417: Chapter 417 Taiyin Spiritual Body
After Mu Wanqing and Yun Xuanxuan stepped through that ancient and heavy gate together, the scene before their eyes suddenly twisted.
One moment they were in an underground palace, and the next, heavenly light poured down as clouds and mist surged, the aura around them shifting abruptly.
Beneath their feet was a cold, smooth jade floor shimmering with a faint white glow, stretching as far as the eye could see. Mist swirled around them, Immortal Qi permeated the air, and there was no sound of human voices, no sign of their companions, not even a trace of wind.
"What's... going on?"
Mu Wanqing's expression tightened, and she instinctively moved closer to Yun Xuanxuan. "Junior Sister..."
But before she could finish, the white jade beneath them suddenly glowed with a hazy silver light, and space twisted as if being torn apart. By the time Mu Wanqing regained her footing, Yun Xuanxuan was nowhere to be found, replaced instead by the summit of a vast mountain range.
Fierce winds howled and a sea of clouds churned. Dilapidated altars stood atop the peaks, where countless Cultivators dressed in Daoist robes stood solemnly, the atmosphere as heavy as oppressive black clouds.
Mu Wanqing's mind trembled, and for a moment she was unable to move, only able to watch everything before her in silence.
Atop a high platform, a man in green stood with his hands behind his back. His gaze swept over all the Cultivators present, his voice resolute:
"Tomorrow will be the final battle against the Yao Race."
"In this battle... we are certain to die."
As his words fell, the mountains fell silent.
There was no uproar, no fear—only calm faces that had long since looked past life and death.
"But as long as we can delay this battle for three double-hours, until the Formation reaches Major Achievement and isolates this place from the Nine Provinces Continent, that will be a victory for our Human Race."
"As for the outcome a hundred or a thousand years from now, we have no way of knowing. But for now, we have no choice—for our friends and family, for the homeland behind us, we must fight to the death here and not yield an inch."
"Defend to the end, die without regret!"
"Defend to the end, die without regret!"
Tens of millions of Cultivators shouted in unison, their voices shaking the clouds and soaring straight into the Nine Heavens.
Standing outside the crowd, Mu Wanqing's heart clenched tightly.
"Is this... a vision from eternity ago?"
The next moment, the scene changed abruptly.
The sky and earth turned dark as blood filled the air, and piercing demonic roars tore through the firmament. A hideous giant demon broke through the defensive line, its sharp claws sweeping across, sending several Cultivators' blood spraying into the sky.
Mu Wanqing instinctively tensed her body and prepared to circulate her Spiritual Qi to form a barrier in front of her.
At that moment, a moon-white figure swept in like a startled swan, resembling a banished immortal from the moon treading on the wind.
The woman's figure was cold and upright, her moon-white skirt fluttering wildly amidst the wind and rain of blood. The faint moonlight swirling around her was like a veil of light untainted by dust, isolating the surrounding blood-scented air. Her movements were incredibly fast and decisive; the moonlight at her fingertips, like condensed dew, suddenly surged and transformed into a several-zhang-long bright moon blade, slashing through the air.
"Shua—"
A sharp whistle pierced the air, and wherever the moon blade passed, even the air seemed to be sliced apart. That hideous giant demon didn't even have time to scream before its head soared into the air, hot blood spraying three feet and staining the hem of the woman's white skirt. She didn't stay for even a second, turning back to plunge into the vast fray once more.
Sword light flowed and moonlight flickered. The woman's movements were as agile as a ghost; with every flick of her sleeve and every point of her finger, a demonic beast's head was severed, its armor shattered, or its belly pierced.
She was like a tiger among sheep, or rather like a peerless divine sword unsheathed, leading the thousands of Cultivators behind her to carve a path through the Formation. Wherever she went, Demonic Beasts fell one after another, as she forcibly tore a gap in the dense demonic Formation.
Standing outside the Void Realm, Mu Wanqing watched with a trembling heart, her eyes filled with shock and admiration.
