192: Find something
"Not human?"
Chen Xuan's words were like a clap of thunder, exploding in Wang Er's mind.
His pupils constricted suddenly as he instantly realized: "The... the Yao Race!"
At this thought, the spiritual power within Wang Er's body surged frantically. Pale green spiritual power swirled around his body as he looked warily at this uninvited guest.
The visitor's sleeves were covered in dried bloodstains, and the aura of that blood was clearly identical to the blood of the Haotian Sect Disciples in the square!
This meant that the member of the Yao Race before him was the culprit who had wiped out the Haotian Sect! Wang Er subconsciously swallowed hard, his back instantly drenched in cold sweat. To be able to silently break the mountain-protecting array and kill a Sect Master at the Fifth Level of Soul Transformation Stage, this demon's cultivation base must be at least at the Eighth Level of Soul Transformation Stage, or perhaps even higher!
Hu Chi glanced at the two of them and spoke with some surprise, "I thought Daoist Yun Luo and the others who went out had returned."
"You made me wait all this time for nothing!"
"However, since you've seen through my true form, I naturally can't let you leave alive."
"Of course," he paused, the corners of his mouth curling up as the Evil Qi around him grew denser, "even if you hadn't, the result would be the same. As you humans say, 'those who are not of my race must be eliminated upon sight.'"
Chen Xuan stood in place, his expression remaining calm, and even gave a faint smile. "What a coincidence, I feel the same way."
His gaze narrowed slightly as he looked at Hu Chi. "I'm just a bit curious; you said earlier you were waiting for Daoist Yun Luo and the others to return. It seems your attack on the Haotian Sect wasn't purely for the sake of slaughter."
"I'm in no mood to waste words with dead men!"
Hu Chi gave a sudden low growl, and before his voice had even faded, his tall body moved!
The figure originally standing in the center of the hall instantly transformed into a black afterimage. Moving with extreme speed, the resulting gale swept up debris and dust from the floor as he lunged toward Chen Xuan.
Hu Chi's left arm suddenly tensed, his muscles bulging like small hills. As his right hand formed a claw, he flicked his left sleeve, and three dark yellow Talismans shot out. The Talismans ignited in mid-air, transforming into three earthen-yellow tiger phantoms with bared fangs. Each was about ten feet tall. As their claws struck the ground, several deep fissures cracked open, surrounding Chen Xuan from four sides along with Hu Chi himself. He had clearly achieved a perfect Fusion of Talisman techniques and his own Demonic Power.
Wang Er's heart jolted violently. He felt that the pressure carried by those three tiger phantoms was even more terrifying than a full-power strike from an ordinary Early Stage Soul Transformation Cultivator.
The grade of these Talismans seemed to be quite high!
Facing this storm-like offensive, Chen Xuan remained standing where he was, the hem of his white robes barely fluttering in the gale.
He glanced at the lunging Hu Chi and the three tiger phantoms, his lips curling into a faint smile instead. "I, on the other hand, am in the mood to say one thing to a dying demon like you. Looking for Daoist Yun Luo? I'll send you down to meet him right now."
As he finished speaking, Chen Xuan finally raised a finger. There was no world-shaking explosion of spiritual power; he merely tapped lightly in the Void Realm.
"Buzz—!"
A pale golden point of light escaped from his fingertip. It seemed slow, yet it instantly crossed several yards and accurately struck the center of the leftmost earthen-yellow tiger phantom's forehead.
In the next second, the tiger phantom that could crush rocks dissipated like a bubble, and the burning Talisman in the air turned to ash with it. Then, the point of light moved again, and two more golden flashes flickered. The remaining two tiger phantoms shattered just as easily, failing to stir even the slightest ripple.
Seeing this, Hu Chi's crimson pupils constricted slightly.
He had thought the opponent was at most at the fifth or sixth level of the Soul Transformation Realm, but he hadn't expected him to break his Talismans so easily! He was certainly much more formidable than that Daoist on the wall.
