337: The ancestor's gift

He entered an ancient hall on True Martial Peak.

Wu Ning immediately felt gazes fall upon him.

Inside the hall, a rustic divine wooden long table, exuding the aura of life, was placed in the center. Eight chairs were arranged on each side, and there was also one chair at each end of the long table.

There were eighteen divine wooden chairs in total.

At this moment, fifteen of these chairs were occupied by figures.

The main seat was taken by a middle-aged man in white, bearing at least a seven-tenths resemblance to Wu Wudi, Second Ancestor. His aura was unfathomably deep, and his eyes were incredibly profound, as if containing a vast Universe.

He was quietly gazing at Wu Ning, a gentle smile on his face.

On the first chair to his right sat a woman in white.

Her beauty was exquisite, and she still maintained the appearance of a young girl. Time had left no trace on her, and her face held a gentle smile. Her demeanor was soft and serene, with a hint of scholarly elegance.

She resembled a Young Miss from a scholarly family.

This one should be the Third Ancestor, Weak Water Heavenly Monarch.

The remaining thirteen were the thirteen Dao Venerable Old Ancestors of the Clan.

Ten males and three females.

Basically, all of them were Clones here.

Wu Ning quietly observed them, instantly discerning their Realm of cultivation: three Great Perfection Dao Lords, six Middle Great Dao Lords, and four Lesser Extremity Dao Venerables.

At this moment, they all, by unspoken agreement, directed their gazes at Wu Ning, their eyes revealing various expressions of awe and curiosity.

Wu Wudi, Second Ancestor led Wu Ning to the long table and introduced the people present to him one by one.

“Wu Ning greets Great Ancestor… greets Third Ancestor…”

Wu Ning greeted them one by one.

“Sit, that’s your seat.”

From the main seat, Grand Ancestor Wu Ji smiled faintly, pointing to the chair opposite him.

“Thank you, Great Ancestor.”

Wu Ning sat down as instructed.

Wu Wudi, Second Ancestor also walked to his own seat and sat down, which was the first chair to Grand Ancestor Wu Ji’s left.

A Great Perfection Dao Lord sitting next to him smiled and said, “After waiting eighteen thousand years, we finally get to see the Wu Clan’s peerless Prodigy.”

“Ning’er, after eighteen thousand years of secluded cultivation, have you gained anything?”

Wu Ning nodded, “Thank you, Heavenly Martial Old Ancestor, for your concern. This secluded cultivation indeed brought me a tiny bit of Breakthrough.”

“You Little One are truly a freak!”

Everyone was astonished; eighteen thousand years was not even enough for them to take a nap.

How could one possibly achieve a Breakthrough so casually?

Moreover, if they knew Wu Ning had already advanced to Heavenly Monarch, they would probably jump up in shock.

“If this continues, I’m afraid it won’t be long before you Little One surpass us.”

A Dao Venerable Old Ancestor couldn’t help but sigh with emotion.

“With this Little One’s incredible talent, surpassing us is just around the corner. Perhaps in the near future, our Wu Clan will see the emergence of a supreme existence.”

“Alas, I’m finally experiencing what those people felt when I crushed them with my talent back then…”

As they discussed, the atmosphere quickly became lively.

After a long while.

Grand Ancestor Wu Ji, from the main seat, spoke again:

“Ning’er, you have probably already entered the sights of some Old Man now. When you travel outside in the future, remember to be extra careful.”

“Your talent is unparalleled since ancient times, and you possess extraordinary Opportunity, which will likely attract the covetous eyes of some Old Man.”

“Those Old Man are very insidious, and their methods are unpredictable. You must be extra careful.”

“Thank you, Great Ancestor, for your teachings!”

Wu Ning said respectfully.

“Mm…” Grand Ancestor Wu Ji nodded slightly, then took out two items and placed them before him.

A golden jade slip and a brown bead.

Wu Ning stared at the brown bead, vaguely sensing a terrifying power within it that made his hair stand on end.

Grand Ancestor Wu Ji explained, “The golden jade slip contains a Seal of my Divine Thought Clone. You can carry it with you for emergencies.”

“If you encounter danger, just crush it.”

“That bead is a life-saving trump card my father gave me back then. It contains a strand of Dominator power. It’s not very useful to me now, so I’ll give it to you.”

“A wisp of Divine Thought injected into it can activate it, forming a protective barrier, or releasing a Dominator strike.”

As soon as these words were spoken, everyone’s gaze instantly fell upon the brown bead, their eyes inevitably showing envy.

A life-saving trump card refined by the Great Ancestor, containing a strand of his Old Man’s Dominator power—this was definitely more precious than an Innate supreme treasure.

“Thank you, Great Ancestor, for the treasure.”

Wu Ning took the two items with both hands and carefully put them away.

“Little Ning’er, Third Ancestor doesn’t have anything good on her, so I’ll just give you an immortal divine medicine.”

Weak Water Heavenly Monarch took out an exquisite wooden box and waved it towards Wu Ning.

“Thank you, Third Ancestor.”

Wu Ning took it with both hands and thanked her again.

Seeing this, Wu Wudi, Second Ancestor also had to make a gesture. He took out an ancient spatial ring and gave it to Wu Ning, saying:

“You Little One are not short of treasures, and I don’t have anything good to give you. This ancient ring contains a leg of a Chaotic Giant Beasts.”

“I encountered a Celestial Sovereign Realm Chaotic Giant Beasts in the Chaos Abyss last time, fought it, and cut off one of its legs. I’ll give it to you; it should be able to refine a lot of essence blood.”

Subsequently, the other Dao Venerable Old Ancestors also took out their welcoming gifts, evidently having prepared them in advance.

Wu Ning accepted them all without refusal.

After giving the welcoming gifts, everyone began to chat again.

Everyone present was considered an Old Ancestor of the Clan, only needing to focus on cultivation. They usually didn't have to concern themselves with Clan affairs.

So, each of them was quite idle.

At this moment, most of them were Clones here, including Grand Ancestor Wu Ji and Weak Water Heavenly Monarch, who were also Clones.

Their main bodies were mostly adventuring and cultivating in the Chaos Sea, or traveling in the Myriad Realms.

The topics of their conversation were also major events happening in the Myriad Realms or the Chaos Sea.

Wu Ning listened quietly and learned a lot from their conversations.

For example, certain secrets that Dao Venerables had to keep.

For example, a certain Major Thousand Worlds was suspected of having its Origin stolen...

Most of these were things he had never encountered before.

Different circles naturally meant different levels of information access.

Although his strength was not weak before, he had never really interacted with other Dao Venerable powerhouses.

His source of information basically relied entirely on Ink Treasure.

Half a month later.

Wu Ning left True Martial Peak, but he was not in a hurry to establish a divine peak. He returned directly to Dao Yu Immortal Palace.

He was now considered an Old Ancestor.

He could no longer serve as a Dao Child and should resign.

The Myriad Realms was about to usher in a new golden age, and many Prodigies were emerging within the Wu Clan. Perhaps the next Dao Child would be chosen very soon.

However, this was not something he needed to worry about.

As an Old Ancestor, one only needed to focus on cultivation.

Professional matters required professional people. Managing Clan affairs was the responsibility of the Clan Chief, Clan Elders, and those Elders.

Wu Ning did not stay long in the Clan. He returned directly to Chaos Academy through the Door of All Heavens, intending to see his younger sister first.

It had been nearly twenty thousand years since they last met, and he wondered how that Little One was doing.
