367: Chapter 365: Chaos War, Mysterious Coffin
Pure white wings spread out, and a few white feathers drifted down, carrying a soft white halo.
"Boom!"
The feathers hit the ground, and the earth collapsed, actually smashing out three deep pits tens of miles deep. The shockwaves caused the entire Sky Burial Underworld to tremble, as if the earth were splitting and the heavens were falling.
Not far away, Gu Shengge watched in a daze. This old bastard, Lord Seven Mysteries, was hiding his strength quite deeply!
No, perhaps he should be called the Lord of Systems now!
Gu Shengge warily moved closer to Nangong Jinglan. He had killed too many Systems; if King of Seven Profound attacked him now, he likely wouldn't be able to stop him.
Lord Seven Mysteries did not speak. His body continued to grow taller, and by now, he was level with Nangong Jinglan. The two massive beings stood facing each other without moving, but the atmosphere between them was already enough to suffocate someone.
An invisible pressure spread, affecting the entire Sky Burial Underworld.
Gu Shengge was cautious and quietly retreated.
King of Seven Profound made no move, or rather, he didn't care at all. He had absolute confidence that Gu Shengge could not leave this place.
Before that, he had to deal with the Master of the Underworld before him, Nangong Jinglan!
Facing King of Seven Profound, Nangong Jinglan showed no panic either. After a long, silent confrontation, she gave a cold smile:
"A Lord of Systems? Interesting!"
King of Seven Profound felt the vast and boundless power within him, and the three pairs of wings behind him flapped.
In an instant, the surrounding space shattered, and cracks rapidly spread toward Nangong Jinglan.
He struck first, and his opening move was an inescapable spatial killing technique, locking Nangong Jinglan within that small area, attempting to strangle her with spatial force.
Nangong Jinglan didn't waste words either. She raised her fair, jade-like hand, and the shattered space rippled like waves. Amidst the vibrations, all the spreading cracks were smashed to pieces.
The area they were in instantly fell into Chaos, vast and boundless. Their massive bodies seemed small within the Chaos.
In just a short moment, they had reached the depths of Chaos. Due to the distance, their figures had shrunk significantly in Gu Shengge's eyes, appearing only three or four meters tall, though they could still be clearly seen from the Sky Burial Underworld.
The battle between the two broke out suddenly. After a violent clash of energy, ten thousand Daos chimed together, and the Great Dao Laws within the chaotic space hummed as they bombarded each other.
During the collision, the dao patterns intertwined and connected with each other, releasing energy that grew more terrifying with each burst.
At this moment, they were both unleashing the most ancient and profound techniques and Daos. Just by watching the battle, Gu Shengge felt much, and his comprehension of the Dao deepened rapidly.
After half a month of meditation, Gu Shengge planned to escape quickly while they hadn't returned.
However, after several days of searching, he could only give up in frustration. He still couldn't leave this area; he didn't know what method had been used, and he was forced to remain here.
During this time, he began his meditation again, hoping to make a Breakthrough before their battle ended.
If the winner was Nangong Jinglan, Gu Shengge felt he would likely survive, but if it was King of Seven Profound, he would be in danger.
After several months of meditation, the battle inside had reached a fever pitch.
Within the Chaos, large swathes of chaotic mist were dispersed and evaporated. Residual Great Dao Runes were everywhere, along with terrifying power.
Gu Shengge sensed it; if an ordinary person in the Refining Void Realm went up, they would die instantly!
While shocked, Gu Shengge was also considering how to deal with the winner. From the look of things, escaping was definitely out of the question, so he could only find a way to hide.
In this regard, Gu Shengge actually had an advantage. With the jade disc of creation concealing heavenly secrets, it was almost impossible to find him!
After thinking for a while, Gu Shengge chose a place where mountain ranges converged. This place was very close to where Nangong Jinglan had previously emerged. He would hide right under her nose; when she eventually went into slumber, he would then find a way to leave.
He could also monitor her normally; perhaps he could even find a way out.
Gu Shengge acted immediately. He had originally wanted to directly construct a spatial layer and use the jade disc of creation to stabilize it and conceal heavenly secrets, but with a powerhouse like her, if she became enraged, the surrounding space would likely shatter.
At that time, his spatial layer would probably be exposed.
Gu Shengge walked into a cave, a very ordinary place. It was pitch black inside, with no luminous pearls or Spirit Treasures for illumination.
As Gu Shengge walked deeper, he found that the tunnels inside branched out in all directions, just like a maze.
Gu Shengge only wanted to hide now, so he didn't care much and simply followed his instincts through the tunnels.
After walking for more than an hour, Gu Shengge felt it was enough and prepared to find a spot to construct a shielding Formation.
After a few turns, he arrived at a vast Underground Palace. The spiritual light in his palm was bright, yet it could only illuminate a portion of the area; many places remained shrouded in darkness.
Under the light, he could see that this seemed to be a grand hall. In the center was a circular stone table, with wooden chairs on both sides. He didn't know what material they were made of, but they hadn't rotted and were even spotless.
However, the people sitting on them had already been reduced to skeletons, with thick layers of dust accumulated on their bodies.
Looking through the side of the tattered clothing, Gu Shengge could only see withered bones.
The chair at the head of the table was empty, and upon it lay a blood-stained broken sword.
Gu Shengge suspected this seat belonged to Nangong Jinglan, and that he might have stumbled upon her place of slumber!
Gu Shengge wanted to retreat, but thinking that he still had to deal with her to find a way out, he stepped forward to investigate.
The spiritual light in his hand flared, illuminating a wider area. The circular Underground Palace was estimated to be two li in diameter. Gu Shengge was in the lower-middle section; further up were shattered ruins where buildings might have once stood.
Gu Shengge glanced at the broken sword stained with dark red blood on the table and headed toward the deeper areas.
In the upper area, there were many ruined buildings and even some withered bones holding damaged weapons. Gu Shengge accidentally stepped on a blade and crushed it instantly.
Under the erosion of time, it was as brittle as a withered leaf.
After advancing several hundred meters, Gu Shengge saw a Golden Sarcophagus covered in densely packed runes, incredibly complex.
Gu Shengge only took a few glances before his head felt dizzy, as if he might faint at any moment.
He quickly withdrew his gaze, the power of his Double Pupils surging in his eyes. These runes possessed a mysterious power that could erode one's mind. Fortunately, the innate perception of the Double Pupils warded off most of the power, preventing Gu Shengge from losing his mind.
Beside the Golden Sarcophagus stood twelve statues. Their forms were slender and tall, like poles, with hands half-raised, holding objects resembling scepters.
"Rumble!"
As Gu Shengge was investigating, the Golden Sarcophagus suddenly vibrated, giving him a jolt. (End of chapter)