He let out a roar, his speed increasing by another thirty percent as his claws aimed straight for Chen Xuan's heart!
Seeing this, Chen Xuan slowly stepped aside, his movements as light as a leisurely stroll, perfectly evading the claw that could rend metal and stone.
At the same time, his right hand lightly struck out with a palm toward Hu Chi's shoulder. There was no roar of colliding spiritual power, only a muffled thud.
Hu Chi felt an irresistible, massive force transmit from his shoulder. His entire Demonic Power instantly became sluggish, and he was sent flying dozens of yards. His feet carved two deep furrows into the ground before he barely managed to steady himself.
From amidst the dust, he looked up at the white-robed Cultivator who still appeared calm and unruffled. "You're saying... Daoist Yun Luo died at your hands?"
"Then his storage ring was taken by you as well?"
Chen Xuan withdrew his hand and said indifferently, "What? Could it be that this beast's goal was that?"
Hu Chi's expression grew a bit more serious. "Hand over that storage ring obediently, and I can give you a quick death."
He had been ordered to come to the Haotian Sect this time to retrieve a dark-golden register—a register that Yu Tianxiang had luckily obtained in the Rain God Continent.
But he hadn't expected that upon arriving in this Flame Continent, he would learn that the kid had gone to another world. After waiting patiently for a few days, he heard that Elder Yu's group was missing and had not returned to the Sect.
Feeling irritable, Hu Chi truly lacked the patience to keep waiting, so he chose to slaughter the entire Haotian Sect and check their storage rings one by one.
And wait for Daoist Yun Luo's return to the Sect while he was at it.
"I see!" Chen Xuan gave a casual wave, and an ink-colored storage ring appeared in his hand. He chuckled. "So you went through all this trouble to slaughter the Haotian Sect just to find something in a storage ring?"
"A Medicinal Pill, a Magic Treasure, a Divine Ability, or something else?"
Seeing that Chen Xuan had directly exposed his thoughts, Hu Chi stopped pretending. "You refuse the easy way only to take the hard way!"
Hu Chi let out a low growl, and the black Demonic Qi around him suddenly surged, rolling through the air like ink.
His body blurred as he left an afterimage in place. His true self, carrying violent Demonic Power, lunged straight at the Man in White Robes. The black Demonic Qi condensed into three-inch-long blades of Demonic Power, their sharpness carrying a strong corrosive aura.
This strike was even more rapid than before, as if even space itself was being carved with a black trail.
Watching from the side, Wang Er's mind was shaken, and his pupils constricted. From Hu Chi's first move, he had retreated to a corner as timidly as a quail.
A battle between Soul Transformation experts was not something a small fry at the Fourth Level of Soul Out-of-Body Stage like him could interfere in.
He subconsciously held his breath, his eyes fixed intently on Senior Chen.
Chen Xuan remained calm. Putting away the storage ring, he pressed his right fingers together and slashed lightly like a sharp sword.
A pale golden Sword Qi escaped from his fingertip. Though it seemed weak, it accurately collided with Hu Chi's Demonic Power claws.
"Screech—!"
The moment the Sword Qi collided with the black Demonic Qi, a piercing corrosive sound rang out.
Hu Chi felt a sharp aura travel up from his claws, numbing his arm. The condensed blades of Demonic Power were actually shattered directly by this pale green Sword Qi!
He was startled, and before he could react, Chen Xuan's figure appeared on his left like a ghost. His right hand struck again, the Sword Qi from his fingertips slashing three times, landing on Hu Chi's shoulder, chest, and waist respectively.
"Puff! Puff! Puff!"
With three soft sounds, the clothes on Hu Chi's body tore. Three bone-deep wounds were instantly slashed open by the Sword Qi. Black demonic blood spurted out, splashing onto the ground and corroding small pits into the bluestone slabs.
