658: Chapter 658 Rebirth of a Severed Arm

After putting away the Origin Pearl, Qin Chen looked out the window.

Moonlight spilled across the ground.

It was quiet outside the courtyard; not even the chirping of insects could be heard—all those mosquitoes, mice, and ants had been wiped out by Liu Jinfeng.

Ten days ago, Qin Chen was still in this Nanjiang City.

Back then, he felt everything was novel and beautiful.

Only ten days had passed, but his feelings had completely changed.

What he saw before were just superficial appearances; now, he saw only darkness—scheming, slaughter, betrayal; he had seen all the ugliness of human nature.

No wonder the higher the cultivation, the more heartless one becomes; having seen so much, one eventually becomes numb.

Taking a glance at the chaos throughout Nanjiang City, he suddenly thought of Kuang Yuntao. With a shift of his will, his Divine Thought blanketed the City Lord's Mansion.

Kuang Yuntao and Kuang Min were not asleep; they were still arguing in the living room.

"Father, if you continue like this, sooner or later you will implicate the entire Kuang Clan."

"Long hair, short insight!" Kuang Yuntao slammed the table. "What do you know? If I didn't do this, would this position of City Lord ever come to me?"

"Father, just listen to me once." Kuang Min's voice carried a sob. "Stop killing innocent people indiscriminately; there will be no good end to it."

Kuang Yuntao's voice sank: "Get out. It's not your place to teach me how to do things. If it weren't for me, our family would have been wiped out by our opponents long ago. You want me to stop now? Where would the resources come from? Waiting for pies to fall from the sky?"

Kuang Min's eyes reddened: "Father, ever since Mother passed away, you've changed. Have you ever thought about this family?"

"And what have you done for this family?"

Kuang Min paused, took a deep breath, and lowered her voice: "Father, I met someone a few days ago. He killed the Chief Inspector with ease and wiped out the Xiong Clan."

Kuang Yuntao sat up straight abruptly: "Really? Where is this person? What does he look like? Tell me in detail!"

"Father, don't you understand yet? The Nine Dragons Gang, the Jin Clan, the Xiong Clan—it's possible he did all of it. How much longer will you be stubborn?"

"What does their destruction have to do with me?" Kuang Yuntao sneered. "I am the City Lord of Nanjiang City, with the Great Yan Dynasty behind me. That person wiped out those three families, but didn't he dare not touch my City Lord's Mansion?"

Qin Chen listened to the father and daughter's quarrel and suddenly thought of Qin Yao.

With their differing values, this father and daughter would likely have no peace in the future.

It was strange, to say the least.

Watching them argue, the killing intent in Qin Chen's heart inexplicably faded.

It wasn't like this ten days ago.

Back then, when he had just arrived in Nanjiang City, his mind was filled only with thoughts of how to slaughter all these people.

At that time, he always felt threats from all directions, completely lacking a sense of security. Perhaps it was because he lacked that sense of security that he seemed irritable.

Now, looking at it again?

The two of them were arguing until their faces were red, all over trivial matters.

Life is so short, yet they are still fighting over these things.

Of course, in Qin Chen's eyes, these were indeed trivial matters.

Not to mention the interests of a City Lord, even the entire Great Yan Dynasty didn't mean much to him now.

He used to think home was the Qin Mansion.

After his strength improved, he felt home was in Longyang Town.

Later on, he felt home was in the Great Yan Dynasty.

Now, he felt that the Tianhuang Continent was his home.

Looking at the tens of billions of people on the Tianhuang Continent, he felt a sense of shared fate.

Perhaps it was because his strength had grown, and his state of mind was different.

Thinking about it, he decided to spare the Kuang Clan for the time being.

After all, the culprit, Ji Bin, was already wishing for death.

Thinking of Ji Bin, he shifted his Divine Thought to that mine.

In the mass grave near the mine, Ji Bin's corpse had been thrown there and no longer resembled a human form.

A flock of vultures was tearing at the flesh of the corpse, making it unrecognizable.

Looking at Ji Bin's end, Qin Chen felt a wave of emotion.

Fate—who can ever say for sure?

