35: Chapter 35 Your physical body is not strong enough

"Bloodline Atavism, promotion to A-Rank, congratulations." Chen Xing sent a congratulatory message to Lu Wu.

"Thank you." Unexpectedly, Lu Wu replied very quickly.

"No need for thanks. By the way, you're participating in the upcoming Exchange Competition, right?" Chen Xing asked casually.

"Yes, we'll be opponents then," Lu Wu said.

At this moment, he stood in a cemetery, letting the heavy rain wash over him, not moving a single step away from Xia Qinger's tombstone.

After a moment of silence, Lu Wu thought back to the past; he had always believed he could wait until the day his strength was great enough to marry Qinger, but he hadn't expected that some things simply cannot wait.

Li Tan's words had been heart-wrenching, like a blade ruthlessly carving open his heart, leaving a wound that wouldn't heal for a long time.

"Thank you," Lu Wu replied after a while.

"Thanking me for what again?" Chen Xing was surprised; he hadn't done anything yet.

"Thank you for preserving Qinger's final dignity," Lu Wu stated plainly.

"Dignity?" Chen Xing thought back; he didn't seem to have done much, other than offering words that pointed the way for the other.

"You've saved me once again. If there's anything you need, contact me anytime, I will definitely help!" Lu Wu sent a voice message in a heavy tone.

"Alright." Chen Xing didn't stand on ceremony with him.

Hearing this, Lu Wu felt much more relieved.

In fact, there was one thing he hadn't explained to Chen Xing: after experiencing that incident, he had started following Chen Xing as an idol.

A figure with that kind of strength was what he truly pursued.

On the other side, Chen Xing continued looking through the information.

The Zhenyan Academy had many experts, but they only had many A-Ranks; there had been no S-class Espers in these recent batches.

The only S-classes now were all Spirit Seed Realm Espers, and their ages and cultivation levels were far too different from the current ones, so they were prohibited from participating.

However, they still could not be underestimated.

There were no fewer than ten high-risk A-Rank experts alone, and among them, a full four were rated as A+ Rank, plus they had excellent coordination.

The one to be most wary of was the strongest of the Four Great Academy Departments, the Niliu Academy.

"Name: Xu Chen, Ability: Time-Space Blade, Ability Rank: A+, Cultivation: Sixth Level Divine Sea Realm."

"Name: Huo Changkong, Ability: Sun and Moon, Ability Rank: A+, Cultivation: Eighth Level Divine Sea Realm."

"Name..."

Even the A-Rank experts were this terrifying; just looking at the page descriptions, Chen Xing felt an invisible pressure weighing on him.

One had to remember, he was still in the Light Opening Realm.

Chen Xing clicked the screen, looking at the separate page for S-class Esper introductions, and couldn't help but sink into thought.

"Name: Wu Hang, Ability: Heavenly Martial Armor, Ability Rank: S, Cultivation: Ninth Level Divine Sea Realm."

"Name: Shangguan Xu, Ability: Frost, Ability Rank: S, Cultivation: Ninth Level Divine Sea Realm."

"Name: Chang Qinian, Ability: Earth System, Ability Rank: S, Cultivation: Ninth Level Divine Sea Realm."

"Name: Chu Li, Ability: Flame, Ability Rank: S, Cultivation: Fifth Level Divine Sea Realm."

The Niliu Academy had a total of four S-class Espers!

Aside from the first three senior students, this girl Chu Li seemed to be only one year ahead of him, yet she was already at the Fifth Level of the Divine Sea Realm.

Everyone had natal treasures and innate Divine Abilities; the gap in this regard was basically impossible to close, which was quite despairing.

"It's fine, I have the Enlightenment Space, I can make up the difference!" Chen Xing's gaze sharpened.

"Teacher, I'm on the Starry Sky. Can you come over for a moment?" Afterward, he sent a message to Ye Jianxing.

Within moments, the teacher appeared inside the carriage.

"Encountered some difficulty?" Ye Jianxing asked.

"Teacher, I want to Cultivate a Concept." Chen Xing stood up, his expression solemn.

Ye Jianxing narrowed his eyes slightly, sizing him up: "Do you know what you're saying?"

Chen Xing nodded: "A Concept, just like your Sword Intent. I want to master one too, otherwise, how can I deal with those prodigies?"

Ye Jianxing shook his head slightly: "It's not that I won't teach you, but that you are still far from reaching the standard."

"Teacher, but I remember that regardless of the Realm, as long as one attains enlightenment, they can basically start cultivating it, right?" Chen Xing countered.

"Then let's start with the simplest part. Have you decided what weapon you want to practice? You're empty-handed; what am I supposed to teach you?" Ye Jianxing crossed his arms, leaning against the wall as he looked at him.

"Heh... empty-handed, then it's naturally fists. Can't I Cultivate Fist Intent yet?" Chen Xing spread his arms and said as if it were a matter of course.

"Fists?" This answer caught Ye Jianxing by surprise, and he didn't speak for a moment.

He never expected his student to be so decisive; having cultivated for less than half a year, he was already preparing to comprehend a Concept.

One should know that back then, Yue Shanhai (the current Dean), because his ability was the Vajra Body, had hesitated over what Concept to Cultivate for a full year before finally determining an answer.

After all, this thing concerns a person's entire life; if one were to forcibly abandon it and switch mid-way, it would easily lead to an unstable Dao Heart and giving up halfway.

After a moment, Ye Jianxing spoke: "Fist Intent is easy to practice, and it's simple to get started, but at the same time, it's very difficult to Cultivate. To reach mastery takes several times more effort than other Concepts."

Chen Xing's lip twitched: "Teacher, don't give me all that useless talk. Is my current situation any good?"

Ye Jianxing chuckled. "You brat, you called me over just to scold me, didn't you? But it's true, asking a freshman who's only cultivated for half a year to fight those old monsters is indeed too much of a stretch."

"Can that even be called a 'stretch'? That's clearly just sending me to my death!" Chen Xing complained.

"Not necessarily. I believe in you." Ye Jianxing smiled faintly.

A while ago, Chen Xing had asked him to help Cultivate 'Minds Eye', and he had learned it in less than half a day, shocking him once again.

Originally, Ye Jianxing intended for the boy to spend a few months polishing two S-Rank Combat Techniques, teaching him others only after he had truly mastered them.

He just hadn't expected that he had still underestimated the terrifying nature of this student.

"Fine, but your hard conditions are still not up to par." Ye Jianxing nodded.

"Hard conditions?" Chen Xing was puzzled.

"Let me ask you, what is a fist?" Ye Jianxing asked instead of answering.

"It's... one's foundation. All sorts of things in life can't be done without them." Chen Xing scratched his head. Was there something wrong with that?

"You're right. Since it is your foundation, then you must make this [foundation] even stronger." Ye Jianxing nodded.

He raised a hand and drew his sword from its sheath: "Just as a person who wants to Cultivate Sword Intent must at least know how to use a sword, right? They must at least understand the techniques, right?"

Ye Jianxing pointed at Chen Xing and said solemnly: "To Cultivate Fist Intent, you must have a powerful body. But you don't have a Dragon Soul Body, nor a Vajra Body. Because your fists are your weapon, a part of your very self, this aspect is indispensable!"

Chen Xing was lost in thought, realizing that was indeed the case.

Speaking of which, he remembered that every time he fought Ye Jianxing in the Enlightenment Space, the man's seemingly ordinary body was exceptionally tough.

It meant that Ye Jianxing was also a specialist in Body Refining.
