27: This world is really small

Second floor of the inn.

Xu Liying stood by the window, staring blankly at Lin Mu.

"So he was the one who saved me."

She couldn't help but feel a lingering fear.

If not for Lin Mu's rescue, her fate would have been unimaginable.

Thinking of this, she walked to the bronze mirror, tidied her appearance, opened the door, and headed downstairs.

In front of the inn.

Lin Mu looked at the agitated crowd and then at Luo Sang with a hint of mockery.

"I wonder if you're satisfied with this gift?"

Luo Sang hung his head, unsure how to respond.

After a moment of thought, Luo Sang slowly replied, "My Qingyang Sect will certainly give Young Master Lin an explanation for the actions of such a villain."

An explanation was exactly what Lin Mu wanted from him.

"Don't worry, even if you don't say it, I'll still demand an explanation."

"You can take him away for now."

Lin Mu kicked Lin Xi towards the Qingyang Sect disciples.

Luo Sang looked at Lin Xi on the ground, his consciousness scattered and his breath barely a thread.

He gritted his teeth in hatred; if he could, he truly wanted to kill him right then.

But he couldn't do that yet.

Such a major incident had occurred, and even a Grand Elder had died.

He had to take the person back and let the Great Elder decide.

The more Luo Sang thought about it, the angrier he became.

He turned to the people behind him and said, "Take him and let's go."

Just as Luo Sang was about to leave, Lin Mu's voice suddenly rang out again: "Stop! Are you just going to leave like that?"

Luo Sang turned his head, full of confusion, and asked, "Young Master Lin, what do you mean by that?"

"What do I mean? You've tried to kill me repeatedly; do you think you can leave without an explanation?"

"An explanation? The Qingyang Sect's reputation is ruined, and many Law Enforcement Hall disciples have died."

"Even a Grand Elder perished here; what more explanation do you want?"

Luo Sang thought this with immense grief and indignation.

But on the surface, he said with a forced smile, "Oh, this... I wonder what explanation Young Master Lin desires?"

"The explanation I want is simple. I'm giving you two choices now."

"First, I kill all of you, and then I immediately go to the Qingyang Sect to demand an explanation."

"Second, you kill this person, I let you go, and tomorrow I will go to the Qingyang Sect to demand an explanation."

The Guard Leader, seeing Lin Mu's gaze fall upon him, was instantly scared out of his wits.

He hastily knelt before Luo Sang, crying out, "Elder, spare my life! Please, consider that this disciple has always served the sect wholeheartedly, and even if I have no merit, I have toiled hard. Please grant this disciple a way to live."

Luo Sang stepped forward and kindly helped the Guard Leader up.

His tone was gentle: "What is your name?"

The Guard Leader was stunned, then hastily replied, "This disciple, Liu Cheng."

"Liu Cheng, don't worry. The sect will not forget your contributions..."

Liu Cheng's heart swelled with joy upon hearing Luo Sang's words.

Just as he was about to express his gratitude, he suddenly felt a violent spiritual energy rapidly spread from his arm throughout his entire body.

His narrow meridians immediately exploded from the spiritual energy.

Liu Cheng's eyes widened, and he died from his body exploding.

Luo Sang looked at Liu Cheng with a pained expression.

With a sorrowful look, he said to the disciples behind him, "Bury him well and treat his descendants kindly."

The disciples quickly bowed their heads in acknowledgment.

Lin Mu calmly watched the scene unfold.

He couldn't help but mock, "Seeking advantage and avoiding harm is human nature, Elder, you don't need to blame yourself."

Luo Sang didn't mind Lin Mu's somewhat sarcastic words.

He was just an outer disciple.

Sacrificing him could save the lives of many Flying Heaven Realm cultivators and his own; he considered it a worthy death.

Seeing the indifferent expression on Luo Sang's face, Lin Mu also lost some interest.

"You may leave. Tell your Great Elder that I will personally visit tomorrow."

"Tell him to think carefully about how to compensate me for my losses."