Perhaps an inconspicuous little person might one day stir up the winds and clouds.

Perhaps an Immortal who was once high and mighty might end up as nothing more than a pile of mud in a mass grave.

After exhaling a breath of turbid air, his Divine Thought swept over Longyang Town.

In the backyard of the Liu Family Medicinal Materials Firm, Liu Caiping was meditating in her room.

Outside the room, a Five Elements Formation was set up; this Formation could defend and attack, and could also block the Divine Thought exploration of low-level Cultivators.

Qin Chen's Divine Thought circled around, not disturbing her, and then looked toward the Qin Mansion.

Inside the Qin Mansion, his parents were still sleeping.

In the room of the side courtyard, Chu Chu had fallen asleep beside Mother Chu's bed, her mouth crooked, still carrying a smile.

Mother Chu opened her eyes and, seeing her daughter's appearance, felt a pang of soreness in her nose. She wanted to carry Chu Chu to the bed, but couldn't lift her, so she had to cover her daughter with a quilt.

After withdrawing his Divine Thought, Qin Chen thought of another pitiful person—Feier.

He spread his Divine Thought out again, landing on the Drunken Immortal Tower on the riverside street in the west of the city, ten miles away.

In a room in the backyard, Feier was huddled in the corner of the bed, crying while holding that rotten, severed arm.

"Father, Mother, woo woo woo..."

"I miss you so much."

"I want to go home, but I'm afraid you will scold me, woo woo woo..."

"Woo woo woo, your daughter is unfilial, I didn't listen to you..."

Qin Chen looked at Feier and couldn't help but think of Qin Yao again.

Without overthinking, he raised his hand and grasped the air.

Invisible Space Law Power surged in from all directions, wrapping around Feier.

It wasn't grabbing, but moving—like picking up a piece of paper from one table and placing it on another.

Before Feier could react, she was already in front of him.

She held the rotten severed arm, opened her eyes wide, looked left and right, and finally stared blankly at Qin Chen.

"Who are you? Am I dreaming?"

Qin Chen had changed his appearance back then, so Feier didn't recognize him.

Qin Chen didn't answer. He flicked his finger, and a drop of immortal medicine, only the size of a thumbprint, flew from his fingertip and drilled into Feier's mouth.

Then, with a thought, the time power of the xuantian treasure mirror covered Feier's entire body.

Her severed arm began to grow.

First came the bones, stark white, growing out from the stump, one by one, like branches sprouting in spring.

Then came the tendons and veins, red and white, winding and climbing up the bones.

Then came the muscles, wrapping layer by layer, pink and tender, streaked with blood.

Finally, the skin, closing inch by inch from the shoulder toward the wrist.

Three breaths.

In a mere three breaths, a complete arm had grown out.

Feier stretched out her hands, looked at the newly grown one, then at the original one, examining them over and over.

Her mouth was agape, unable to close.

"Have you learned your lesson?" Qin Chen said indifferently. "This time it was just a severed arm. Next time, if you lose your life, you won't be able to get it back."

"Are you an Immortal?" Feier looked up, her eyes sparkling.

Qin Chen smiled: "To you, I suppose so."

"Are there really Immortals?" Feier sat up straight suddenly. "People in our village all say that Immortals are living Bodhisattvas who save people from suffering, and every time Yao Beasts come, the Immortals will appear."

She seemed to have forgotten the pain of her severed arm entirely; her face was full of smiles.

Qin Chen didn't answer, he raised his hand and waved.

The Space Law Power moved again, wrapping around Feier.

This time it wasn't grabbing, but sending.

Space folded beneath her feet, ten miles into an inch—the distance of ten miles became an inch.

Before Feier could even blink, she was already back where she started.

Her eyes nearly popped out; she stretched out her hands and examined them over and over.

Looking at her hands, her head was buzzing.

She tremblingly raised her hand, put her finger in her mouth, and bit down hard.

"Ouch, Mother!"

It hurt.

It really hurt.

She sobered up a bit, blowing on her red and swollen finger, her whole body trembling.

"I actually saw an Immortal."

"There really are Immortals in this world."

"Those uncles and aunts in the village didn't lie to me."
