86: Room 5551 (Bonus Chapter! Thank you!)
Noli looked at him and asked, "Is it dangerous?"
"Very!" Jiang Feng said decisively.
Gold-Wrapped Silver's scan report had already been sent over, and a more detailed analysis chart immediately unfolded.
A red area representing an unstable eruption point was flickering constantly at the core of the wreckage.
"Damn it! It's not just Energy Chamber No. 3; Energy Chamber No. 4 is indeed still reacting as well! Their energy output needs to pass through this relay. In the original design, I think this must also be part of the self-destruct system!"
Jiang Feng's fingers slid rapidly across his wristband.
"It's like a bomb that could be detonated at any moment, especially when we are performing physical dismantling. Any slight wrong vibration or accidental short circuit could potentially make it explode!"
"Then what should we do?"
Molly crawled out from under Noli's protection, clenching her fists, biting out her words heavily.
Jiang Feng did not answer her, but instead focused on exchanging opinions with the Mainframe.
[Prioritizing the power-off procedure can indeed render it ineffective, but the existing tools are insufficient to complete the task.]
Jiang Feng looked at the Mainframe's reply and hurriedly typed.
[Agreed, we need a new robot.]
[However, is it possible that this is also good news, meaning the core storage unit can still be saved?]
[Analyzing... Since the power supply has not stopped, there is a very high probability that the core storage unit remains active.]
Jiang Feng's mouth twitched upward, and he raised his head to look at Molly: "Perfect!"
"Perfect?" Molly blinked, not understanding.
"Active energy means the core storage unit is intact. I don't mean intact in a physical sense, but rather its internal system is intact, and there is a high probability the data has not been damaged."
This judgment was like an adrenaline shot, making Molly unable to help but close her eyes and take a deep, sharp breath.
"However, let's stop here for today." Jiang Feng quickly poured cold water on her again.
"Why?" Molly said, almost through gritted teeth.
"These guys." Jiang Feng raised his foot and kicked the drone debris.
"Anyway, I don't dare to use them again. The precision isn't enough, the system is a complete mess. Who on earth dismantled these?"
"The workmanship is too terrible, turning originally decent machines into a pile of junk!"
Jiang Feng complained harshly and looked at Molly: "You should go ask him for a refund!"
He raised his eyes, his gaze sweeping over the remaining wreckage, especially the area near the energy chamber.
"Dismantling the outer shell and stripping away some debris fragments is what we can do for now."
"But going any deeper, hitting the protective layer, buffer layer, and physical interface of the core storage unit?"
Molly lowered her head, her eyes hidden as her hair fell down, her hands tightly clenched.
Jiang Feng knew this was the inertia of a gambler.
About to reveal the cards, and suddenly calling a stop? That really could drive someone crazy!
His tone was calm as he further explained: "Any vibration exceeding the safety threshold, or positioning deviation caused by the robot, could potentially activate that half-damaged relay immediately."
"By then, let alone data, not even a scrap will be left."
Molly finally looked up: "Then what do we do?"
Her voice sounded very calm, but her gaze was locked tightly onto Jiang Feng's eyes.
Jiang Feng didn't answer immediately, but walked to her side, raised his wrist, and tapped on one of the contacts.
It was "Mr. S".
The communication connected quickly, and the screen displayed a blurry, constantly shifting outline of a virtual figure, with features completely indistinguishable.
A flat, mechanical voice sounded: "Speak."
"Has the goods arrived?" Jiang Feng got straight to the point, without any pleasantries.
"The maintenance drone 'worker bee', the maintenance robot 'artisan', are all at West 14th Street, 'Shunshui' Automated Warehousing Center."
"Go to compartment 5551, the inspection period is 12 hours."
"Same old rules, cryptocurrency settlement, 1.3 million as the final payment, transfer it by tomorrow morning at the latest."
"The key to the compartment has been synchronized and sent to you."
Jiang Feng nodded and replied: "Understood."
He hung up the call, and the virtual figure instantly dissipated and disappeared.
Lowering his wrist, Jiang Feng saw exactly what he wanted: Molly's surprised gaze. She tilted her head slightly and let out a "tsk tsk" sigh.