Luo Sang felt as if he had been granted a great pardon.

He didn't even have time for polite pleasantries, quickly leading everyone away and disappearing into Qingyang City.

At this moment, Xu Liying had already reached the entrance of the inn.

Once she saw that the people from the Qingyang Sect had left, she stepped towards Lin Mu.

"Thank you, Young Master, for saving my life last night."

Xu Liying walked in front of Lin Mu and bowed.

Lin Mu looked at the delicate beauty before him, feeling a sense of déjà vu.

He couldn't help but tease, "Saving a life, does that mean you'll pledge yourself to me?"

Xu Liying hadn't expected Lin Mu to say such a thing; her pretty face flushed, and for a moment, she didn't know how to respond.

"Haha, just a joke, Miss, no need to take it seriously. It was nothing, a mere trifle."

Xu Liying's pretty face was slightly red, and she secretly observed Lin Mu.

She said in a barely audible voice, "It might be a trifle to Young Master, but to me, it's a profound act of kindness. If there's an opportunity in the future, I will certainly repay it."

She was usually an uninhibited person, and she didn't know why she was so shy today.

Lin Mu looked at the young girl before him, finding her very cute.

To ease the awkwardness, he asked, "May I ask how to address Miss?"

Xu Liying looked up again, blinked her large eyes, and said, "This humble girl is Xu Liying. May I ask Young Master's name?"

Lin Mu said frankly, "Lin Mu, the Lin from forest, the Mu from wood."

Xu Liying couldn't help but chuckle, "Young Master Lin is truly witty."

She hadn't expected that the person who had just been so decisive and ruthless would speak like this.

Lao Mo, standing by the side, equally bewildered, hadn't expected it either.

"When did my master learn to speak like this? Could it be...?"

Thinking of this, Lao Mo looked at Xu Liying with suspicion.

"Although her appearance is quite lovely and moving, compared to Princess Tianning, she's still a notch below."

"Could Master's taste have gone awry?"

Lin Mu was unaware of Lao Mo's thoughts.

He continued in a gentle tone, "Miss Xu, what brings you to Qingyang City, and what are your plans next?"

Xu Liying replied lightly, "It's a long story. How about Young Master Lin accompanies me to stroll around Qingyang City, and we can talk as we walk?"

Lin Mu had nothing to do, so strolling around Qingyang City was fine.

"Since a beautiful lady invites, I shall naturally do my best to accompany her."

Lao Mo couldn't stand the mushy words and didn't want to be a third wheel.

He channeled his spiritual energy, and his figure flashed, disappearing from the spot.

Lin Mu saw Lao Mo's reaction and knew he might have misunderstood something.

He didn't harbor such intentions towards Xu Liying.

He simply found her not annoying, nothing more.

Xu Liying was clearly a very talkative person.

Aside from being a little nervous and shy at first, she chattered non-stop the entire way.

From her words, Lin Mu learned that she had secretly run away because she was dissatisfied with her Senior Brother arranging a marriage for her.

She kept praising how capable and loving her Senior Brother was.

She also said that she would only marry someone like her Senior Brother.

Lin Mu asked, puzzled, "Since your Senior Brother is so excellent, why don't you marry him?"

Xu Liying hastily explained, "Don't misunderstand. My Senior Brother raised me since I was little; he sees me as his biological sister."

"I also regard him as an elder brother."

"I secretly ran away simply because I was unhappy that he arranged an engagement for me without consulting me."

"Besides, I really don't like that Third Prince."

"That Third Prince, though he appears kind on the surface, is actually a hypocrite who acts one way in front of people and another behind their backs."

"He just pretends to be a good person in front of my Senior Brother."

"Third Prince?"

Lin Mu asked, puzzled, "The Third Prince you mentioned, is he the Third Prince of Yanshan Kingdom?"

Xu Liying pouted and said, "Besides him, how many other Third Princes are there?"

Upon hearing the affirmative answer, Lin Mu suddenly felt that this world was truly small.
