480: Chapter 480 Disposal

Heavenly Venerable Mogong gazed at the head floating in mid-air, gazing at the pitch-black Slave Seal, and remained silent for a long time.

He exhaled heavily, his voice as light as a wisp of wind:

"Xiao Lang, you can rest in peace now." That name escaped his lips, carrying an indescribable bitterness.

It was as if he had suddenly aged a hundred years in an instant.

Medicine Venerable stood with his hands behind his back, gazed at the head, remained silent for a long time, and then slowly spoke: "Pitiable, pathetic, and hateful."

Pitiable!

A dignified Tribulation Transcendence Realm Cultivator, who had roamed the Nine Prefectures for hundreds of years, had ended up as nothing more than a marionette, manipulated by others for over five hundred years, unable to even control its own life and death.

Pathetic!

The four characters 'Great Love Immortal Venerable' were once a mark of such glory and high reputation. But from now on, these four characters would be reviled by the world for a thousand, or even ten thousand years. When people mention it, they will only remember it as a servant of the Yao Race, and will not remember its past achievements.

Hateful!

What about those sages who died in vain, those kin it sent to their graves with its own hands—who will repay their lives?

Heavenly Venerable Mogong withdrew his gaze, turned to face Chen Xuan, crossed his hands, and bowed solemnly. His posture was as straight as a sword, yet this bow was extremely deep.

"Sect Master Chen, this matter means I, Guan Lingyu, owe you a favor." His voice was as clear as a spring, "Should you have any needs in the future, just send a message to Tiangong Pavilion."

"No matter what it is."

Going through fire and water, Brother Chen!

This phrase inexplicably popped into Chen Xuan's mind.

He waved his hand, his expression indifferent: "Fellow Daoist, you are too polite."

Although he could say a few polite words, there was no need.

This trip to Huangji Prefecture had not only yielded two god-rank magic treasures, the Soul-Devouring Blade and the Eternal Evergreen Lamp, but also a promise of "no matter what" from a Heavenly Venerable. This Peak Experience Card had been the most worthwhile one yet.

Beside him, Mystic Talisman Heavenly Venerable hesitated for a long time before finally being unable to help herself from speaking.

She looked at Chen Xuan: "Chen... Sect Master Chen, I wonder how you intend to deal with this Wansheng Dao Court?"

Chen Xuan pondered for a moment, his gaze sweeping over the towering Dao Court below, and over the Disciples of the Wansheng Dao Court who were pale and looked as if they had lost their parents, before speaking indifferently:

"The Great Love Immortal Venerable was enslaved for hundreds of years; its claws and teeth must run deep."

He paused and added:

"When I left the discussion last time, I encountered an ambush by Yuling Valley Cultivators. Every one of them had been implanted with a Slave Seal. The subordinate forces of the Wansheng Dao Court must be investigated one by one; not a single one can be missed."

"Ordinary Disciples within the sect shall be imprisoned for a hundred years, then set free. Anyone above the rank of Elder shall be purged. Better to kill the wrong ones than to let a single one go."

Chen Xuan continued slowly: "Now that the Yao Race's influence is gradually growing, I fear that once the Great Love Immortal Venerable is dead, they will soon make a move. The Nine Prefectures cannot withstand any more turmoil; there must absolutely not be any more incidents."

Mystic Talisman Heavenly Venerable was silent for a moment, and finally sighed softly.

"Let me handle this matter."

Her voice carried an indescribable exhaustion, "I have some old ties with the Wansheng Dao Court. Let me... send them on their final journey; it will be a way to fulfill that friendship."

Chen Xuan did not mind this and simply nodded.

"There is one person,"

He suddenly spoke, his gaze shifting slightly, "I need to talk to him personally."

Dressed in flowing white robes, he stepped through the air. Every step he took on the Void Realm produced a dull thud, like the footsteps of the Grim Reaper, striking the hearts of everyone present one by one.

The many Cultivators of the Wansheng Dao Court had no choice but to push to the sides, clearing a wide path,

even though this person was the one who had killed their Sect Master.

Are you joking? He had three Heavenly Venerables following behind him; who would dare not yield?

Li Xuantong sat slumped at the edge of the plaza, his face ashen, his whole body trembling like a sieve. He wanted to stand up and run away, but he found his legs were as soft as two lumps of mud, refusing to obey him.

Until those cloud-patterned boots stopped in front of him, no more than three feet away.

"Elder Li."

"I am... here..."

Li Xuantong's teeth chattered, and he struggled to squeeze out a word.

Chen Xuan looked down at him: "Fellow Daoist, trust you have been well? I heard that you did quite a few things for my Dao Seeking Sect while in the Secret Realm. Tell me, how should I thank you?"

Li Xuantong stiffened, his complexion turning from ashen to deathly pale, his lips trembling violently.

"Don't be polite, speak boldly."

Li Xuantong trembled violently, and suddenly, he knelt on the ground and kowtowed frantically: "Spare me, spare me, Sect Master Chen! I was forced into it; it was the order of the Immortal Venerable, I had no choice... I beg you to spare my dog's life..."

"A dog's life?" Chen Xuan laughed, "It is indeed a dog's life."

The Great Love Immortal Venerable has already been slain by me, yet you still try to use it as a shield.

Chen Xuan raised his hand.

A white sword light shot out from his fingertips, fast as lightning, silent and traceless.

As the sword light swept past, Li Xuantong's movements suddenly froze.

A blood line as thin as a hair slowly appeared on his neck.

"You..."

He widened his eyes, wanting to say something, but as he opened his mouth, only a vague wheezing sound escaped.

The next second, his head slid from his neck, rolling several feet away, leaving a shocking trail of blood on the ground. The headless body swayed and then collapsed with a thud, its limbs still twitching slightly.

Fresh blood gushed from the severed neck, staining the bluestone slab a blinding crimson.

Chen Xuan withdrew his hand, "It would be easy for me to spare you, but this sword strike is for the creatures in Black Wind Valley who were slaughtered."

My little mice are all affectionate and righteous.

Everyone's gaze fell upon the headless corpse, upon the pool of blood that was still spreading, and upon that white-clad silhouette; no one dared to make a sound.

Chen Xuan casually put away his sword, then looked up at Mystic Talisman Heavenly Venerable, who was suspended in mid-air.

"Do it." His voice was not loud, but it clearly reached the ears of everyone present. "Anyone above the rank of Elder, leave none alive."

Mystic Talisman Heavenly Venerable was slightly taken aback, then nodded gently, without saying anything more.

Immediately after, a silver-white crack suddenly tore open in the Void Realm, and accompanied by a clear, resonant hoof-call, the Baize leaped out from the crack.

The auspicious Divine Beast, pure white all over, stood in the air. Clouds and mist swirled beneath its four hooves, and a faint halo surrounded its body. Its expression was one of disdain, as if nothing in this world was worth a second glance.

Chen Xuan mounted the Baize's back and patted its neck.

The Baize let out a low whinny, its hooves stepping on the clouds, and with a flash, it and the white-clad figure vanished from the spot, leaving only a faint silver-white trail of light that slowly dissipated in the Void Realm.

On the plaza, the Disciples of the Wansheng Dao Court were ashen-faced, slumped on the ground. The Elders were livid; some wanted to run away but were pinned in place by a single glance from Heavenly Venerable Mogong; others wanted to resist, only to find that most of the spiritual energy in their bodies had been sealed off at some unknown point.