Meanwhile, the thousands of Cultivators behind her fell one by one, only to transform into wisps of Yin Qi and reform.
Gradually, none of the people in the massive group behind the woman remained alive, yet they moved like an army of the dead, never stopping for a single step.
"Watch out!"
Suddenly, Mu Wanqing's pupils contracted, and she cried out in alarm.
Deep within the demonic Formation, a venomous scorpion the size of a millstone lay in wait. Seizing the gap while the woman was slaying a demon general, it lunged out, its giant pincers clamping onto her body like lightning.
Immediately after, the barbed stinger on the scorpion's tail suddenly shot out with a whistling sound, ruthlessly piercing through her chest!
"Puff—"
Blood sprayed, staining her moon-white dress red. The woman groaned, her body trembling slightly, but she still gritted her teeth and struggled to break free.
A sharp pain struck Mu Wanqing's heart. She instinctively took out the Yin-Yang Rings, and as she infused them with spiritual power, the rings glowed with black and white light. She prepared to break through the barrier of time and space to save her.
But at that moment, the woman suddenly looked up, her gaze seemingly piercing through endless time and space to meet Mu Wanqing's. In those eyes, there was no pain or resentment, only a sense of relief and expectation.
The next moment, her body transformed into a wisp of extremely pure silver-white Supreme Yin Qi, breaking free from the scorpion's pincers and surging into Mu Wanqing's body like a shooting star.
It was cold, but not bone-chilling.
It was freezing, but not harmful.
The pores all over Mu Wanqing's body opened involuntarily, greedily absorbing this aura. She felt warm all over, as if soaking in the most comfortable spiritual spring.
The next moment, the scene shifted and flowed once more.
One Cultivator fell, then another perished. As each figure dissipated and each aura was extinguished, a wisp of cool and gentle silver-white aura would quietly flow into Mu Wanqing's body.
That aura was docile and pure, soaking into her heart and flowing slowly through her Meridians, silently nourishing her Physical Body and Spiritual Root.
Mu Wanqing was bewildered.
She didn't understand why the power of others dying would flow into her own body.
Just as her mind was shaken and she was filled with confusion, a soft, distant female voice, seemingly from eternity ago, sounded gently in her ear. It carried no pressure but held a clear understanding of the Origin:
"The Supreme Yin Spiritual Body, seen once in a thousand years."
"The sorrow of the living, the regrets of the dead, the lingering thoughts, the unyielding souls... all are embraced by the Supreme Yin, and all can be transformed into your Origin."
"The paths they did not finish, the ambitions unfulfilled, the protection incomplete... from now on, you shall inherit them."
Mu Wanqing turned her head and saw that cold and elegant woman from before.
"Senior, you..."
A soft curve appeared at the corner of the woman's mouth. "I too was once a Supreme Yin Spiritual Body. That we can meet across these endless years is due to the mysterious pull of this Physique."
"Then those scenes from before were..."
"Those were the final battle we fought against the Yao Race back then."
The woman's voice was gentle and calm, without any sense of sorrow or regret. "What you saw was not a real reenactment, but the lingering obsessions in the hearts of us fallen Cultivators—thoughts of protection, regrets of unwillingness, and the hope for the continuation of the Supreme Yin heritage."
"What should this Junior do?"
Mu Wanqing's round, oval face was filled with solemnity, her almond eyes staring directly at the woman beside her.
The woman reached out and gently pressed her shoulder. "There is no need to do anything intentionally. Just keep your mind free of distractions and accept everything with your whole heart. These obsessions share the same source as the Supreme Yin Origin and will become your nourishment, helping your spiritual body reach Perfection. Remember, do not be disturbed by the joys, sorrows, or attachments of the past. Keep your heart true, and only then can you inherit this eternal Legacy."
"A spiritual body born of heaven, do not forget your original intention. If you should one day embark upon the immortal path, remember the Dao of Supreme Yin: take protection as the foundation and tranquility as the soul."