"I didn't expect it, our Engineer Jiang is so wealthy."
She raised her eyes, her gaze shooting over with teasing: "1.3 million, and you pay just like that? Without even blinking?"
A wry smile appeared on Jiang Feng's face. He rubbed his face, his voice full of heartache.
"Wealthy? What are you talking about? All the money from several big orders has been poured into this."
He lowered his hand, his gaze cast toward the silent wreckage, his voice dropping, carrying a desperate determination.
"However... as long as we can completely dismantle the star digger's core data..."
Molly watched his expression, and her palms relaxed involuntarily.
A gambler at a dead end will always trust another gambler at a dead end the most.
This is a belief that transcends everything.
'He is just like me,' Molly thought to herself.
"Go inspect the goods. If the goods are good, I'll pay the final balance."
Molly's voice was not loud, but it was like a pebble thrown into a calm water surface.
'I'm using your eyes to wash my fake identity and rationalize the source of my robots, not to scam you out of your money.'
Jiang Feng smiled inwardly and suddenly turned to look at her: "No need."
His voice was decisive: "Good tools are an engineer's lifeline; you have to use your own."
Molly didn't respond immediately. She just looked at him, those eyes that seemed to be able to see through people's hearts lingering on his stubborn face for a few seconds in a brief silence.
Then, without warning, the corners of her lips turned up, and a bright smile bloomed on her face, relieved.
Instantly dispelling all the seriousness and inquiry.
"Is this 'Mr. S' trustworthy?" she asked.
"Mr. S specializes in providing such custom work. Last time, my Peregrine robot, including this Good Doggy..."
Jiang Feng pointed at Gold-Wrapped Silver. Gold-Wrapped Silver hurriedly raised its head, its tail wagging, hitting the concrete floor and creating one indentation after another.
"Were all customized parts from him, and I assembled them myself."
"Alright," Molly responded simply.
Her smile still hung on her face, carrying a sense of relief as if the dust had finally settled.
"Listening to the expert," she yawned.
"Noli," she turned and called out.
"Let's go back to the club."
"Where do you want to get off?" She turned her head, her long hair cascading like a waterfall.
"District 601 will do." Jiang Feng smiled at her: "Eight o'clock tomorrow morning, see you there."
When the van drove out of the shipyard, the setting sun was dyeing District 602 orange-red.
Jiang Feng got off at the third intersection, watching the car drive away until its taillights disappeared around the corner.
Less than ten seconds later, that familiar hovering pickup truck stopped silently in front of him.
The car door opened, revealing Little Handsome's eternally calm metal head: "West 14th Street, sir?"
"Hmm."
Jiang Feng carried the black briefcase into the car, and Gold-Wrapped Silver agilely jumped into the back seat.
When the car started, he glanced at the rearview mirror—no tail.
The "Shunshui" warehousing base on West 14th Street was lit with pale lights.
Jiang Feng parked the pickup in the shadows of Zone C and walked toward compartment 5551, with Little Handsome and Gold-Wrapped Silver following behind him.
Along the way, automated loading and unloading robots were endless, and there were also pedestrians passing by, either wearing hoodies or baseball caps, all covered up as tightly as possible.
Jiang Feng turned up the stand-up collar of his trench coat to block the sides of his cheeks; that was enough.
This was a warehouse rented by the Mainframe, fully automated management, which happened to be the best delivery address for a fake identity.
The storage base had 250,000 storage compartments, covering an area comparable to ten warehouse supermarkets, and soon the people became sparse.
The Mainframe rented 5551 to 5555, a whole row.
The key lock of the compartment flashed green, and Jiang Feng pushed the door open. Inside, the antique car parts sent by Zhao Mingyuan were neatly stacked.
'My plan is taking shape: fake identity, new robots, star digger...'
'As long as I proceed step by step, I will be the final winner. Hmm, Molly can also win. We both win.'
'As for the Garol Gang and the Iron Hand Gang, and even Galaxy Heavy Industry which might stretch out its tentacles.'
'They will all eventually disintegrate in flames.'
He smiled slightly and heard the door behind him close automatically.
"Click."
