Chapter 144: They've made it to the quarterfinals!

Chen Mo walked out of the interrogation room.

"Notify the people monitoring Sun Aiguo and Song Jia to arrest them immediately."

At the same time the message was sent.

Song Jia and Sun Aiguo, who were still sleeping in on their big bed at home, were arrested on the spot.

Along the way, both of them kept asking what had happened.

But in their hearts, they were very clear about what had happened.

They were just acting.

By the time they were brought to the Xinghan Municipal Bureau, an hour had already passed.

The time was now eight o'clock in the morning.

"Separate interrogations?" Xu Qingqing suggested.

"Sure, that will be faster." Chen Mo nodded and walked into the interrogation room where Song Jia was being held.

Since she had been brought over directly while she was sleeping, Song Jia was still wearing a loose pajama top.

"Officer Chen, what is the meaning of this?" Song Jia appeared confused.

She acted as if to say, "Didn't we just see each other yesterday? Why are you suddenly arresting me today?"

"You know exactly what I mean. We are quite anxious to solve this case."

"So, I don't want to waste time talking nonsense with you."

"Li Jiahao has already confessed everything. You are an accomplice who participated in the murder of Cui Shengli's entire family, and so is Sun Aiguo."

"I'll just ask you one thing: do you plead guilty?"

Song Jia's previously relaxed demeanor instantly turned serious.

Just as Chen Mo had anticipated, she shook her head.

As expected, they were the type who wouldn't shed tears until they saw the coffin.

"I don't know what you're talking about, Officer. I know Li Jiahao, but what he says has nothing to do with me."

Chen Mo nodded: "What I asked you earlier was just to give you a chance for leniency."

"These are Li Jiahao's confession records." Chen Mo placed a written confession by Li Jiahao in front of Song Jia.

"When you try to manipulate others, you must be careful." His words were pointed.

If Song Jia hadn't been so terrible to Li Xin, Li Jiahao wouldn't have broken down so quickly and confessed all the details of the case.

"No!" "This is impossible!" "It's fake, it must be fake!"

Song Jia's hands trembled uncontrollably as she held the document.

She naturally knew whether it was fake or not, because it contained all the circumstances of the crime from back then, including details that only the two of them knew.

Therefore, this confession must have been written by Li Jiahao! But! She couldn't understand why Li Jiahao would help the police identify her.

This didn't make sense! That wasn't what the two of them had agreed upon.

"What do you mean by 'be careful'?" Song Jia put down the document, her heart sinking continuously.

Her expression was as ugly as it could possibly be.

Aiding Li Jiahao in killing twelve people meant she was looking at at least a life sentence, and the death penalty wasn't out of the question.

Very few people can remain calm when facing death. Clearly, she was not one of those few.

"The reason Li Jiahao identified you is because his sister was not treated well in your Song family."

"The only leverage you had over him was allowing his sister to live a good life."

"Clearly, you failed to do that, so is it really that hard to understand why he identified you?"

Chen Mo casually explained the doubt in her heart.

He didn't know if it was his own quirk or what, but he especially loved watching the look of disbelief on criminals' faces when confronted with evidence.

This feeling made him feel particularly comfortable. When bad guys are brought to justice, they should feel particularly miserable and painful.

If it were plain and dull, he would be the one feeling uncomfortable instead.

"I... I plead guilty." Song Jia unclenched her tightly gripped fists.

It was as if the strength in her body had been drained away, and her straight back instantly slumped.

Her whole body went limp in the interrogation chair.

"Hmm, very sensible." "Have you studied facial expression management?" Chen Mo asked before leaving.

Because when he first met Song Jia, she had displayed two different personas.

One was the fool lurking by Sun Aiguo's side. The other was the cleverness disguised by that foolishness.

He remembered asking her if she knew who the killer was, but Song Jia had given a negative answer.

Yet his Micro-expressions had not alerted him that Song Jia was lying. Therefore, he had asked that question.

Lie detection ability was the key skill that had made him invincible in solving past cases.

"I have. I studied acting before." A low voice came from Song Jia.

This also resolved the doubt in Chen Mo's heart. His Micro-expressions level needed to be upgraded again.

It wasn't quite enough anymore. If he could have determined that the other party was lying from the very beginning, then the time taken to solve this case could have been even shorter.

Without saying anything else to her, he pushed the door open and walked out.

"How is the situation with Sun Aiguo?" He asked, walking over to Long Hao.

"This Sun Aiguo is interesting; he insisted on waiting for his lawyer to arrive before he was willing to communicate."

"But after Xu Qingqing threw the evidence in his face, he went silent."

Creak. Xu Qingqing walked out of the interrogation room. She looked at Chen Mo and gave an OK gesture.

With this, the case was officially declared solved!

"Yay! We solved it!" Sun Yi, standing in the crowd, cheered immediately.

Her lively demeanor made everyone smile from the heart.

"Haha, into the Top 8!" "Yes, into the Top 8!"

"Congratulations to Officer Chen on entering the Top 8." Xu Qingqing reached out and shook hands with Chen Mo.

"Congratulations to Officer Xu on entering the Top 8 as well."

For a moment, everyone smiled from the heart. The atmosphere was very joyful.

"Congratulations, congratulations!" Sun Tai, who had arrived at everyone's side at some point, offered his congratulations with a happy face.

"This case was also thanks to Captain Sun Tai's help; otherwise, we wouldn't have caught them so quickly." Chen Mo spoke, nodding at him.

"Oh my, you're making me blush with those words." Sun Tai's face reddened, and he waved his hands repeatedly.

But deep down, he developed an immense sense of goodwill toward Chen Mo.

With Chen Mo's endorsement, the leaders wouldn't criticize them too harshly. At least they had put in the effort.

He also made a resolution; there were so many people present, and anyone could have said those words, but only Chen Mo did.

Clearly, the man saw him. He even stood in his shoes to consider the problem.

He secretly vowed that if Chen Mo were ever in trouble in the future, he would do everything in his power to help!

"Please, everyone, move to the conference room; the leaders are already waiting there." Sun Tai made a gesture of invitation.

The leaders he referred to were none other than the four provincial leaders who had been watching the live broadcast through the body cameras on everyone's shoulders.

"Did Uncle Zhuang come too?" Xu Qingqing suddenly spoke, her face showing happiness.

The Uncle Zhuang she mentioned was the Provincial Bureau Chief.

"Yes, the leaders of your respective squads have all come." "Let's go, I'll take you over there." Sun Tai said, walking in front to lead the way.

He didn't stop until they reached a door.
