Chapter 65 [The Savior Cult Relies Entirely on Luck]
"Why are we back at your place?"
Bu Yao, who had been dragged all the way to the front door by Gu Ye, only realized it after her face pressed against Gu Ye's back. Her little face scrunched up, and she looked at Gu Ye with bewildered eyes, her tone carrying a hint of lingering shock.
Watching her slow reaction, Gu Ye silently grumbled to himself, "This Little Loli is not only a bit black-bellied but also a bit slow to react."
He helplessly spread his hands, his tone teasing, "What else? If I didn't drag you away quickly, should I have stayed there, waiting for that Fallen One to kill us both?"
"Aren't I a Gold-rank Card Master?" Bu Yao blinked her large, watery eyes, looking increasingly puzzled. Her little face was filled with an innocent expression that read, "I'm very strong, there's no need to run at all."
Upon hearing this, the smile on Gu Ye's face froze instantly. He then scratched his head awkwardly and gave two dry coughs.
To be honest, Bu Yao's petite, delicate, and porcelain-doll-like appearance was truly deceptive. In the urgency of the moment, he had subconsciously forgotten that this seemingly weak Little Loli was actually a bona fide Gold-rank Card Master, more than a level stronger than him.
Seeing this, Bu Yao realized that Gu Ye had forgotten her strength. She proudly lifted her chin and waved her hand with an air of seasoned maturity, looking like someone who wouldn't hold a grudge against a lesser person:
"Forget it, forget it. I won't hold it against you. When I acted back then, it was just because I couldn't bear to see human suffering and wanted to help that bullied young man."
"Now that he has become a Fallen One, he's long past saving. Even if we went back, his body would probably have already been transported to the crematorium by the guards and burned into fertilizer."
After speaking, she didn't wait for Gu Ye's response and walked towards the sofa in the living room.
She skillfully pulled the holographic glasses from her pocket, put them on, and her fingers swiped rapidly across the virtual screen. In the blink of an eye, she entered the game interface.
She occasionally blurted out game terminology, instantly casting the recent shock at the Domain Gate Area to the back of her mind.
Gu Ye walked into the kitchen and started making dinner.
An hour later, the sound of sizzling stir-fry came from the kitchen, and a rich, alluring aroma wafted out through the door crack, instantly filling the entire living room.
Bu Yao, who was engrossed in playing, twitched her little nose slightly. She reached out, took off her holographic glasses, stared in the direction of the kitchen, her eyes brightening, and trotted into the kitchen.
Bu Yao saw Gu Ye reach out and pick a piece of meat off the spatula, feed it into his mouth, chew it a few times, and nod in satisfaction.
"Gu Ye, you're actually eating alone!" Bu Yao's angry voice came from behind him.
Gu Ye turned to look. Bu Yao stood at the kitchen door like a bristling kitten, hands on her hips.
"You're just in time. Take these dishes to the table, and we can eat."
As soon as he finished speaking, the angry expression on Bu Yao's face melted away like ice and snow, quickly replaced by a soft, cute, and sweet smile. Her eyes curved into crescent moons, and her tone became incredibly soft and sweet: "Yes, sir! I'm coming right now!"
Excitement in her eyes, Bu Yao walked quickly to the counter, looking at the exquisite and alluring food in front of her.
She couldn't help but reach out her little hand, closing her index finger and thumb, wanting to pinch a piece of chicken.
"Smack!" A dark shadow suddenly struck her hand. Gu Ye glared at her, "You haven't washed your hands!"
Bu Yao stuck out her tongue, chuckled, and without getting angry, quickly picked up two plates of food and ran out of the kitchen.
Before long, all the dishes were brought to the dining table. It was a table full of food, fragrant and mouth-watering.
Bu Yao couldn't wait to sit in her chair, picked up her chopsticks, grabbed a piece of chicken, opened her little mouth wide, and stuffed it in.
After chewing twice, she looked blissful, "Gu Ye, your cooking is really delicious. It's a type I've never eaten before."
She shoveled a few bites of rice and continued to pick up different dishes to try different flavors.
"If it's delicious, eat more." Gu Ye said with a calm face, his hands moving quickly to pick up food.
After they were full, Gu Ye ordered, "You go wash the dishes."
"What? You're actually asking a Gold-rank Card Master to wash dishes? No way." Bu Yao looked incredulous and protested.
"Protest denied, unless you don't want to eat this food again." Gu Ye threatened.
"You..."
Bu Yao snorted, raised her hand to summon a skeleton, and ordered it to wash the dishes.
The skeleton seemed to have consciousness; upon hearing Bu Yao tell it to come out, not to fight, but to wash dishes, it was very reluctant. After being glared at by Bu Yao, it fearfully walked towards the kitchen.
Bu Yao lay lazily on the sofa, stretched, puffed out her flat chest, kicked off her thick-soled wooden shoes, revealing her five alluring little toes, curled up into a ball, and asked casually:
"Didn't you and Ning Shijun go to the slums last time? How did you answer his question back then?"
"I haven't answered him yet, but I've already decided. I'm not participating in your affairs."
Upon hearing his words, Bu Yao looked calm, seemingly not surprised.
"If you don't participate, then don't! As Ning Shijun's nephew, he will keep you safe for life."
"Hmm!" There was a hint of struggle in Gu Ye's eyes, which finally turned into determination. He looked at Bu Yao, "Wait a moment. After you go back, tell Uncle Jun to come here tomorrow."
Hearing Bu Yao's next sentence, Gu Ye fell silent.
"I'm not going back. From now on, I'm living at your place."
"???"
"The task Ning Shijun gave me is to protect you closely, so of course I have to live at your house."
Gu Ye had been thinking about how to send her back, but now it wasn't necessary. "Fine."
Besides, having a little beauty at home was pleasing to the eye. As for the [Furnace], no one could see it, so Gu Ye wasn't afraid that Bu Yao would discover it.
Bu Yao changed to a more comfortable position and continued: "In a while, I'll help you contact him. I don't know if I can reach him; it depends on whether he has returned."
"Fine..."
In the next few days, besides practicing his Card Master skills, Gu Ye spent his time reselling card-making materials. Now, his card-making materials had a specialized channel, which was Bu Yao's organization.
As for coveting his meager card-making materials, they were overthinking it. If they were really short on card-making materials, Ning Shijun wouldn't have returned the Gold-rank card.
What they were doing, if it really came to a fight, would require a lot of money. Judging from the various signs from Bu Yao, they were well-prepared and, waiting for the right moment, could shake the entire Federation.
Through several days of understanding, what made Gu Ye unable to keep it together most was that the name of Bu Yao's organization was very strange: "Relying Entirely on Luck Salvation Cult."
This name was actually chosen by Ning Shijun. Bu Yao and another elder didn't agree with this name, and Bu Yao's reason was that it lacked class.
The reason Ning Shijun chose such a name was because his life had relied entirely on luck to get to where he was today, and the other two were not much different.
