
Although the lead Mirage immediately released chaff and dove to evade, the J-10's radar accurately identified the real target through Doppler filtering.
The PL-12 activated its active radar seeker 15 kilometers from the enemy aircraft, eventually intercepting it with a “T”-shaped flight path, biting into the right rear side of the lead Mirage, with the computer determining its engine compartment was penetrated and exploded.
According to the threat prioritization provided by the fire control system, the lead aircraft of the Mirage 2000 formation was the first to be “shot down”!
The right-wing wingman attempted to disengage with a snake-like maneuver while activating the “Spectrum-M” electronic countermeasures system to jam the missile seeker.
However, Lei Yi switched the radar to “burn-through” mode, enhancing the echo signal.
The PL-12 suddenly climbed in the last 3 kilometers, using a “high-throw trajectory” to avoid the interference zone, then dove to “hit” the root of the Mirage 2000's vertical stabilizer.
The aircraft “spun out of control,” and the system determined it had “structural failure and crashed.”
Almost simultaneously, the J-8 fleet, guided by the data link, entered the dogfight envelope, forming a triangular offensive to surround the two Mirage 2000s.
And the PL-8 short-range combat missiles under its wings completed preheating.
The remaining two Mirage 2000s were forced into close-range combat.
The left-wing wingman rapidly climbed to 5000 meters, leveraging its delta-wing advantage, attempting to suppress the J-8 with a “high yo-yo” tactic.
But one J-8 had already predicted its trajectory via data link, and at the moment the Mirage 2000 leveled out, it launched a PL-8 short-range combat missile in a “6 o'clock head-on” posture.
The missile's infrared seeker locked onto the Mirage 2000's exhaust nozzle, achieving an “unavoidable zone” kill at a distance of 200 meters.
When three Mirage 2000s in the combat formation were all “shot down” in a short instant, the pilot of the last Mirage 2000 had long lost the will to fight.
He quickly performed a snake-like maneuver, attempting to conceal himself in the clouds, but was detected by the J-10's radar through “synthetic aperture” mode.
Lei Yi piloted the J-10, pulling up sharply at a large angle and stopping abruptly, forcing the Mirage 2000 to overshoot.
When the enemy aircraft was forced to pull up and recover, the J-10's HUD had locked onto its belly, and the simulated cannon fire was determined to be a “destroyed cockpit.”
With the J-10 still having one PL-12 medium-range air-to-air missile, Lei Yi adopted a “dogfight” approach to eliminate it, in order to demonstrate the superior maneuverability of the J-10 “Vigorous Dragon”!
This was truly a psychological blow!
Even to be safe, a J-8 that had come to sandwich it also fired a PL-8 short-range combat missile from the flank, forming a crossfire to ensure the kill.
When four orange smoke plumes, representing “shot down” judgments, bloomed over Paris, the viewing stand instantly erupted in a tsunami of exclamations!
4:0!
This record shocked all countries participating in the Paris Air Show!
The Dragon Country, with its mixed formation of J-10 and J-8 fighters, actually defeated the all-third-generation fighter combat formation of Mirage 2000s by 4:0!
The four Mirage 2000s were shot down by beyond-visual-range strike, ballistic deception, close-range combat traps, and system coordination, with the entire process only taking 4 minutes and 22 seconds!
The J-10 formation, through the triple advantages of “data link + medium-range missiles + dogfight envelope,” completely crushed the Mirage 2000's delta-wing maneuverability advantage!
Minutes later, the J-10 “Vigorous Dragon” and three J-8s made a low-altitude pass in victory, the roar of their WS-10 engines thundering through Le Bourget Airport!
The moment the tires touched down, the drag chutes bloomed like white lotuses, and the August 1st military emblem shone brightly in the setting sun!
The viewing stand instantly boiled over, and reporters from various media outlets such as “Jane's Defence Weekly” and “Aviation Week” frantically rushed forward to photograph the J-10 “Vigorous Dragon” fighter and its pilots!
It is foreseeable that the J-10 “Vigorous Dragon” fighter will become the front-page headline of military newspapers worldwide tomorrow!
In this third-generation fighter showdown, the J-10 “Vigorous Dragon” fighter achieved a world-shattering result with an absolute advantage of 4 minutes and 22 seconds!
